I am really loving the focus on Minecolonies. It is hands down one of my favorite mods and it needs to have more play throughs like yours. All the other ones that I have watched for it just seemed to be so dull. Keep up the great work and stay positive!
Another note about hunger mobs- if they bite you and you are wearing enchanted gear, it will reduce your enchant levels on that gear. For example Sharpness III if hit by the Hunger would downgrade to Sharpness II. When killed after stealing enchants, the hunger will drop Experience potions.
You need a graveyard. You are starting to get to a point where replacing your people is going to start impacting the performance of your colony as getting the replacement's skills back up to where their predecessor's were is going to take more and more time depending on how long the last dude was at their post. So I think that potentially getting the last dude back is well worth tihe investment in a lot of cases.
RIP Patches! Welcome "Weak" MicSterEnd0 Wilson to New Kingdom at last! Also I think you should build a graveyard for all those fallen colonists we have lost!
The iron ore block could have been silk touched if I’m not mistaken. I could be but I believe it’s still possible to obtain lol. Love the content keep up the good work man!
"The fisherman who didnt even get to fish" The colonists will mourn you and remember your legacy RIP patches Aside from that keep going with your awesome content Sjin
Time for Tips! When you have Students studying at the Library, they will still appear in your lists of unemployed colonists when you go to asign a worker to a hut (in more recent versions of the mod, there's an option to turn this off if you want). Basically, they will be studying to raise their stats until they get a job, in which case they will move to their new job without you having to fire them from the Library first. And if you have your Library set to automatically hire new students, once a slot is freed up, a new colonist will start studying. This way, you can be sure all your colonists are either working, or improving their Intelligence so they'll be better workers. Similarly the Combat Academy and Archery huts will let colonist train up their relevant combat skills till you have space for a new guard in your colony. In fact, there's an option in Guard Towers and the Barracks towers to automatically hire someone from the Combat Academy or Archery hut if one of your guards are killed. This way, so long as you have colonists training at one of those two buildings, you will always have a full complement of guards without having to track down which tower is missing a guard. When one of your colonists die, they leave behind a grave. This grave will hold all of the items they had on them, and you can right click on it like a chest to get the items back. You have to be quick, because the grave will disappear fairly quickly. If you have a Graveyard with an Undertaker, the Undertaker will run to the grave and collect the items for you. They will also have a very small chance to resurrect your colonist. If they cant, they will place a permanent grave in the Graveyard which will hold the colonist's items till you can collect them. Also, the mob you killed was called a 'Hunger', so that was probably what killed him. But when it comes to feeding your colonists, the main building you need is the Restaurant, as not only will your Cook cook things like baked potatoes, steak, and other simple foods (if you hire an Assistant Cook, they will be able to make more complex foods, including modded foods), but any foods made by other workers (such as bread or cookies from the Bakery) will be distributed at the Restaurant, so long as you tell the Restaurant to keep those foods in stock. Most all of your workers who craft items (tools, blocks, food, but especially tools and armor) will occasionally discover a way to reduce the needed materials for some items. It's basically a way to make it more efficient to let your colonists build things themselves rather than trying to make everything for them yourself. Usually the more they make an item, the more likely they are to find a cheaper way to make it, but it is somewhat random. One of the reasons the Plantation looks to huge, but only grows a limited amount of plants, is that there's a research in the University to allow your plantations to grow two different plants at once. So, for example, you can have one Plantation growing both sugar cane and cactus. That means, if you want both sugar cane, cactus, and bamboo automated, you'll need two Plantations. Also, your Plantation worker can craft a lot of items from the plants they grow, including paper, sugar, as well as some new blocks from the mod made with cactus and bamboo. Also, be careful with the Crusher. They can crush cobblestone into gravel, gravel into sand, bone into bonemeal, as well as making clay. However, you have to pick which recipe they will use, and how many stacks you want them to produce per day, which is limited by the building level. So, to keep your colony supplied with materials from the Crusher's hut, you will have to do a bit of management.
Undertaker has a small chance to revive the colonist, with increases possible by research, so it might be a good thing to get the Graveyard earlier. Iirc the chance for recipe cost reduction is based on either the intelligence or adaptability stat, but I could be wrong~
@sjin While it is very cool with the create spinning wheels ect., just be aware that if you change ANYTHING in a building (like adding the create), it will, most likely, be removed by the builder if you upgrade (or tell them to repair) the building.
Something I learned while playing minecolonies myself today is that if you use the builders wand and make the road decorations your colonists are more likely to use them rather than walking on nothing. (I had my own paths and they just kept walking to the side of them rather than on them)
Ripperoni in Pepperoni Patches I would set library to automatic hiring mode (and same with school, warehouse and guard towers). Another tip that is super important is to set minimum stocks at the huts so your villagers won't run out of resources. Like set your planter to always have a stack of sugar cane, farmer to have a stack of each vegetable/wheat, restaurant a stack of baked/cooked food(important), a stack of iron at blacksmith etc.etc. You could also use this nice half-cave for cave-style buildings. Their lv5 are quite tall and will probably fit in that hole. Better set some place in the open for the enchanter - it's the tallest buildings in most packs. Don't swap the waterwheels until you upgrade the buildings to lv5, it would be shame to do them again after levelling up the building. Oh, build the graveyard too. It has slim chance to revive your citizens Edit: fixed some typos.
