Is it not burples, as in the car burping from higher rpms as you let of accelerator and rpms drop the extra fuel makes its way through the exhaust to the muffler, once there and it finally mixes with oxygen and at the right temp it will ignite, hence burping or burples. At least that's how I always spelled it.
