Evolution of venomous legless lizards

Snakes have a fascinating evolutionary history, going back over 100 million years. They evolved from burrowing lizards and lost their limbs over time, which helped them become more efficient at moving through various environments.
Today, snakes are found almost everywhere, from forests to deserts. Their bodies are designed for stealth, making them excellent hunters. One of the most interesting things about snakes is how they eat. They can swallow prey much larger than their heads because of their flexible jaws and stretchy skin.
