@randya103 the same way... im just using the two pound weights as my sticks. I purchased heavy duty rubber bands to alternate use with my resistance band.

Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting a few sets for me and my boys but couldn’t justify the cost. Followed your directions and used the black bands from Amazon. I added fat gripz pro series that I had and now the bands stay at constant tension so I can just pick up ands go

You can get the official bands real cheap i just bought 12 of the thick bands and 16 thinner ones (because I am an out of shape lady lol). So those can make 6 and 8 sets of ripright sticks for $30 with shipping and tax. Im going to get thicker 2 inch diameter PVC and get my friends to try it out. I think thicker PVC and the official bands will create a better more constant resistance without the slack from the cheapo bands

@@TrillWill24 i posted the link but just google ripright bands. They were disappointing just get some 1.5- 2inch runner bands. That is all they are anyway marked up 15x

Perfect!Actually, the pipe caps offer a better design than the original because they prevent slipping of bands. This was genius on your part. Just bought the official bands on order and im going to get some thicker PVC pipe handles. The legit bands are cheap enough you can get the high resistance for $15/12 bands and $15/16 smaller half resitance bands.
I got the PVC Pipe and caps and have already put the sticks together, I'm just waiting for the bands from Amazon, thanks for posting this
Glad to help! The camping bands I put in the description work the best. You’ll probably need 4; 2 top, 2 bottom.

Great idea. Just to add i would make the pvc pipe alot bigger to work the forearm(2-3 inch size) add sand to increase weight and use pvc glue for the caps. Or keep same size pvc and add the fat gripz to get that forearm burning

Great for taking guesswork out of making these. I was thinking through this as well, but like the idea of using the caps, which I had not thought about since the original does not have caps. I was also trying to think about what to use as bands...using simple rubber bands in multiples makes a lot of sense.... Two questions:
1. why 3/4" I was thinking 1" which is close to the standard grip on bars, and would work your grip better?
2. is there a pdf anywhere for exercises -- which is more convenient for me than watching youtube vids

Quick general question to anyone out there. It seems the size of the rip stick is a little bigger than 3/4 inch. Has anyone experimented w bigger pipe? If so what have you found to work.

You’re welcome. Actually, the wider diameter pipe you have, the more grip strength you can develop.
Looks like 1.5" some of riprights older videos showed him making the sticks making cuts on circular saw

I made one also but I added sand to it. It gives it a little weight to it and increases the work out

Yes, Professor Marvin Gatling was the originator. You’re correct. I found that out after I made the video and I included that information in subsequent videos.
Supposedly this idea came about from an army general? An army general created the first apparatus that would later become this . Does anyone the history behind that?

Ripstick inventor was general Marvin Gatling from Brooklyn, NY. Ripctick's first name was "The Toy". Later on, Marvin Gatling just before passing away; gave the patent rights to his martial arts student Ben Diesel who started marketing it as "Resistix" and Shuaib Islaam learned about it from Diesel and "borrowed" it'; renaming it to "Ripstick".

Professor Marvin Gatlings invented that when he was in the Vietnam war with two sticks of bamboo and two rubber bands. Don't take my word for it, go look it up and fact check it for your self. This was not invited on America soile. He has videos of himself on 125th Street in new York, teaching the science of this Toyka. Toyka is the original name of this masterpiece.
Yes! I found that out a few weeks after I made the first video and corrected it on the second one. Great device! It’s a great concept using time under tension for hypertrophy. That’s how the gymnasts get yoked!

All the workouts that you are trying to do with a ripstick were created specifically for a Resistix, which has different dimensions. The work will not be effective without the correct devices and dimensions

This legit makes no sense.. pulling out on it will only build rear deltoid, traps, lats, and rhomboids. Guy in the advertisement claims it's full body..pulls out and moves arms as if he's hitting chest 😵💫😓 guessing there may be other ways to use it but seemed like he was playing it up as full body workout which to me seems real scammy 😔. . Legit think the shake weight is a better invention but I'm biased cuz I invented it...... and had the idea stolen smh..but still😅
