Great to see Elyse on this! Also this looks a lot bettee than even the trailer showed
Oh okay... this preview sold me A LOT MORE than the teailers. The trailers made it seem like a really pulled out top down camera, animal crossing style and it really didnt sell the environments and characters compared to the actual gameplay. My wife saw the trailer and wishes she could live the hobbit life and went "meh." But saw this and went. "OOOOHHH okay!"
Sounds great! Did you get any indication if we'd be traveling anywhere outside of Bywater? Would be a shame to have Hobbiton and Bag End so close without being able to pay a visit!
Love the postman bit of not being a postman but delivering people's letters and packages. Reminds me of Kramer moments like:
"You got any ipecac? Mickey just swallowed a lot of aspirin."
"Did he overdose?!"
"... No it's just too much."
Elyse!!!
Exactly who I was thinking of during the reveal. Let's make this the new Doom/Animal Crossing game.
ELYSE WILLEMS RETURNS. DREAMS COME TRUE
Thanks this sounds great
Disappointed they didn't rate those grippers
Turtle doves fly once again!
Elyse gang 🙌🏽
Is there pipe weed and beer in this game? We need answers lol
Are there story missions and like a definitive end, or is it just a cozy game and goes on forever?
Great preview!
IS Weta Games tied to Weta FX?
Weta Workshop makes physical props for the FX team and is also making this game --- i'm not sure how much of the FX talent crosses over.
@@charoleawoodI would low key love it if they made figures based on these designs.
@@Ryotsu2112
They're fun designs.
Weta Workshop of course did all that physical stuff people see in Jackson's movies, so there are plenty of physical resources for them to look at --- though the dev team may not work closely at all with the film side of the company.
Going on to Weta Workshop's site doesn't provide any links to Tales of the Shire.
A search engine is required to find the game, but there at the bottom left is the link to Weta Workshop.
Seems like a strange use of LotR, but I'm not that attached to the series, so I don't know. It looks good. I wonder if you'll get non-Hobbit visitors to town?
The Shire has always been a place of comfort and peace in LOTR, and was 100% inspired by the british countryside Tolkien lived in and missed during the war (even though he hated metaphors and links to real experiences, but it's kinda hard to not acknowledge the lot of places and situations in the books that could relate to his war experience)
think i saw a dwarf lady in one of the trailers (probably as a merchant?) and Gandalf too, so assume different people will visit yeah :)
A wizard is never late…
the trailer definitely showed a wizard...
i would really appreciate a game like this to focus on the logistics of ordering furniture and materials via letter and getting them hand delivered as individual physicalized objects --- elements that were important to describing Bilbo's birthday party in the book.
i am very turned off by what feels to me like a cheat menu where you can just order and place objects divorced from the diegetic act of doing so.
i know it is standard for this kind of game, but to me farming/life simulators need to level up the simulation and life elements.
No more square plots for planting, no more asset menus making things appear out of thin air, a greater focus on day to day life and its therapeutic elements.
i also want these spaces to feel more like hobbit holes --- i'm talking dirt floors and walls with little in the way of modern adornment.
This feels like a fantasy home decorating application, not like a hobbit hole.
And if we are to have wood flooring i want players to have to do the work of cutting the wood, making it all fit together and polishing it should that be what they desire.
i'd also love to see some of the ways Viva Piñata simulated a wild environment and random, non square arrangements --- perhaps Everwild can do this? --- though Piñata is far from getting all the way to what i'm suggesting for a game putting us in the toes of a hobbit living her best life.
can't you like talk., without using like, like all the time?
don't like it don't watch
welcome to california
can you, like, learn to chill out maybe?
Bit of a nitpick innit
Naming my hobbit Pervince 🤓 iykyk
I bounced off Stardew Valley, it didn't appeal to me much, but being as much as a LOTR fan as Elyse, I'll likely sink hours on end on this game.
You mean Tales of the Jire with Spervince, right? 😉 IFKYK
iydkydk, and that's myself
I don't like the faces of the characters, but everything else looks pretty good visually.
😂😂😂😂😂 Her name's Elyse
Never thought I'd see a Funhause (RIP) Collab. Unless shes been on before.
They all worked together at GameTrailers way way back
Elyse used to work at GameTrailers and she's been on a few EZA things already like the Life is Strange Spoiler Modes
So cozy. Just like old times with the OG GT crew.
Omg!!! Elyse is back ❤
I can't wait 🥺🥹😍
It looks amazing! Can't wait to play it!
Middle earth might be one of the worst handled ip ever.
