I can't believe that I didn't give this game a chance until recently. I'm ashamed to say that I saw IGN's rating and blew off playing it for this longest time. I finally gave it a go and I can confidently say this is one of my all time favorite horror games. Everything about it is fantastic and it still holds up incredibly well to be almost 7 years old. @@andrewmorrice9139 Nah, Amanda gets "rescued" at the end. The light on her face is from a ship, and her face twitches as the light hits it so she's still alive. In the lore of the Alien world those space suits can keep you alive for (if I remember correctly) three days if you find yourself adrift in space. Unfortunately for Amanda I think the ship that shines a light on her at the end is a Weyland Yutani ship come to take possession of their newly-purchased space station, and they're going to have some questions for her. I can't believe how suspensful this game is. It literally makes my hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Sega finally makes a great game and not just a great game, but probably the most suspensful game i've ever played.

It will be okay. I made it to the end. You can too. Open that locker, or crawl out from under that table you're hiding under. It may seem like you're screwed, but you can do it.
I had the same! When I reached San Cristobal, I was shit-scared xD Couldn't handle the stress, took a year or longer break from the game. Yesterday I finally finished it, and it was absolutely worth it, try again if you can :)
You got stuck probably because you open up the game by searching around and building up your weapons,I remember someone saying this game only gets as hard as you make it so you are good
For me, personally and IMO, everytimeI hit replay this game (never ended it!) It feels like the first time, although I know the surroundings (slightly) better...
When I first saw the trailer of this game, i thought it was gonna be one of those first-person shooter games; but when i started playing it, i was absolutely overwhelmed by how terrifying and suspenseful it was. The xenomorph certainly gave my arctic chill as i realized that guns are no use against it and that the only thing i could do was to hide from it as i needed to reach my destination. Absolutely brilliant game.
Alien isolation is easily my favourite space horror game. No fancy multiple enemies, no unnecessary gore, no flashy cutscenes, no high end weapons, no nudity. Hell even the story is pretty simple and straightforward. The game developer has done a good job in creating a dreadful atmosphere along with the perfect sound works. Good job team
You can HAVE all of those things in the right game when done right, Alien Isolation is just trying to be very similar to that of the first Alien movie while having a new plot and storyline for new characters. So of course all of it's and characters are going to be overall familiar because it's trying to stay in touch towards the fAlien world that we're used to seeing from the first film for the most part. Some stories in movies and games work well with a simple and straightforward plot, some other stories NEED to be complex and layered and be fantastic. It all depends on WHAT you're doing for the story, that's what.
This game is an absolute masterpiece. I've never been so immersed in a world before, the sounds, the visuals, the way you breathe in the suit and sound of the computer clicking and dull empty metallic thud of the ship hull. The detail put into the environment and atmosphere made me feel like I was in a movie. It took me 21 hours to complete the playthrough because I was so engrossed in it and didn't rush through. This is up there with the one of the best games of all time, I'm very surprised that It's not talked about more often. Everything is top notch.
It`s a very very old game, one of the first actual gen releases in 2014 (people only talk about the newest hottest games, not something that is a year old or older), and the new PlayStation 4 wasn`t very widespread a few months after release 2014. That`s why that game got relatively forgotten and went under. It could have been a gigantic booster for PSVR sales, but unfortunately it never released for VR even if EVERYONE want`s it (similar to Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare 2, EVERYONE - well at least every gamer - on the planet want`s that, but it will never happen because.... no one knows.)
the one who woke up I am playing this game on hard am just got to that part. The alien has sniffed my locker so much I have almost died from holding my breath for so long. So intense.
Luis Martinez it’s not. Sometimes you gotta be willing to take risk and sneak around the alien instead of waiting for it to leave but the games so scary that at first you just wanna hide lol. Took me a while to figure that out
i found the best way to avoid the alien by crouching opposite side of the table it was..also the alien will never leave you alone cause of the AI so its better just keep continuing forward instead of waiting it to go away..cause it will not..just keep it behind you and go forward
C Ro, it has won several awards. wikipedia says: *PC Gamer's Game of the Year 2014* , *Audio Achievement at the 11th British Academy Games Awards* , *Best Audio at the 15th Game Developers Choice Awards* , and *FOUR awards at the 14th National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers* . A game that did the film series justice - a game development team making miracles. SAD = the trash out of Hollywood, with lavish budgets, can not / will not have sci-fi this good.
This is probably the scariest game out there. You are actually alone. There's really no other human interaction/interaction with friendlies. It's the Alien and you......and some androids.
Also if any of you get the chance to play this game in VR, DO IT. I nearly had a panic attack, it felt so real. That Xeno's AI is crazy smart. It learned based on how you play. If you rely entirely on one method (distraction, fire, etc) it'll catch on and the next time you try to distract it, it'll come straight for you. Use the PlayStation microphone if you really wanna be scared lol. They say in space no one can hear you scream...but that doesn't apply here, haha.
I didn't know it was on VR. Have to look into it for sure. I played Doom 3 on VR & it was frightening. In a good was of course. Makes me wonder why they don't port more games over to VR. Like Halo for instance. Or why they don't make more games like these for VR in the beginning. There really aren't that many.
i jumped straight on to nightmare mode without finishing the game first, I play 10mins everyday. i recently bought a sound blaster Z card with 5.1 speakers surround, i play in the DARK . i Quit every time i get to a save point..... Trying to be Neutral: Who's smart enough, or at least with some of the Basic Competencies, to realize: Space Travel isn't 'FREE'. I'm sure whoever (Corporation) wishing to FUND Space Exploration wouldn't seek to have the common leisures : 2 Reasons 1) enough examples of stupidity already documented through distractions 2) the era of this film's release - I'm sure some might content otherwise BUT Who are you going to text 80,000 MILLION Miles away ? & WHY !!! That's like a $10,00- Text + If you're willing to Enter A State of Suspended Animation - that's Symbolic of a person's release of prior life's value or seeking a new movement in life. I find it hilarious how it's not only that 'this' (what's been said) but also the DANGERS of Space. Ever see a Meteor burning into the Earth's atmosphere ?? There's BILLIONS more and we only know of the Kupiter Belt & who it houses. There are those that enter Earth's atmosphere that are NOT even from Our Solar System. That means - taking a Space Station to some quadrant - IN SPACE means exposing (said station) it to those same possible perils. Do you think, likely not, that a corporation is worried about 'comfort' or 'modern LEISURE Tech' - That's Rhetorical. Systems would be basis because Technicians & Engineers have moved past Lego Blocks and use Knowledge to manipulate system output(s). It's not a Space Cruise.
Alien Isolation is one of the far best games I've E V E R played. I think the graphics are perfectly detailed and every room and corridor has a new layer of fear (anyone for that reference? :P). All that, combined with the enemies' AI, the immersive story line and the 'beep-bop-movement-scanner', creates a spooky ambiance and brings you to the edge of your seat! FURTHERMORE I recognized a lot of the sound effects and soundtracks from the original Alien movie. I'm definitely gonna play that movie (watch that game?) again!... Wow I really needed to share these thoughts with other Alien fans ^_^ woohooo!!

