Yes! I was walking into school when my colleague was walking out. She was going home to get her phone to call her brother, who was in the first tower. Our principal suggested she take the day off, but she felt the students would be a great distraction. She called often leaving voice messages. She believed he was alive because his phone kept ringing. He made it down and out of the tower before it collapsed but kept walking before he took the time to call and say he was ok. He had gone to work early to get a head start on his project, grabbed a cup of coffee, stood by the window, and saw the plane crash above his head into the building. Praise God he grabbed his briefcase (where his phone was located) and left immediately!
A Absolutely. I’m a retired police officer from Canada. On that morning I was working at Traffic Court. As the morning went on, it felt like Traffic Court was no longer important. It felt like the world, as we knew it, had changed and fighting a speeding ticket just seemed so petty. I will never forget that day.
Yes. I was 6 months pregnant with my second daughter at work in lower Manhattan. I was one of those people that had to walk over the bridge. I heard the 1st tower fall and watched the 2nd tower fall when I got to the Brooklyn bridge. That’s a day I will never forget.
Awww I felt sorry for the man who ran so hard only to realise he was running towards the wrong ship. Can't even imagine how hard his heart was bounding thinking he missed his ship. Happy ending after all🤗
A - Yes, I was working for Time Warner Cable company, in SC, and a manage’s office behind my cubicle had a television on; I could see the national news. I especially remembered seeing that second plane hit the World Trade Center, such a devastating loss…… something you’ll never forget🇺🇸
Yes. I was in first or second grade when it happened. We were at our morning recess, but everyone came inside to watch tv in the cafeteria/gym (it was a small school). I don’t have too many memories from 1st grade, but I’ll never forget that day.
I was on duty (FDNY) and responded with my unit to the north tower. We arrived just as the south tower got hit. We made it up to the 22nd floor of the north tower when the south tower collapsed. We lost 9 firefighters from my firehouse.
A - Yes I remember - a sad day indeed. I was on a road trip from Richmond VA to Raleigh NC for a business meeting. I was driving in my car when I heard about the attack. Thanks to both you and Kelly for your service.
9/11 was working night shift at a Hospital ER, and end it up not leaving till 48 hrs later due to the Heavy influx of emotional distress Patients As We also were .. NEVER FORGET . May God Bless All Victims.
A. Like you, I was active duty Army. I was assigned to the Pentagon. My office had moved out to the Skyline complex due to renovations. I watched the plane fly at treetop level up Columbia Pike and crash into the Pentagon. It was several hours before I knew that my husband and my sister were not in that wedge of the Pentagon. I was supposed to be there myself, meeting an old friend for coffee - but he asked to postpone, he had to attend a meeting. That meeting was in the E ring conference room where the plane crashed into the building. To recap - my husband, my sister, and I were all supposed to be in the impact area and for various odd reasons we were not. My friend, LTC Neil Hyland, was killed instantly in the initial impact.
Hi Lynn! So sad. I appreciate you. Such a blessing that you and your family were not in the building. We lost a lot of good people on that day. Thanks for your service!
A, I was at home and saw it on TV. Perhaps more interesting to this group, we had a cruise the next week. Security had more than doubled--we went thru the standard baggage screen, body detectors to enter the terminal but there was an entire additional set up before approaching the gangway. In addition, there were dogs and handlers sniffing the second line with signs saying to not approach, pet, etc. the dogs. I motioned to a handler and asked if the prescription drugs in my bag would be a problem. He kindly said that these were not drug dogs; these are explosive detection dogs.
A~Yes! I will never forget. I live in Upstate NY. Driving over a bridge over a large lake that morning, thinking this is the most beautiful day EVER!! Got to work and everyone was huddled in horror over what was taking place. I have family that worked in Manhattan and we were all safe but still to this day..shattered. I love America so much and will never forget that day.
Yes. I will never forget. I walked into my next class that i was teaching. Having to talk to my students when they asked me "why" was one of the most difficult questions i ever faced. My prayers to the families of two of my former students who lost their lives. You are always in my heart.
A - Yes, at home (slept in) my wife left me a message to turn on the TV and something really bad was happening. Also thank you for your service to our country!! And glad they found the scam, they should really seek legal charges against these folks.
Yes, I am Canadian, I witnessed that day from start to finish. That was hard, my husband had to rush into work to receive people from any rerouted planes, I got a call partway through the day that my brother Joe was supposed to be there for an interview. Every time someone jumped I wondered if it was him. We didn't hear until 3 days later that his interview had been cancelled and he was ok. But I can never forget or describe the feeling of witnessing those people fall. I will never forget.
