Hello very nice your going to have to keep your first board and hang it up as a memento of the day. The insects there that's noisy. Great job I need to find one also. Have a great night.
That wood is beautiful!! It would make a beautiful coffee table. Take about 3 of them, place side by side and make them water proof and put glass on it. It would be something you could pass on to your children someday. Made from an old tree on the farm.
Maybe throw down a tarp to easily pick up your sawdust... seems like you could use it for a lot of things? Bedding calf pens, add to compost pile, mulch for garden, chicken coup. Just thinkin, maybe it's a dumb idea. I can see a thickness planer and a table saw in your future! I don't think most guys woodworking hobbies starting with a sawmill but what the heck!? LOL
Awesome video sweet to get to here it run and watch it work .. make some beams and and bunch of 2x4 and 1x4 in future I think you will make some money ..my buddy built a new dog kennels building and incubator building the other day he said new beams not even pressure treated went up 300% and even buying used ones from tore down chicken house's the price on those was still up 120%
Be careful of fence line trees , most likely to have hardware , and even if it's one old fence staple your blade is sure to find it . Good luck , and enjoy
I’ve got to figure out the best way to dry all the wood I cut first. I’m thinking a solar wood kiln 🤔 maybe??. But yes, I’d like to start making some things with some of the lumber I produce. Thanks for watching!
Yeah you are supposed to walk along the side but I need to add another support brace to the back of the mill. When I just push from one side, the other side jumps down the track and lags behind a bit. I’m hoping to fix that soon. I’m not sure if it’s a safety hazard or not 😂 your guess is as good as mine lol
You need to push it from the side. Safety is a numbers game. The saw will always win. The reason is the saw gets thousands shots at you and only has to win once.
Thanks for bringing that up, Edward; I don't know if the rig doesn't give a decent view of the work area or if the rig wants to flex or bind when operated from the side. In any case, cutting while climbing inside the framework is death-defying.
I’ve gotten that comment a couple of times. And you were correct, it keeps wanting to flex when pushing it from the side. I guess I’m going to have to add a bar to brace it! I didn’t realize it was that dangerous! Thanks for the heads up guys!!!

Be careful of nails and wire that trees grow around. That is the first thing I though of when you said where you got your log. Nails, staples and wire turn to shrapnel when your blade hits them. That problem used to kill and injure sawmill workers - regularly.
The solution....which...iirc...you mentioned previously...could be to use a metal detector for pieces of suspect wood....might save your mill and your life....just sayin' and agreein'...
Looks so awesome wished I had a sawmill hopefully soon one day wished I could meet you in person and visit I think you are amazingly talented and would be an honour to meet you keep up the great work buddy
Do you have cider or red pine where you live ?? I would like to see you cut up some boards and fix up some of the old buildings People do not realize what it costs to build new
You got a really nice looking supply of lumber from that log. Glad that you got a pleasant surprise when just practicing. Do you do any carpentry projects?
You almost got anough to build a picnic table that wood will make something nice maybe a table or a a chair or some other piece of furniture or part of a pigeon loft or chicken coop ..
Make a chicken tractor or two from the pieces, and maybe a box for gathering eggs. From. What I understand a huge expense is the wood, so you can make it light from this. It may be too late to start chickens but getting the chicken tractors ready will help you, and slowly help you on the regenerative path on the ranch.
I hope you keep this mill ... looking great 👍...nice looking wood...
Very nice!! Beautiful wood. A nice little change from cows and pigs!! Thanks for sharing. Peace from SW Florida 🤗🤗!!

Beautiful wood. God way to recoup ur sawmill investment. I was impressed with how ur shirt showed the muscle and tone of ur upper body.

Yes. Been there done that
now it is time to learn how to do an epoxy table
it would bring an amazing color and texture on that old woodgrain

I am CLUELESS....being on side/outside tracks seems a bit safer! All the best!

Seems to cut alright, and yes the junk logs always seem to hide Alot of good wood, got a few to cut in the next or so.
so really beautiful video i love it
See if you can find a manual on it if not maybe you can download one it'll give you the specs to tork the blade
