Interesting concept and I’ll give this shape a try. For some reason I have the most trouble hitting a Bminor barre chord rather than the F#. Regarding the D-18, I have one and for the second time it needs to go into the shop because the binding comes loose at the waist. Some research indicates it’s a problem some others have had with this model.
Look up "normal" beginner F minor chord and its a barr (133111) if you drop the middle root F a whole step, it becomes Fm7 (131111) . Sean is ignoring the string with the 5th of this chord as well (the "3" fret) so just playing shell (1x11xx) - its just the super relevant sounding notes

@@StumblebumBand agreed but it's boring as heck and, like you said, I play mostly to pass time while I'm singing a bit, not learning guitar guitar per se Having said all this, that's where Sean Daniel has been instrumental to people like me, he slips in theory and techniques while focusing on practical things

You know will change your guitar playing knowing the fretboard inside and out knowing all the chord shapes put in about 100 thousand hours and then maybe you'll be alright
Anyone care to explain why we dont just play Fm7 as a barr with that C? (131111) - is this video just mainly for beginners unable to get a full barr? (Not sarcasm here, honest question)
Talked about this a little on the QA i just posted today. I think it's generally aimed more for beginners, but I think there are more useful ways to play that specific chord.

Sean is great, but his lessons can be a little confusing sometimes. You might try Stitch method or Griff Hamlin for a different perspective and simple breakdowns of the lessons. good luck.don't give up!

This is one of those “aha” moment lessons. Well done and thank you!
in my defense, i'm pretty sure i play all chords wrong.
😂😂😂
This is one of those amazing learning moments....thank you so much for sharing this.
another outstanding lesson sir Sean. thanks

Excellent useful lesson Sean
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the minor chord playing options. As always, greatly appreciated!!
Totally invaluable lesson!
Great lesson! Thanks you!
I just kept admiring that beautiful D-18. Such a lucky guy.
Hello Sean,
I am a new subscriber.
That 1st Am chord, is 1st chord of "ain't no sunshine" by Bill Withers!👍

Shell voicings changed my life.
Fantastic
I kinda resisted the CAGED system, but it really helps knowing all the chord shapes, and what you can play around them
I'm keeping up the resistance

11*4 years can it take a couple of months
So keep at it!
If you just grab that heavy boy with your thumb and grab the little four boys with any old finger you want you get the whole chord

Owww salty 🥺
no no not at all. I've seen MANY players do this. I just wonder: why it's suggested? Is it the general difficulty or what?

@@seandaniel23 fair enough! As always, thanks, Sean!
For me, the Beast of All Time minor chord is the Bm barre chord.
The F# minor is harder to get all the strings ring out properly. Helping to hold down your barre with the middle finger helps
I don't think I get all of that but I got something, and my wife likes it. Ty
Some Bill Withers for sure!
This is how Jazz minors are played can you explain the Majors as well ? Im looking to ditch the Bar chords for now !
Keep playing your bar chords. One day you’ll look up and say wow I can play a great bar chord.
Okay that is great. Now show us how to sod it for a begginer. Thanks
Wow D18 you said? Matin must really value you Sean. That’s a damn near 3000.00 guitar. Mazel tov!
I guess. The cost is probably like a couple hundred dollars....just easy marketing so many people will see him with that guitar now