8:07:09 Where Ripley goes through the Transit tunnels is such a good story addition. We see 3 different cars fly past us, all heading towards (presumably) the Solomons Habitation tower in a desperate attempt to get to the Spaceflight Terminal and escape the station. Just a few minutes prior at 7:51:53 we heard Verlaine announce to the station that the Torrens can take survivors, and now we almost get killed by the crowd rushing to escape... only for none of them to make it at all. One can only think about what happened to the survivors: Did Transit fail and strand them in the middle of nowhere? Did they get there but just got eaten up by the aliens? Did they get there but infighting between the survivors caused them to kill eachother? Questions we'll never get answers to.
there is such incredible potential to use this concept and execution for a Terminator 1 game. Crafted with this amount of care, this unparalleled level of game design, and this amount of fear.
I love the aesthetics and designs of everything like if they discovered space travel in the 1970's no paper thin super advanced touch screen computers and holograms, just big clunky ones that still somehow seem futuristic and the doors too looking futuristic and complicated but they're not it's just awesome
This is how the real future spacecrafts may look like, for example the giant nuclear-powered NASA needs to build on the Moon to get humans to Mars. Puropse-built systems don't need high computing power but in modern chips Ions in space radiation interacting with the chip components can flip the states of bits and cause memory errors, a high-energy ion or proton passing through the inner transistor junctions can cause latchups, leading to short circuits and particle radiation can also let electrons loose in a circuit, causing irreversible damage. Old chips with thicker circuits are much more resistant this space radiation, which is especially heavy beyond Van Allen belts. Also, regarding controls, it's better to traditional keyboard and knobs which can be built to high reliablity, rather than touch screen that can cause mayhem in the system if malfunctions. That's why Astrionics still relies on durable 80s chips, and not so long ago, even 70ies chips and ferrite memory were still in use. I wouldn't be surprised in future interplanetary spacecraft, the most critical systems still ran of 70s tech.
In an interview with the development team,at the time of the launch of this game, that was the intent. Everything had to look as though it could have been made on set of the original film back in 1978/9.
I wish they'd make a DLC where you can be the 'Drone' who started this entire thing. And it lasts till the point Amanda arrives... That'd be so fucking cool.
Check out “Observer System Redux” very similar to blade runner in terms of cyberpunk styled game. Actor Ruter Hauer who plays as an android in the 1982 blade runner film ironically plays as the protagonist of Observer
Completed the game this week after months of playing - one of the best horror/survival games I've played... in fact no, it is the best. I love the Aliens franchise and I love this game.
Was always impressed by how lengthy the campaign is. Could’ve easily worked against it but it honestly kept my attention and interest the whole way through. Already been four years since I last played this...might be time for a revisit since it looks like we’re never getting a sequel 😔
lol what? How could have a lengthy campaign have in ANY WAY "eaSilY worKEd aGaINst iT" AT ALL? What? Most people WANT long campaigns in video games like this because they want to play through it as much as possible so having a well paced lengthy campaign IS required, espeically when there's no multiplayer at all, people WANT long story campaigns. That should be obvious as it NEVER works against the game as long as it's well paced for the game time and it IS for this game and many others.
This game is really amazing without the use of bloody images as the main title. It's a real hide-and-seek. The enemy's AI is so amazing that even if you hide in a locker or under a bed, there is still a chance to be discovered. This design without absolute safety zone is what I enjoy.
1:12:40 - ah, I remember that moment when I first played this game. I am a big Alien fan and I was already impressed by the game up until this moment, but when the xenomorph showed up like that, I was totally amazed. Also, scared as fuck, but still amazed.

