The original story from d1 was that Humanity was just about ready to leave Sol and expand to other systems but the Witness came and stopped that. With the witness gone this codename Frontiers has to mean we're going to leave the solar system, right?
This is 100% a d3 tease. D2 will end with Frontiers, opening the way for d3, a clean slate in a whole new solar system. Get excited boys. For anyone saying d3 won't happen, bungie is not about to give us an entirely new solar system in d2, that's not even in the realm of happening, a new solar system would need 4 planets minimum to feel that excitement of something new. D3 is coming.

This is true for Destiny's story today. Golden Age humanity were preparing for large scale colonies outside of Sol just before the Collapse, the ship that birthed Neomuna being a notable example of one of them. And they were already capable of travelling to other galaxies and systems well before this too, there are examples of people who tried to escape to Ross 128b when the Collapse hit. A planet from a different star system that already had people living there. Although, it appears that they didn't really have large colonies or settlements at the time, it was all very small scale despite having the technological capability. Late Golden Age ships were pretty much all capable of making the journey and we're capable of it for a while, even smaller ships were.
Hopefully Frontiers means we're going outside of Sol, Bungie has mentioned the Andromeda galaxy in different item sets and we've got a couple alien homeworlds to head out to

@@raekwonchambers2297 there is no way we get a new subclass in an episode. They will save it for an expansion or a new game to monetize it with a bigger release. Additionally, we literally already have void and Devour. There’s no need for any sort of leeching health subclass.

At this point it’s essentially D3, even if they don’t actually make a D3. Now that the Witness is gone there’s still questions and things out there. Like the 9 or where Efrideet went to. Who/What is the Winower? What about Xivu? Though the Wintess is the most power we’ve ever been up against, it was still a pawn of the darkness.
The Winnower was The Witness. That whole lore card about the Gardener and the Winnower, the first knife, it was told to us by the Witness. Another story to try and pull us to their side.

Yeah, as cool as some of this stuff looks... we've already done some of it before. Sure, it may have not been super engaging or done well, but it can't be advertised as a new premise.
Only reason I’d be okay with a D3 is if they create it with a bigger scope in mind for more content (like campaigns) to stay in the game + implement more unique systems without sunsetting them like sparrow racing, ship combat, clan bases, trading etc. I feel like this lack of foresight when developing D2 is what prevents us from getting those kinds of systems.
Same thing that happened with Forsaken. Players got sick and tired of the same old crap from the terrible base game, to the scammy first DLCs which was a carbon copy of the trash before hand. It literally went: D1 = Trash, DLC 1+2 = Trash. Taken King = Really good. DLC 4 = Trash. D2 = Trash, DLC 1+2 = Trash. Forsaken = Really good. DLC 4 = D1 copy trash, DLC 5 = Trash, Witch Queen = Really good. DLC 6 = Trash, The Final Shape = Good. Inbetween them having a bunch of meh seasons ofc. So we are due for more Trash DLCS and seasons because we've had another good DLC, they only seem to do them when we are sick and tired of them and seeing how they won back their good will (For whatever reason) they have no incentive to make them good again.

They don't have to keep adding more subclass, they can expand more on existing subclass to make them fresh. Tho they should definitely at least add one more dark subclass.

And right now we have 6 Subclasses (Arc, Void, Solar, Stasis, Strand and Prismatic) so we will have to get resonance as our 7th subclass since the main campaign of the final shape was heavily leaning on the use of resonance so i am thinking we will be getting Resonance subclass sometime in the future.
I love this lose-lose situation. Killing the Witness unearthed powerful enemies too scared to come out into the light in its presence, now they're all converging nearly at the same time with a fraction of its power against us. Eyes up Guardians, this isn't over yet.
Based off of this and the main image for echoes it seems there’s going to be some sort of humanoid character working alongside or controlling the vex which is very interesting.

At first when they said that things were getting exciting, I wasn't fully sold on it. Then after experiencing The Final Shape and the Pale Heart, I am 100% hyped! They have completely outdone what I thought they could ever do anymore! It truly feels like a completely different, yet ever so classic Bungie!
Echoes seems like it can really setup the Vex as the next "See you at summer slam" enemy faction because we still have no idea what truly controls or is creating the Vex.
I think the hint to Year 11 was mentioned earlier in the video when they were talking about the echoes. He said the explosion of this light and dark scattered these echoes across the "galaxy" not the solar system. So if we're chasing down these echoes, it might be a galaxy wide adventure
You know I never thought about that. Destroying a being with such high density of darkness energy would have repercussions. Like it just doesn't go away it has to all go somewhere.