honestly, been watching this series on the side, while also playing the same version. haven't caught up AT ALL, takes tons of time for minecolonies to do it's work. but for anyone that might be interested, if you don't have a second account to keep your colony running when you're gone, you can add in a chunk loader mod and use that to keep it loaded while you run around and scavenge the plethora of better minecraft buildings. got tons of materials and barely did any mining xP every now and then I return to restock on supplies for your colony (I'm using medieval spruce and nordic mixed, so got tons of oak logs,planks,fences,... stocked up) as well as give them the specific weird stuff they need. been fun thus far :p
Raw Iron is only base game from 1.18 onwards - Sijn is still on 1.16.5, but there is a mod, which backports the now normal feature :D But I totally agree - using silk touch would have been the way to go, even though it's too bad, the research is not using forge-tags instead
RIP Patches! Anyway, for that free supply camp, you should look at the Caledonia styles (there are two of them for the camps). Those are my favorite decorative supply camps, because they are literally airships, which just look awesome to keep and have up around the place!
" What's This Weird Monster , the Hunger? " " Patches was Slain By HUNGER ? Why was he starving?? " Boy you have no idea how hard I facepalmed at this lmao RIP Patches.
The miner has a chance to mine "Ore blocks" as well. you just need to turn of the smelting of Iron ore at the smelter and it will gather in the warehouse over time
Ive allways had problems with trying to work out how to use this mod for some odd reason, so glad i found your series i dont think many people have proper series on it, and rip patches. Imma go and watch the rest of them now so i can start my own colonie on my minecraft world
R.I.P Patches 💀 Still catching up with my videos. Obviously I'm close to a week behind, but I've got the next video already queued up, after this one. Get ready for my next video comment in about 30 minutes 😁😁
I think the premiere thing is great - but I really appreciated that I was able to join late and still watch from the beginning - sometimes UA-cam premieres force you to watch it fully live without the option to rewind, and while I lost out on the chance to make live comments, it worked out perfectly that I could join 10 minutes late and still enjoy the video from beginning to end during my lunch time. Seems like lots of other people enjoyed the opportunity to live-comment, so I'd say stick with it!
U could actually teach the Plantation how to make sticks out of Bamboo... It's a great fuel source. Do not plant cactus since the colonists tend to stick between 4 cactii & die... You might as well make an automatic cactus farm near/in ur house where the colonists wont come & get stuck. You wud need cactii, sand, hopper, chest & a fence (to be placed two or three blocks above the cactii). Or u cud use the crafting recipe of Blue + Yellow = Green Dye in the Dyer's Hut when u build it since ther is not much use of it for anything else except building & dyeing. 😊 Also try silk touching the iron ore. It worked for me actually...
RIP patches herobrine, love the videos by the way. also don't want it live. rather have it there so I can watch it while I have coffee substitute the next morning
sjin: can't increase iron ore drops in vanilla(clearly has forgoten fortune is a thing). Also Sjin: well ore drops iron clumps now, se we have no way of getting iron ore blocks(clearly has forgotten that silk touch is a thing.) lol
RIP Patches Sadly didn't get to catch this live. You could have rotated the crushers hut so the big wheel wouldn't be underneath the overpass. Potentially you could put some fencing around the fishing area too, might reduce the deaths.
Yeah fisherman dies of "Hunger" and you killed a mob called "Hunger" in the water . RIP patches . Wonder what mod added that monster and if they are targeted by the guards or not
Could you possibly give us a tutorial video to get all the mods working together and what version of minecraft your using. Like is it Java or Bedrock, because I can't get anything to work. Better MC and Minecolonies seems to cause my game to crash together.
RIP Patches, may he have a rod in the afterlife. Might be a good time to look for a spot for the graveyard soon? Also, the miner collects the ores as they spawn in the world. So if you disable the smelter from smelting them, they will stack up into the warehouse. That said, it might be handy to have a second miner, just for the basic blocks they tend to gather or to set one as a quarryist later. When "fusing" the buildings with Create, you either need to do that at lvl 5 or give up on upgrading them. Though personally I like the looks of most of the lvl 5 buildings, its your choice if you'd like to keep them at a lower level. Shame I didn't manage to catch the Premiere, work had me a little to busy to squeeze out an extra 30 minutes, but I'd think its a nice way to chat more with the viewers and get some immediate reponse/tips~! Small little add-on maybe: Some clutter like barrels, haybales or the like alongside the roads? Flowers and hedges are nice, but I'd imagine that the industrial section wouldn't have much growth 🤔
Also sjin if you need to expand im sure you could make a bridge across the river and expand that way also i wouldn't mind streams the thing is it can be hard to turn streams into videos so its fine if you dont
Sjin: "What is this thing? Hunger? This must have killed Patches!"
Sjin 10 minutes later: "How did Patches die? Hunger?! Time to build a baker!"
I am really loving the focus on Minecolonies. It is hands down one of my favorite mods and it needs to have more play throughs like yours. All the other ones that I have watched for it just seemed to be so dull. Keep up the great work and stay positive!
Sjin, the monster you killed, the jaw one, was called Hunger, that's why Patches was slain by Hunger. RIP Patches fffffffffffffff
Another note about hunger mobs- if they bite you and you are wearing enchanted gear, it will reduce your enchant levels on that gear. For example Sharpness III if hit by the Hunger would downgrade to Sharpness II. When killed after stealing enchants, the hunger will drop Experience potions.