Watching this after recently re-watching Alien and Aliens for the first time in about 15 years. Both have aged, as you would expect, but the atmosphere in those first two movies is so unique. I just hope they one day make another Alien film that returns to that original aesthetic. This game captures it perfectly.
I think the only scene in the first film which aged bad is when the Alien appears in one of the vents after roughly 90 mins or so. It basically raises its hands and screeches but doenst do anything and then you hear a guy screaming. Thats it.
I think what almost always make a franchise "bad" is that all the prequels are compared to the first movies. If its too different people will complain and if its too similar people will complain again. Making 8 thriller/horror movies of the same concept would've been difficult. I don't hate the other movies and I think they are good on their own. The first ones are amazing though. I haven't watched them in a long time but I remember watching them around 2010 and they still looked great!
LOL What? Just no. You're COMPLETELY wrong here and it's NOT just the atmosphere of the first 2 alien movies that's brilliantly held up to a phenomenally well to this day, it's EVERYTHING from casting, acting, dialogue, filmmaking, sound design, storytelling, cinematography, production design, character design, creature design, and costume design which are ALL god-like. The first 2 Alien movies have NOT "agEd" at all as what ANYONE "aS wOulD ExPeCt" as those 2 movies have beautifully held up the test of time MASTERFULLY well as timeless masterpieces of films! They look PHENOMENAL especially the first Alien movie which is a MASTERCLASS in world-building in space which is still timeless to this day. The camerawork and lighting is unbelievable godlike and brilliant to this day that it looks like a movie that came out in the 21th century. The sound effects are massively iconic and timeless and distinctly unique towards the franchise from the film AND in the trailers for the movie. The first alien movie looks like a film that could hav easily came out in the 21th century especially with it's 4k/blu ray release that REALLY brings to life the production design and cinematography to life in the BEST way. Both Alien and Aliens are gorgeously masterful films that are timeless!
This is one of the best walkthroughs I have ever watched. In char reactions, no fuss about anything, no "OHMAGOOOOODS". I started to play A:I some days ago, sweaty hands and standing hairs, and your playthrough taught me some vital things like using the tracker (which you do) and collecting shit (which you don´t, making me aware of dem consequences). Thanks for sharing this :)
i just finished this game and what an experience it was, by far the best horror game I've played in a long time! Atmosphere, OST, gameplay and story. Everything about it was fantastic and I'm so glad i was able to go into it blind. While i won't be 100% it cause lets be honest I'm scared af, for just the main story, I would highly recommend this game to anyone.
Nope, more people means less sources per people, which means if they need to split up, they'll be in extreme danger, no one would trust each other so everyone would betray each other the second they feel like danger is close, wouldnt you throw a stranger to the alien to save yourself? You would.
According to the canon, being anywhere near xenomorphs for an extended period induce nightmares, paranoia, even psychosis in a lot of people. And in any case, extreme stress often results in existing polarisations getting sharpened rather than get erased.
Unfortunately I don’t think it would really. I think it was Joker from the Dark Knight trilogy that said it best. “When the chips are down, these civilized people? They’ll eat each other.” Hunger, thirst, isolated in space with no communications. While also a giant alien beast stomping around. That’ll unfortunately drive people to the literal basic of all instincts in order to live.
@@jean-lucpicard5510 maybe so. He doesn’t know you. But In a situation where you being hunted by a homicidal force of nature, and it’s down to you and a stranger, Would you sacrifice him or yourself?
What a fantastic timeless masterpiece of a game. Watching your walkthrough in 2023 and time did not take away anything from the quality and immersion, on the contrary! Many current games do not measure up to this gem by a long shot!
imagine having to destroy an alien + nest + etc... while androids are everywhere trying to kill you, while youre on an unfamiliar ship in the middle of space ...
If you watch the second aliens movie, you can see how each crew member of the Nostromo from Alien was put there basically as collateral. They all had something in their bios (you can briefly read each one) that the company had an issue with. That’s why they were so readily thrown away just to bring back the alien. Ripley’s bio read that she violated company policy for having a child and demanding maternity leave while on shore leave between missions. So that’s how they tied in how she has a daughter in this game. They didn’t retcon anything, they just took a tiny little bit of lore you can easily miss and expanded on it tenfold. Love it! 😂
At 1:44:35 I screwed up and had a working joe on my tail as I pressed the elevator button the working joe was right at the door. It closed on him then he glitched into the elevator. I was stuck in the elevator with the working joe. I unloaded an entire clip of my revolver into him and he just stared at me unphased and proceeded to attack me. It was one of the scariest things ever. Also this game on hard is crazy difficult. The enemies will notice you from so far.
This is up there with one of the most scariest and most difficult games in the market. I started off absolutely shitting myself, almost giving up from fear to then understanding the games logic, craving more and more of the story and still feeling the full on anxiety I initially felt. I had to switch back to look at the walkthroughs because the stress I was going through left me always in a trap made by the Alien. I'm only half way through but its been a rollercoaster of fun and fear.
Completely understand. This was the first game to really stop me in my tracks, and I've played some. I love this game. I love the movie franchise. I love how true to the films the game is. The beautiful graphics and sound. The alien itself. The deadly AI. I got some way into the game only by reducing the difficulty level to lowest possible, which I didn't do lightly especially as its recommended to be played on hardest level to get the best experience. Even then I found myself having to "psyche myself up" before playing for at best two hours at a time. I could go no longer than this as my nerves were shredded and I couldn't maintain the focus needed to survive. I began to ask myself, am I even enjoying this? So I stopped. I find now however that other games just don't interest me, so I rarely play anything at all anymore. A voice in my head tells me I must go back and complete Alien Isolation, but the thought fills me with dread. I know there's a VR version available. Oh my God, I honestly think if I tried to play that I may well have a heart attack.

