Kalki 2898 AD (pronounced [kə.l.kɪ]) is a 2024 Indian Telugu-language epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies. It was shot primarily in Telugu with some scenes re-shot in Hindi. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas in dual roles, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. It is the first instalment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe and inspired by Hindu mythology. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, the film follows the few selected who are on a mission to save the unborn child, Kalki, of SUM-80, a lab subject.

@@VARMOT123 I have seen it a few years back! It definitely helped me understand a few things Karna, Arjuna the Pandavas and Kaurunas were already familiar. I definitely want to read the Mahabharata now. Not sure if the Puranas ar accessible in English. I love epic stories!
Telugu cinema providing the next leap for Indian cinema yet again. Prabhas king of Indian box office and nag ashwin is next rajamouli. With the rajamouli mahesh babu combination coming sky is the limit for Telugu cinema.
Nag Ashwin is good, but let's not compare with Rajamouli. He brings pure brilliance of emotions.. 🎉 will forever be the greatest film

They tried something new there were flaws but the execution was almost perfect I think nag Ashwin will take all the feedback and come back with kalki 2 which will be a masterpiece

I've recently discovered the joy of Bollywood and Indian cinema. This was my first film in theatres and it did not disappoint. I agree with the mentioned shortcomings but ultimately loved it. This is the film Rebel Moon wishes it was. One of the best films this year.

Just finished watching KALKI here in Sydney, Australia….its India’s answer to the west…we too can make a KALKI UNIVERSE ..surprise package is Big B’s “VFX” fights, Prabhas on another level, KAMAL HAASAN..total goosebumps..highly recommended, starts getting hot after the interval block

So many times watching marvel, Dunes, star wars films referencing greek mythology or other western cultures left me jealous! Cause there’s so much our History has but never gets acknowledged! But boy, did they do this here. Perfect blend of history, scifi and acting!!

I am minimally familiar with the Mahabharata because I have seen Darna Veera Sura Karna and a few other Telugu Mythologicals, but I definetly want to read it now. Those Mahabharata segments were sooooo cool. I am non Desi and brought 3 non Desi friends and they all enjoyed it immensely even though they did not get the cameos and inside jokes. I am happy I was able to explain them!

I think Bollywood lost its luster, although they are doing phenomenal job holding on to the roots with lapatha ladies, rocky vs Rani but they cannot pull the audience from the couch to the theatre, we need more movies like this
My only criticism on this movie is the power balance, it's not consistent.
Spoiler ahead... don't blame me after!
sometimes Aswarthama can lift 10 men in full body Armor, can't lift Deepika, again can lift Deepika and prabas. Also he gets bogged down by those restraints, at first he can't free himself, but after prabas shines (what a fight and how Nag actually brought back Karna, i was expecting it's him but not sure because he is calling it a stick) Aswarthama frees himself from the same restraints that he was unable to before. So inconsistent.

Black Panther is more intimate, there are grand actions but the story is grounded and conflicts were real. In Kalki, sadly that's missing.

A lot 7:58 of expectations can be ruined. Watch the movie as a movie viewer not as critics, or a reviewer.
The point about inside jokes and all, its good of its done in a limit, you don't have to take away something like that to cater to international audience, because that's what makes it more interesting, imagine a Marvel movie without the inside jokes on American politics, it just feels superficial.
I understand it can add depth but some of them actually takes you out of the film, bahubali jokes to RGV cameo - not adding anything