I was downtown Manhattan in our building at One Liberty Plaza right across the street from WTC. I am a 911 survivor who was there when both towers collapsed.
Ohhhh can’t imagine … I was in a building at broadway and exchange place, so couple blocks down . Too close not to have PTSD for the rest of my life. With the current state of the border, it’s a matter of when, not if they invent and apply another way of destruction. So that’s a slap on the face for those who opened the border to show up at ground zero this year …
What a coincidence. My dad was working in Penn Station, New York. He actually was supposed to meet his friend at the Au bon Pain Deli on the ground floor of the WTT, but she had a meeting in Washington DC instead. He would have been on the 23rd floor.
Yes. I was at work in NYC Village area. Co workers said a plane came low overhead. Then a friend who worked in New Jersey told me the WTC was on fire. I walked to the window and saw the second plane hit. I called my friend who worked on the 77th floor in tower 1 and he was told to stay in the office. I told him to get out. He received oxygen once he walked down the stairs and he was able to go home safely. So sad I remember it like yesterday.
Yes, I was at a truck repair shop in Beaumont TX. I had walked into the driver lounge where I saw the first tower burning on the TV screen. As I watched, the second tower got hit at which point I went from concerned to extremely angry.
A-Yes Was in the center isle putting out groceries in our family corner store in Newburgh, NY. A gentleman working in the liquor store across the street came in telling us about what was currently happening in NYC and well like many I was like NO WAY! Sad day for everyone. Prayers for all who suffered any losses that day and further on...
A. Yes, I remember where I was. I was a senior in High school & was walking to my 1st class. My choir trip that spring was to NYC & I got to see ground zero.
I was a police officer on duty at the time. I’m from Montreal Canada. Everyone one on duty was freaking out watching what was happening in NYC. And also, the Montreal Police Department was on edge not knowing what was going on and everyone was wondering can this happen downtown Montreal? Truly a sad day for everyone regardless where they were.
I remember. We got home late the night before from Atlanta antique show. I was frying livermush and cooking grits when the news showed the first plane hit. I will never forget. We had the same thing for supper tonight and talked about that horrible morning.
A- yes. I was in 3rd grade and I remember my teacher just gathered us around and let us know that are parents would be coming to pick us all up early. I remember my parents holding back tears when they were trying to explain to their 3rd and 2nd grader kids what had just happened.
Yes. I was working in a chart room at Central Virginia Community Services in Lynchburg VA. 1st plane hits and my coworker stated we are under attack. She instantly knew. When the towers fell, we stared in utter disbelief. After the shock wore off, the realization of it hit home that people….lots of people just died. CVCS is a mental health center, so we had crisis counselors to speak with. But no work was done after this.
Hello. I was in the hospital watching it on TV thinking it was a disaster movie. I worked in one of the towers for about 1 months before returning to my office in Houston. I was scheduled to go back, but ended up in the hospital primarily due to exhaustion. I was very fortunate.
Yes. Getting ready for work. The drive along the interstate was eerie because there were no planes in the sky that day and normally I saw multiple planes on my way there and back.
A- yes. I sat studying at the empty college café and saw during the live news when the second plane hit. As a Swede it was horrendous news but it didn't hit home until a friend at the dorm could not reach her father who had an early flight from New York that morning and she didn't know which flight he was on.
From an Ex British Army Soldier, thank you for your service Jason. Yes on Sept 11th we had just flew home to Wales in the UK from Canada. Heartbreaking, we watched everything unfold, the aftermath was something I wish never to see again. May all their lives be resting in peace.
Hi Phil! I appreciate your service too my Friend. I spent a lot of time in the "sand box" and did a few operations with some great British soldiers. You are top-notch warriors! Appreciate you!
A I was in an airport in Las Vegas headed home right when the 2nd plane hit the Twin Tower. So sad it was 3 days before we were able to get home. Such a tragic day.
I was a police officer taking an emergency vehicle operator course, we watched the tragedy unfold on the television prior to the training starting, I will never forget the sadness and anger of the moment, God bless our first responders past, present and future. Thank you for your service Jason (ex 11 Bravo). Take care.
Appreciate you and your service too my Friend! I started out as an infantryman at good 'ol Sand Hill in Fort Benning too. Once "infantry" is in you, it just sort of stays there. God bless you Brother!
A = I lived in lower Manhattan at the time and was headed to 1 Broadway for work. I was in the subway and everyone had to get out. I got up to the street and could see the flames coming from the building. By the time I walked back home I watched both towers fall live on television. Our neighborhood was locked down for a week after the tragedy. It is a day that I will never forget.
