It takes someone who really understands something well to teach someone how to do it well and make it easy to understand you have that gift few UA-cam teachers have and you are fun as well I've learnt so much from you and I know I have a lot more I can learn thank you.
that finger will never be the same. all the other fingers represent a cushy life of a youtuber playing his instrument but that one finger nail screams seasoned Service Plumber
Hi Sean, great tips as usual, it's amazing how the guitar becomes important in your life, i love the acoustic because you can carry it around everywhere, there is always something new to learn every day
You've out done yourself Sean, the ad lib commentary just made my day. Oh, and the counting backwards. I've always struggled with reciting scales (notes or degree's) backwards and I've been at it a whle.
That was one of the most educational theories I have seen yet! I will not say the other that has really helped me abundantly out of respect. Because he is really brilliant, but you just solved a piece of the puzzle i was missing! Thank you! Absolutely love this lesson. BTW, i do watch your stuff every chance i get. You are also brilliant.
Love your lessons and tips Sean ! Btw I have a Martin '71 D18 too and when my late wife and I had our music store we sold a lot of Elixir strings (an easy sell) 🎵👍
I too prefer elixir nanoweb Web! I think newby or new player because it's not quite as hard on my calluses, it's a brighter sound than the elixer polywebb as that polyweb makes the fretting harder where with the nano Web is more effortless when you get your calluses built up a bit
For polyweb I thank many coats of protectant on the strings which makes it harder to fret the strings, polyweb is a deeper warmer sound but make my calluses a ache a bit
I use the root and the 3rd on the 6th and the 3rd strings and occasionally 7th or octave on the 4th string, then use the open strings, in quite a few of the songs that I have written... they're almost all beautiful chords.
Yeah on the Elixers! I've been changing all my guitars over to them for the last couple years, and suddenly I'm buying less strings. They really last (I'm in a dry climate) a long time. Plus, they sound terrific, electric and acoustic. I use the nanowebs.
What string us your pinky finger on? It would be nice to go it up front. Unless I might be the only one tha wasn't sure or maybe you only tell thar on pat me on. Great comments from your fan. Which I am one by the way. My wife and I grew up in West Los Angeles now we live in Arizona. The house that we got for less than 200 would be over a mil in LA
Would love to see fretboard from vantage point of the guitar player instead of mentally switching my viewpoint like a hygienist with a mirror. But probably technically too hard to pull off without some kind of weird GoPro set up. Love your videos! 10:31
It would be awesome if you would tell us what strings and frets your fingers are on since we can't see through your hand. I know it seems obvious to you, but it's not.
LOVE all you give, i Just wonder if I would EVER "get there" because i'm so visual and the MATH, the left side of my brain, just doesn't do well with letters and numbers...
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Except for the ii7 chord, I tried gently muting the A string with my middle finger. You barely hear the A string when he strums the higher chords. Nice simple lesson with simple shapes.
Sean are you trying deliberaterly to confuse people witht the concept of the Minor/ Major chord? Stop their suffering and explain the maj just means a major 7, no 3rds are unflattened, although a 5th may be discarded.
@@dcarts5616 🦄 You are very special. Of course, you can be first too. Even if you're actually a loser. Which your not because everyone is first if they really really feel it. 🌈
I get so much mileage out of these chord variation lessons and incorporating the music theory behind them. Thanks
Perfect for all my worship fellow musicians… thank u man

Thank you so much for saying so! I'll keep it up!
My brother thank you for keeping it fun. Love your lessons.
that finger will never be the same. all the other fingers represent a cushy life of a youtuber playing his instrument but that one finger nail screams seasoned Service Plumber
I like how that motor cycle drives by every time Sean says, "Here's a cool variation".
Hi Sean, great tips as usual, it's amazing how the guitar becomes important in your life, i love the acoustic because you can carry it around everywhere, there is always something new to learn every day
You can carry a piano too, if you strong enough lol, was in a band once where we had to take the piano to gigs.. that mad artist thing 😀
Nice! Appreciate the simple manner in which you work through the lesson..Thanks!
The painless integration of theory is invaluable.
Excellent stuff, Sean!
Cheers mate. You are like sitting around with a friend talking playing guitar. Allows injoy. Great for playing my twelve strng. Thanks again.
Informative, entertaining, and you are hilarious. Love it.

