  • Here is quick update on my Caprice. It is dirty so please look past that. It was in storage all winter and I have not had much time to keep up with its cleanliness. Thanks for checking me out.

    @BIGJAYKING You drain the coolant and then unbolt the water pump... it is pretty straight forward.. it's only held on by 4 bolts.

  • @dcmroady
    @dcmroady  13 років тому

    @Reekoslav a trunk lid spoiler and grill. The interiorwas grey leather buckets with a center console. The 96 Impala had a floor shifter and an analog guage cluster. The LT1 engine is rated at 260hp. I hope this answers your questions and if you have any more let me know.

    @Yayington You are talking about doing the waterpump swap correct? You are right. I forgot about that step I have already removed mine.

    it would help to get all 4 snow tires but all seasons are good too. these cars are not too bad in the snow.

  • @dcmroady
    @dcmroady  13 років тому

    @Reekoslav the LT1 was only available on 94-96 caprice classics that were optioned with the TOWING PACKAGE. All LT1 cars had dual exhaust and all L99 cars has single exhaust. The LT1 and L99 engines look identical under the hood. The only difference between 94 and 95-96 cars is the placement of the side mirrors and the shape of the rear quarter glass. An Impala SS is just a Caprice is the WX3 option code. This code gives it LT1 17" wheels, monochrome paint, lowered suspensiom, performance rear

    @jamalechols like someone else said, look at the emissions sticker under the hood. It will say 5.7 or 4.3. You can also look at the 10th digit of the VIN it will be a W for L99 and P for LT1. One more spot, look at the white label under the trunk lid look for "L99" or "LT1".

  • @Yayington
    @Yayington 14 років тому

    @dcmroady 6 bolts on L99 and LT motors. On a factory setup, the AIR pump has to be removed, as with the bracket behind it.

    @Reekoslav I'll try to explain the best I can. There will be people who will disagree with what I say but I have 6 years experience with these cars. I have owned almost 10 total caprices and roadmasters so I know all the differences and options available.
    91-92 caprices are the same bodystyle and interior. They were available with a throttle body fuel injected V8 that was a 305 cubic inch 5.0 liter rated at 170hp. This engine was called the L03. The top of the line LTZ model and the 9c1 police

  • @dcmroady
    @dcmroady  13 років тому

    @Reekoslav package cars were available with the same engine in a 350 cubic inch 5.7 liter aka the L05. Rated at 190hp in 91 9c1 and 91-93 LTZ and 205 in 92 9c1. The 93 caprice had an open rear wheel well and that was the only difference. 91-93 cars were all single exhaust. 94-95 caprice classic and 9c1 both came standard with a 4.3l 265 cubic inch v8 rated at 200hp called the L99. 94 also saw a new dashboard design. The famous 5.7L 350 cubic inch LT1 was OPTIONAL on 9c1 police package and ...

    @87CANDYBLUEBOX When you open the trunk and look inside there are 2 spin off "hooks" towards the side of the car. Spin them off. Then, on top of the tail light there is 1 10mm bolt for each side. Then the light come right out.

    here's the difference:
    impala : leather, console, anolog gauge, no chrome trim, higher differential ratio, front grill, floor shifter, 2 electric fan, lower suspension (about 1 inch), carbon suspension, bigger swaybar (not sure), rear disc brake and 5.7 lt1 only engine offered for SS
    Caprice : none of these thing exept LT1 in option (also the bigger sway bay, 1 electric fan and bigger drum brake (11 inch instead of 9 inch) if you have the B4U towing package

      MrDtangedahl the drivers side is straight forward. Its the passenger side thats a pain in the ass. You are better off going through the wheel well. Take the tire off. Also, you will need an assortment of extensions and wobble joints.

    • @dcmroady
      @dcmroady  10 років тому

      Roy Diedesch The L99 looks identical to the LT1. There is nothing in my video that actually proves its an LT1. It doesnt matter because I installed this LT1 myself from a 1994 Buick Roadmaster wagon. There is no dual tail pipes because the aftermarket dual exhaust I have installed does not have tail pipes. It is dumped after the mufflers. Reeko Suave