A. I was working in Westchester county and witnessed the buildings collapse on TV. My wife ( who worked midtown) actually witnessed each tower going down.
Yes. Giving a tour of our new office building to local politicians, when it showed up on the news on TVs around the building. We witnessed the 2nd building getting hit, as it happened. Sad day 😢
Yes, was at my job. Someone said a cessna hit the WTC was the first thing I heard so didn't really worry about it. Ofcourse that changed pretty quickly. Scary thing that happened I think the next day or so. We were out on a upper balcony of our office building and all of a sudden a plane flied very and I mean very close to our building. I think it actually was flying to the wrong airport or something odd happened. Worked at a major retailer so they were on high alert for any sort of attacks.
We were on the Harmony when the accident occurred. So Sad. On another note, thank you for turning us on to Roatan 5 Stars! Great company and our guide Daniel was fabulous!
I was in a conference room at my company's offices preparing for a meeting at 2 World Trade later that day. Luckily the original breakfast meeting had been postponed by the client the previous day.
I was a gyn/pp /ld nurse at a local hospital in Titusville, Fl. Our doctors were doing rounds and a patient told us about tower 1. We then saw tower 2 go down. The space center and Disney were then shut down . That’s when the severity set in 😢🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Never forget
A-home. My mom was flying home that morning from Boston on American Airlines and the family was beside themselves until we heard from her. She was fine , rented a car and made it home safely .
A Yes. Downtown Houston working at (at the time) El Paso Energy. Downtown was eventually evacuated, traffic was chaotic, they skies were clear and zero air traffic which was creepy. It was the most surreal chain of events.
I was on a treadmill having a cardiac stress test. All the nurses left me and went to the nurses station to watch the news. So much for a monitored test. 😊
My birthday is September 11. I turned 18 that day and today I turned 41. I was in HS in Scotch Plains NJ. It was second period on the second day of school. There isn’t a day I don’t think about that Tuesday morning. I still remember driving back home on RT22 and seeing the smoke in Manhattan.
Yes, I was at home in Florida watching the Today show. My brother worked for the Bank of New York right next door to the towers. My other brother and I were frantically trying to contact him. He actually saw everything and was evacuated from his building.😥
I was driving my teenage brother to high school in Albuquerque and we heard it on the radio. Got back home and watched it with my wife. Truly tragic. 🇺🇸
A- yes. My mother came in the house and woke me up telling me about it. I went in the living room and turned on the TV to watch. My grandmother had just passed away and I remember telling my mom and my grandfather that she would have worried herself over it. Then I went to work and we watched it on the TV the rest of the day.
@TheTravelScouts That's awesome! Home schooling was one of the most favorite memorable times of my life. Now our 3 children are grown, married and have given us 10 amazing grandchildren. Really appreciate and enjoy your youtube channel. Thank you!😊 ❤️🛳
A - I certainly do. I was in a recovery room with my mother-in-law when she came out of surgery. I heard the nurses talking about what happened but I thought they were talking about a movie they had watched. When one of the nurses came into the recovery room I asked her about the movie. She told me it wasn’t a movie and proceeded telling me what happened. I was shocked.
Re: 9/11 I was at my business in Greenpoint Brooklyn and we always had a small tv on. I heard the news about a small plane hitting the Twin Towers and climbed up in my roof from where I had a clear view right to the Towers. I could tell right away that it was no small plane, and I just kept thinking..there are people dying right at that moment!😢
I was teaching a middle school life science class when our PE teacher called me over and whispered that a plane had flown into one of the two towers; I returned to the lesson (we were learning about mitochondria and other organelles), when minutes later she returned to tell me that another tower had been hit. At that point we knew it was intentional. We dismissed to the assembly room where we sat mesmerized and shocked as we watched the news. After a half an hour or so, our principal led us in prayer for the people involved and their families. I didn’t get more teaching done that day, but the conversations about spiritual things were so much more important.
YES! - Sydney Australia - Just got into bed when the (then, no longer) boyfriend said to get out into the loungeroom & see what's happening on TV in New York - Total & utter disbelief. Never went back to bed. Was just glued to the TV praying for everyone, as "9-11" unfolded. Seeing the 2nd plane, was just heart-wrenching. No one could ever, & should never, forget that day.🙏
I was 16, in 11th grade History class in Houston, Tx. Our teacher, Mr Gaspar, who was always so goofy and funny; came into the room very serious...and turned on the TV. The whole room fell silent after that. It was literally like a scene from a movie
Definitely A. I was still home getting ready for an appointment for my car. My husband was at our office already. I called him and told him to turn on the office tv. It was an unbelievably eerie experience. I had an aunt who lived in an apartment on FDR Drive in NYC. Needless to say I was very worried. Could not reach her by phone. I only imagined that she was on the street somewhere doing some shopping. She was elderly. I was afraid that she would be trampled by all of the people running. Luckily I was wrong. She was with my cousin, her daughter, on Long Island. Prayers answered!