Great stuff Sean….. keep at it….. you’re making us all better players :-)
Funny guy, great on camera...and useful info! Subscribed!
Just picked it back up again, glad yours was the first video that popped up! Thanks for being great! :)
Very nice, Sean, Ty for a great vid, This inspires me to take it to the next level and play with no fingers!
Ouch! 😆

What a brilliant lesson I couldn’t watch it all the way through cos I couldn’t stop playing around with it. I will watch more carefully, thanks..
Sean is funny and best at teaching😂
As usual, thank you for another great lesson. Really appreciated!! Yeah, South Park was a riot.
That’s the kind of sneaky stuff that will make someone who doesn’t play think you are faking it! Thanks for posting
Great lesson
love your videos
Harley neighbors! Cheers Sean!!

Guitar theory troopers! Great lesson, thanks for the tips!

awesome content! cheers
I Love Intelligence, wit & know how /// Great combo, my Brother ~~~
So cool

The Chords have a vibe of Allman Brothers "Melissa"
great stuff, thanks! and- best South Park episode ever..
2:14 do you cover both strings with your ring finger? Also is your pinky on the 2nd fret or the 3rd??
Super!
Thank you friend
Very good man
Sean kindly be adding the chord diagrams in your videos as you explain chord shapes
I would certainly get a lot more out of Sean's lessons if he talked less and showed more...Just sayin
And, if he could title his videos with what is actually in them, it would help tremendously.
Takes time, he teaches on the fly and barely edits
@@dlcyh2000 not his style tho, I like his flow, you learn a lot just listening
Check out his patron.
How the ell do you fit those three fingers on one fret. The 2nd and 3rd on the D and G.....
What string us your pinky finger on? It would be nice to go it up front. Unless I might be the only one tha wasn't sure or maybe you only tell thar on pat me on. Great comments from your fan. We gotta get this guy a house. Like and thumbs up. 😢😊
? Do you play slide with elixir strings, if so, do they still hold up well?
Would love to see fretboard from vantage point of the guitar player instead of mentally switching my viewpoint like a hygienist with a mirror. But probably technically too hard to pull off without some kind of weird GoPro set up. Love your videos! 10:31
I had been playing that F# min variation chord with thumb on the E string. Sean's fingering seems better.
Dude, your jokes.... Slow clap!! Right off the bat!
It would be awesome if you would tell us what strings and frets your fingers are on since we can't see through your hand. I know it seems obvious to you, but it's not.
Can I try this in different keys? The same shape for both minor an major? Or is it just for E major?
LOVE all you give, i Just wonder if I would EVER "get there" because i'm so visual and the MATH, the left side of my brain, just doesn't do well with letters and numbers...
Wait are you muting the A string? because if you leave it open it sounds terrible.
Are you muting the a string? When doing this or is it open?
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Except for the ii7 chord, I tried gently muting the A string with my middle finger. You barely hear the A string when he strums the higher chords. Nice simple lesson with simple shapes.
Ive been doing this for ages... and figured it out myself, thanks for bursting my bubble lol! But i took note of the extra little add-ins... 😀
why didn't you show us how it works using a backing track ??
I’m not ready, but I shall return someday
I'll be waiting
I think SyndieJo tunes her guitar to a chord. She modifies that chord to play other chords up the neck.
ya sound a little unwell. take care of ya self in the shifting Weathers of CaliforniaLand
Why not simply draw this chord???
Why is the key of E one of the prettiest in all of history?
That finger lost all hope!!!! LOL
Haha cos the index finger nos it can never afford a house 😄😄😄classic
Thankfully we can afford guitar.
You're encouraging that Martin to identify as a Taylor, with those sucky lounge chords.
A house ? People can barely afford a 1 bedroom apt in that overrated state.i been in ca 42 years looking for a way out.
The easiest way out is gonna be through Nevada, Arizona or Oregon. Good luck!
Nope. My carpal tunnel kicked in and I get a burning cramp up my left forearm. Great sounding chords though ✌
Said no one...
Careful….. you’ll have everyone playing jazz soon…..
Sean are you trying deliberaterly to confuse people witht the concept of the Minor/ Major chord? Stop their suffering and explain the maj just means a major 7, no 3rds are unflattened, although a 5th may be discarded.

Don't buy cheap elixir strings they are cheap chinese rubbish.get the USA ones.
Played lots of Martin's and gotta say, I'm just NOT impressed! Don't understand what the hoopla is for Martin.
They used to be good, and the name lingers.