Rip Mr Patches. He is one with the sea now. The fishing hut is getting more haunted than ever with everyone drowing and dying in that vicinity.
No you’re right
Silk Touch = Iron Ore
Also minecolonies miner + cobble/stone = iron ore
"The fisherman who didnt even get to fish"
The colonists will mourn you and remember your legacy
RIP patches
Aside from that keep going with your awesome content Sjin
He just returned back to elden ring and murkwater cave

I was thinking the same thing. He should probably wait until the building is fully upgraded before he uses Create to animate the wheels.
Something I learned while playing minecolonies myself today is that if you use the builders wand and make the road decorations your colonists are more likely to use them rather than walking on nothing. (I had my own paths and they just kept walking to the side of them rather than on them)

RIP patches, u needed silk touch to get the iron ore, loving the village so far
RIP Patches. Hunger was the name of the weird big mouthed dog. He didn't actually die of hunger.
In 7 years of watching minecraft content, this is now my favorite series. Great job thank you.
"That was one salty dude - Sjin" on Patches' gravestone probably
honestly, been watching this series on the side, while also playing the same version. haven't caught up AT ALL, takes tons of time for minecolonies to do it's work. but for anyone that might be interested, if you don't have a second account to keep your colony running when you're gone, you can add in a chunk loader mod and use that to keep it loaded while you run around and scavenge the plethora of better minecraft buildings. got tons of materials and barely did any mining xP

But I totally agree - using silk touch would have been the way to go, even though it's too bad, the research is not using forge-tags instead
The fireproof upgrade for the miner will help near the lava levels.
Edit: at higher levels the plantation can have multiple crops selected.
RIP Patches! Anyway, for that free supply camp, you should look at the Caledonia styles (there are two of them for the camps). Those are my favorite decorative supply camps, because they are literally airships, which just look awesome to keep and have up around the place!

RIP Patches.
RIP in peace Patches. You were a man who wanted to fish, but never a fisherman.
Sjin the way you get ore blocks is enchant a pick with silk touch, you will then get the ore block. Love your videos!
The miner has a chance to mine "Ore blocks" as well. you just need to turn of the smelting of Iron ore at the smelter and it will gather in the warehouse over time
or u can just use silk touch to get the ores yourself :)
"Frickity Frack what the heck is that?" Love it.😄
RIP patches
he wishes he could fish, call him a wisherman
I'm in drastic need of some more episodes Sjin. Big fan of the series!
Rip patches you will be missed, so many dead colonist yet no graveyard to honor them
Patches, may he fish forever in the great big blue sea in the sky.
Ive allways had problems with trying to work out how to use this mod for some odd reason, so glad i found your series i dont think many people have proper series on it, and rip patches. Imma go and watch the rest of them now so i can start my own colonie on my minecraft world