A. I worked at Murphy Hall on the University of Kansas campus. I had a 102 degree fever that day and stayed home sick as a dog. My roommate came home from work and asked if I knew what happened. I couldn't believe what I saw when she turned on the TV. My heart was breaking for the families. My mom knew a lot of people in one of the towers. Her home office was there. She had traveled to New York for business conferences many times.
One, I did not know of your service. Thank you. 23.5 years US Navy here…retired as a Chef Petty Officer. Second, I do remember where I was when the Twin Towers were hit. I was on my way taking g my Dayton day care when it was reported on the Don Imus radio show. After dropping my daughter off I went home, turned on my TV and watched the fall of the first then a little later, the second tower. I lost friends in the towers and at the Pentagon. It was a sad and horrible day. I pray it is never forgotten.
I ran with my 4 month old son to the top of my building and saw the 2nd plane. I worked in every World Trade Center building, and it was devastating. Also, my sister's bestie, Tara Hobbs, left us...she was in the 1st Tower. RIP Tara❤❤
A I was at work at a country club in Fl. No tv but remembered being around a radio and heard a man on his cell phone who was on his cell phone on the 27th floor. It was and is a tragic senseless loss of life that no one will forget. That night I went to church and held hands with a stranger and just prayed.
A Yes I was at work. My boss called me into her office in tears as she had what was happening on a TV screen. We sat there watching when the second plane took out the second tower. It was soooo sooo sad.
A. Yes I was 25 years old and 8 months pregnant with my son and had two little toddler girls, the girls tv had been playing a VCR tape, which had gotten to the end and stopped, live tv came back on and I turned around and couldn't believe my eyes. My husband was a kitchen manager at Perkins and had spilled milk all over himself that morning and came home to take a quick shower, I ran screaming into the bathroom to tell him about what was happening. He then left back to work and my mom called, we stayed on the phone together all day and both watched with disbelief as the events unfolded. I started crying that day which lasted for weeks, I was so heartbroken. All the people looking for their loved ones, gut wrenching. In 2002 we took the kids to the statue of liberty and just looked across at the blank space in the skyline where the towers once stood and we all cried. So awful.
@@TheTravelScouts For sure, I have guessed you are moving for Florida, join us, we live in west palm beach, we cruise all the time from our various ports, we can fly from PBI, FLL, MIA, MCO etc to anywhere, it's a great stage of life now, kiddies are 26, 24, 22 & 14 :)
A. I was in an 8th grade classroom with my students when an announcement came over the intercom telling us what had happened and to turn on our classroom TV. I will never forget the shock and horror.
A. Stopped in to visit my niece and nephew, toddlers. Beautiful blue skies, green trees, sun shining. I feel like it’s etched into me. Sitting on the white sofa. The brown wooden floor. Watching the second tower being hit, took my breath away. Time changed in that moment. I feel like it’s happening again
Yes I was on maternity leave, my son was 1 month and 1 day when the terrorist attack occurred. Husband was in the military. It's a day I will not forget
A, I was a Paramedic on duty in Fort Myers Florida. I was dropping a patient off at the ER when I saw the second plane crash into the towers on the TV.
As a former pilot for AAL I had landed in ORD from LHR the evening before from a 6-day trip. I was laying on bed at home with the TV on listening to CNBC when Mark Johnson (rip) reported that a plane had apparently hit the WTC. I rolled over at that the exact moment the 2nd plane hit. My thought was that's a 767, not a small plane. Like many American we were all in shock and disbelief. And like many, lost friends on that tragic day. Never Forget....
I was a Canadian Armed Forces peacekeeper operating in Bosnia on 9/11. I was actually sleeping due to the time-zone difference, but saw all the horrow as soon as I entered the Task Force HQ and saw colleagues gathered to watch the news.

I was working for American Airlines on 9/11/01. Thank you for your service.
A - at work and everyone was sent home. Spent the next 2 days on the couch watching the coverage.
I really appreciate the hurricane updates AND maps you present. Thanks. Keep 'em coming 😎👍
A= was sitting at a red light in Elk Grove, CA in front of a Lowe’s.