Good job team
yes indeed, you should try soma too, it has same element, no fancy multiple enemies, weapons, etc

Loved how it all changed as it all descended into chaos ! yep top game.

Some dev actually just announced a terminator game, and robocop game that sticks true to the original. Im hyped. Check it out.
I legit thought this was a god damn movie til like 10 minutes in.

Thats it.
@@asnierkishcowboytrue if that part was more worked on the whole film would be a full masterpiece

In a real-life scenario, wouldn't people band together, as in safety in numbers?
They’ll eat each other.”
Hunger, thirst, isolated in space with no communications. While also a giant alien beast stomping around. That’ll unfortunately drive people to the literal basic of all instincts in order to live.

Love it! 😂

@@morningstar9233 have you played res 7? Surely that is worse?
7:11:04, holy fuck, I never knew this guy actually died in any of these runs. I always thought he died but would edit the videos to seem like the walkthrough is seamless. I guess I was wrong.
for a 2014 release, the visuals on this game are ridiculous. utterly brilliant game.
“where are you going?”
Ripley: *smack* *smack*
Bought this game for less than £10.00 on a Steam sale and it has been such a joy to play. I have played the campaign several times but never had the guts to play on the harder difficulties!
Hardest difficulty tip: Breathing helps you live. The alien can hear you breathing.
It's a shame this game did not sell well. It does the 1979 film justice in every aspect.
"Overwrite Save Data?"... [Waits 5 minutes]... "Yes!"