Still catching up with my videos. Obviously I'm close to a week behind, but I've got the next video already queued up, after this one. Get ready for my next video comment in about 30 minutes 😁😁

Methinks the library is a good place for your otherwise unemployed folks to wait on a job without getting miserable
you can mirror the crushers hut to make the wheel further away from the platform
RIP Patches ! it's extremely fitting for a hunger based death though for you lol, even if it was a mob named hunger, still very funny
RIP Patches
U could actually teach the Plantation how to make sticks out of Bamboo... It's a great fuel source. Do not plant cactus since the colonists tend to stick between 4 cactii & die... Rip Patches, he wanted to prove he was a hero, and not a salty one
Pay the mustache tax sjin! We wanna see the gloriousness
RIP Patches Herobrine... your sacrifice shouldn't be in vain!
I'm facepalming 🤣 the weird thing you killed was called Hunger
R.I.P. Patches.

Pls
Sjin
This video will be the last chance to cure my soul after an extreme study session
RIP Patches may you fish in peace!
Another one walks into the sea…. RIP Patches
Ooooooh can't wait
You could have lowered the crusher's hut further into the ground to fit the height, I guess having a lower level is fine in that cave.
Can't wait for this video this gonna be worth a while
RIP Patches, you will be missed...
Rip patches he never got to show his skills with a rod 😔 you will remembered how you rest in the brine or glory 😁
The anticipation.....
I can hardly handle the anticip
I know right
ation
RIP Patches ... We hardly got to know you
Minecraft: Need silk touch to get the ore form
Sjin: I think this version is broken, its not giving me the ore when I mine it without silk touch
RIP Patches you have fished the last fish

Ah creative mod, for people who want to tell silktouch to F - OFF !
Also rip for the fisherman who never got to fish, the man the legend patches!
Vein Miner, thinking of the mod that mines a vein of ore all at the same time, is such a time saver
RIP patches
RIP Patches... Sjin, you can get iron ore block with silk touch
sjin: can't increase iron ore drops in vanilla(clearly has forgoten fortune is a thing).
Also Sjin: well ore drops iron clumps now, se we have no way of getting iron ore blocks(clearly has forgotten that silk touch is a thing.)
lol
You need a victory horn 📯
RIP Patches
Sadly didn't get to catch this live. You could have rotated the crushers hut so the big wheel wouldn't be underneath the overpass. Potentially you could put some fencing around the fishing area too, might reduce the deaths.
Turn off Smelt Iron Ore blocks in the smelter and they will stockpile in the warehouse. Or get silktouch and mine it yourself ;)
RIP Patches
Go fish off the side of the rainbow bridge 🌈
i really love anna hamilton
You need silk touch on your pick axe to mine iron ore blocks.
Honestly that wasnt the death by hunger I anticipated xD
F
i was excited for the premier, tho i genuinely forgot.
The hunger is the large head creature
🙂 as if you started live episodes whist I’m on my wheel on work haha for the water wheel will we get a little video for members and patreons?
Yeah fisherman dies of "Hunger" and you killed a mob called "Hunger" in the water . RIP patches . Wonder what mod added that monster and if they are targeted by the guards or not
Will we ever see Berym again or The Princess of Elfhiem
Could you possibly give us a tutorial video to get all the mods working together and what version of minecraft your using. Like is it Java or Bedrock, because I can't get anything to work. Better MC and Minecolonies seems to cause my game to crash together.
RIP Patches 🕯️💔
RIP Patches, may he have a rod in the afterlife.
Might be a good time to look for a spot for the graveyard soon? Also, the miner collects the ores as they spawn in the world. So if you disable the smelter from smelting them, they will stack up into the warehouse.

RIP Patches ! I missed the live, so I hope you do it again sometime
Nah the iron is fine, you just gotta use silk touch to pick it up in ore form
You need a silk touch pick to mine ores
rip in pieces, Patches
RIP Patches!
RIP Patches 😢
Rip patches 🪦
You better name the Dragon "Deez nuts" so it can be dragon deez nuts across your colony.
RIP Patches!!!
Rip Patches didnt deserve to die
Think we can get some immigration in the colony perhaps one or two buildings of a different style like Nordic and Asian?
yeah that's a really good idea, like a different district
Rip Patches!
Rip patches!
you should have just mined the iron ore with a silk touch pick
RIP PATCHES
RIP Patches…
Also sjin if you need to expand im sure you could make a bridge across the river and expand that way also i wouldn't mind streams the thing is it can be hard to turn streams into videos so its fine if you dont