That’s when the severity set in 😢🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Never forget
A - At work as a Paramedic in upstate NY. As we watched the events unfold, we immediately prepared for deployment to NYC
I was on a treadmill having a cardiac stress test. All the nurses left me and went to the nurses station to watch the news. So much for a monitored test. 😊
Yes! I was a dispatcher for the Sheriff's Department and it was a very trying day!
HI Sheryl! Yes, for sure. I appreciate you and your work in that role. I am sure that can be a tough job at times.
❤NAS Whitingfield . I was an MP assigned to fire station and 911 dispatch. I was on watch when it happened.
A- I was at work, everything stopped, and we sat and listened to the radio coverage.
Working at the post office near Ohare field and hearing complete silence when planes were grounded . It was eerie
A- Yes I remember vividly. We were stationed at Fort Benning, GA(now Fort Moore).
I was in the Pentagon, opposite side. Second day on the job there.
Yes; left the hospital and my 20 min ride turned into an 1 1/2 hrs to get home from my night shift .
I was homeschooling my son and 4 nieces and nephews. What a morning of schooling... I'm sure a lesson they will "NEVER FORGET".😢🇺🇸🗽
Hi Pam! Just a side note, but we homeschool too. Thanks for sharing your story. Very sad day!
@TheTravelScouts That's awesome! Home schooling was one of the most favorite memorable times of my life. Now our 3 children are grown, married and have given us 10 amazing grandchildren. Really appreciate and enjoy your youtube channel. Thank you!😊
❤️🛳
A - I certainly do. I was in a recovery room with my mother-in-law when she came out of surgery. I heard the nurses talking about what happened but I thought they were talking about a movie they had watched. When one of the nurses came into the recovery room I asked her about the movie. She told me it wasn’t a movie and proceeded telling me what happened. I was shocked.
Yes... we had just started our homeschooling day when a friend called to tell us to turn the tv on. We watched all day and cried.
Hi Stewart and Bonnie! Just a side note, but we homeschool too. Thanks for sharing your story!
Oh wow. I can't imagine being that close how much more intense the entire situation must have seemed. Appreciate you Brother!
Hi Jeffrey! Thank you. I appreciate you and your service. Sorry for your loss on that day my Friend. Sad day for sure.
I ran with my 4 month old son to the top of my building and saw the 2nd plane. I worked in every World Trade Center building, and it was devastating. Also, my sister's bestie, Tara Hobbs, left us...she was in the 1st Tower. RIP Tara❤❤
Of course I remembered that awful day. Never forget! Was at 7-11 buy lottery ticket for the office folks. The sky was clear, extremely clear.
A I was at work at a country club in Fl. No tv but remembered being around a radio and heard a man on his cell phone who was on his cell phone on the 27th floor. It was and is a tragic senseless loss of life that no one will forget. That night I went to church and held hands with a stranger and just prayed.
Yes, I just finished delivering a load in Houston Texas.
A Yes I was at work. My boss called me into her office in tears as she had what was happening on a TV screen. We sat there watching when the second plane took out the second tower. It was soooo sooo sad.
Yes, I was on the turnpike heading south to Miami.
Yes - at Ft Chaffee, AR. right after a 5 mile run.
So awful.
Hi Wendy! Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like you and your family were at about the exact same "stage of life" as our family was at that time.
Super interesting and informative. Keep up the good work
Hi Brenda! Thanks for your husband's service. And, yours as well. Military is definitely a family matter. Appreciate you!
Yes, I was programming an Highway message board for traffic control at the PGA golf tournament.
A. I was driving in my work van, glued to the radio.
Yes! I was in Germany, saw the second plane hit the second tower in my operations office.
Yes, I am parked for the Memphis/Shelby County Emergency Management Agency.
A, I was a Paramedic on duty in Fort Myers Florida. I was dropping a patient off at the ER when I saw the second plane crash into the towers on the TV.
Thank you for all the work you are doing for us ☺
As a former pilot for AAL I had landed in ORD from LHR the evening before from a 6-day trip.
Oh wow. As an AAL's pilot I am sure that day had a whole new dynamic for processing what had happened. Rough, rough day. Appreciate you!
@@TheTravelScouts And I appreciate both of you for your service to Our Great Country!
I was a Canadian Armed Forces peacekeeper operating in Bosnia on 9/11. I was actually sleeping due to the time-zone difference, but saw all the horrow as soon as I entered the Task Force HQ and saw colleagues gathered to watch the news.
Appreciate you and your service!
Yes, I was at the hospital having some tests. The waiting room tv was broadcasting the horrible events of that day. 💔
