- Binding yet another junk journal (Studio Vlog 007)
This journal is made from a vintage book. No surprises there. But this time it's bound with book pages, Moleskine paper, and onion paper.
Deadheading. Deadheading is the horticultural practice of removing spent flowers from ornamental plants. Deadheading is a widespread form of pruning, since fading flowers are not as appealing and direct a lot of energy into seed development if pollinated.
Basically, you gotta cut the dead crap in order to grow. Theres a time between blooms that is beautiful too. I’ll tell you about that bit another time but for now I’m in love with this word.
From Traci:
Out my art room window are my gorgeous rose bushes... but they are not in FULL BLOOM as they were just a week or so ago... they are “in between blooms”...
Their roots are busy getting everything ready to bloom again... resting... pulling in extra hydration and nourishing fertilizer... taking in the sunshine... waiting and resting and knowing ... MORE BLOOMS are on their way!
YOU are “in between” blooms
As you are resting and hydrating .... nourishing yourself and gathering sunshine in your soul... it’s just a matter of time... BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS are in your future 💕

Love your studio!
Amazing!!!!
“Gathering sunshine in your soul’ - I mean, how perfect ❤️🌸
Did I say that? That sounds wise, must have picked it up from elsewhere, haha.
@@CayleeGrey it was from the letter 😂❤️
I love how minimalistic your pages are Caylee. They are so removed from the style I usually create in, but it’s a design I really love and wish I were better at doing myself!
Thank you
Hi! New to your channel, love it! I could watch your videos non stop, soooo relaxing. If you're not a therapist, you missed your calling lol. Thank you so much for sharing :)
new to your channel, and already subscribed! love the vibes :)
I enjoyed this so much! Loved all those vintage books on the shelf at the beginning. You make art journaling look so easy and fun! 😊
Im so envious of your creative space! I hope to have something similar someday.
It really does have a special place in my heart. I actually recorded a love letter to her on my podcast: getmessyart.com/023-a-girl-and-her-studio-a-love-story/
Your books are always so beautiful.... and what was that CAKE 😂😂😂
Thank you. CHEESECAKE from the cafe here! It’s heaven.
@@CayleeGrey you're beautiful too! Hope you're managing to keep cool over there, I just had to go out and buy yet another tower fan... phew!
Where did you buy the pink hole guide tool? I looked in the supply list and didn’t see it.
I (her husband!) 3D printed it for her :)
My husband 3D printed it for me. It works beautifully!
@@theunsgreyvenstein8343 amazing job! You should definitely sell those (maybe not from your 3D printer but have them factory made) because every book maker would buy them. Seriously cool!!!💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
@@CayleeGrey I'm now aiding and abetting my husband to make the choice and get a 3D printer. So he can make me cool stuff too
@@secretaireshop4431 yes! I NEED this, I hope you're able to source it :D
I love your vintage books covers. Did you get them from special shops? And what do you call the tool that you used to pierce your signatures?
Oh she’s is SO BEAUTIFUL! it makes my heart SO happy to see some of my words, and my name in your journal 💕 I’m SO grateful for our sweet connection!!!
and seriously… was that cheesecake?!?!? I was drooling on my screen 😉 also, where can I find one of those hot pink bookbinding assistants you used?
I love your videos!
Yeah that’s what I want to know, about the pink tool, not the cake!
The pink tool was made for me by my husband, actually! He 3D printed it, you can see it kinda goes wonky near the end but it was good enough for me :D
@@CayleeGrey oh my gosh you guys should sell those. Seriously crafters companion started from one tool and became a huge business from there. I would definitely buy your tool!
Your hubby is the coolest ☺️
@@CayleeGrey any chance he’d be willing to share the design?! My husband 3D prints too!
I love your journal! And your studio! Can you do a room tour?! It looks so eclectic and cool! Also, can you link us to the book binding punch tools? Particularly the Japanese one you used on the book spine. I didn't see it in your Amazon supply links.
Thank you!! A studio tour is definitely on the horizon.
I used a Japanese stab punch for those clean holes. Man I love that tool but it's less intuitive than the awl - you have to clean it after 3 holes. I haven't been able to find a good one on Amazon - I've actually tried about four from there but they are too blunt. The one I found is from my local art supply store in Germany called Boesner. I can't find it on their website either.
I've created a subsection of my Amazon storefront for bookbinding: www.amazon.com/shop/cayleegrey?listId=13PNHCIGW2U35&ref=idea_share_inf
What is that amazing pink tool you use called? The one that allows you to line up for the awl
And that drill looking took that cuts easily into the spine? 😍
My partner 3D printed it for me. It's AMAZING!
@@CayleeGrey would he/she be willing to share the file for this. I would be willing to pay...
@@ninkagiraudet5141 I'll get him to do it over the weekend! I'll share it for free, no problem. There is a similar one on Thingiverse : www.thingiverse.com/thing:4280508 I haven't tried it so can't vouch for it. There are actually a few there. All you really need is a cradle and some holes. I'm already giving specs to my husband for v3 (like a space for my awl, and some text on the side). He's an engineer and thinks in 3D, so if you have any suggestions lemme know!
The book which cover you use doesn't seem religious to me. It says "Blüthen and Perlen deutscher Dichtung", right? That means "good/worthy parts of German literature". Or did I misunderstand and you referred to some inner pages?
And you're right - 'she' is beautiful.
Yes, I was talking about the paper. It’s in Italian or French so I have no idea, but after a while I noticed some Christian words kept repeating on the paper.
What thread is it that you are using please and thanks??! I attempted to look it up but no success. I love your binding and all the beautiful colors you use!
Garn und Mehr! It's a German company, but I'm sure she ships internationally.
@@CayleeGrey thank you so very much!!!!
May I ask … where did you get your onion paper?
it was just from Amazon