The day Season of the Deep dropped, Alison Luhrs, was was a former creative world building lead for Magic: The Gathering, mentioned that was the first bit of work she’s been involved with and IMO the narrative has been amazing ever since. I’ve been playing Magic and keeping up with the story twice as long as I’ve been playing D2, and when I tell you I knew Alison was gonna bring the heat, I KNEW. Excited to see what the devs and crew have cooked up

rise of iron was a standalone story that in the grand scheme of things has not related to or tied into the main story and has resulted in nothing more than small easter eggs and references. rise of iron and siva were a one-and-done ordeal and that's all they needed to be

Sure “we destroyed the replication chamber, siva is gone,” but it’s been teased in d2 that there’s more siva within colony ships, as well as a variant used to build neomuna. If they bring back the old dreadnought I’d be so happy. Until recently I still used to logon to D1 just to run around there. The art, the strikes etc where all amazing. They would only need to change up the secret/hidden quest stuff, and I’d be satisfied if the rest was just a copy of D1.

Codename frontiers gave me chills. Was kinda worried final shape would be it, not much going on past this year until either a d3 drop or not. But that they're already planning content after these episodes makes me very excited, provided they can keep going with the quality that they've just shown us. Which could be a tall ask, considering the lows we've seen.
I think your initial reaction was correct. They're talking about "if you love the coil" so I suspect we're going to have the seasonal activity, but longer. This is not necessarily a bad thing, I'm just saying Bungie isn't abandoning the existing model.

If we can’t take gear with us at the very least I want my emblems, cosmetics, and anything purchased to come forward. To me my emblems hold more significance and tell the story of my journey more than my weapons. There’s so many emblems from D1 I wish I still could use primarily my kitty cat and scarab emblem from trials. The amount of consecutive matches I had to win after hitting flawless to get my cat emblem to drop was insanity I think it was like my 21st or 25th match after flawless without losing a match. That emblem was very rewarding to achieve and it sucked to have to leave it behind.
So Revenant's cutscenes seem to confirm that the Fallen knew about the Worm Gods, and from the idea of hunting "monsters", it would appear that--at least in some capacity--Eliksni back on Riis faced off against the Hive. I don't think Hive lore mentions the Fallen ever fighting the Worm Gods, but it would be an interesting idea if Xita had other children that weren't documented in the Book of Sorrow, and perhaps it's those children who are the "Eldritch" beings that are tying back to the Dreadnought. After all, we have to remember that the Dreadnought is but a SINGLE SECTION of Akka's body. And Yul is described as having a pair of dragon wings. So it's very much possible the more elderly and powerful worms take on more grotesque forms. Perhaps Xita was kept catatonic in her powering of the Upended, which is why she remains just a gigantic worm and not something more Lovecraftian.
Really hoping the changes to nessus persist after this year. Episodes could be a great way to revamp our existing locations to be on the same level as the pale heart

@Aztecross totally changed his tune about D3. He saw more than just the final shape during the showcase when he got to play. The way he said they show us 3-4 years ahead before mentioning the old expansions, he really meant they showed him a big hunk of where the game is going. Before all this he was like, "they gotta do a d3 to solve all these problems". Homie knows way more than he's letting on is all I'm saying
I took a break for the last two seasons and was planning on finishing the Final Shape and being done. I just bought the annual pass lol After how good the Final Shape was and whats coming, I haven't been this excited for Destiny in a while.
I want D3 but I'd want it to be quite different. For starters (and it looks like it's going this way with prismatic), I'd kinda want to see them do away with the class and subclass system and move to a universal one. Would also like to see a few gameplay and engine changes, FS made strides towards having allies with you that actually feel somewhat like allies rather than turrets, but I'd like to see them work with that idea more. And maybe to even see them do away with the current social spaces destinations system. Dunno what they'd replace it with, but I'd be interested in trying some fresh changes
I have a weird feeling that all this story building for Destiny3 will allow us to explore abilities outside the traveler light/dark powers. More of building a character abilities around Cabal artillery, Hive magic, Fallen machinery

I swear if we head to different galaxies in the dreadnought I'm going to be so happy. Also I hope we get those interactions with the few survivors of Oryx seeing the dreadnought again only for us guardians to step out of it.
Im waiting until te episode is out for a bit to pick it up. It just looks like a standard 3 person defense mode. The poition system sounds like the standard vendor upgrade. Nothing really screams new to me, especially the season pass barely having anything substatially more than before. I hope im wrong, but its not confidence inspiring.
Echoes might just provide a little more intel on the true nature of the Traveler and it's relantionship with the Vex; Revenant might actualy be a monster hunter crossover, with season of the hunt elements, like the cryptoloths; Echoes might be guardians trying to take over the Dreadnought, atacking various areas to gain control over them ( Helldivers 2 style ). It's realy gonna be interesting to see. That hand in the Echoes vid, could it be Ashen Mir's hand, finaly succuming to the vex reprograming and becoming their new leader?
I want Destiny 2 to have an all out war pvp/pve mode. Were we pick a side and do the push and pull. With various rewards to fight for to show off our achievements.
Interesting. I do like that they’re embracing the mystery that made the mythos of this universe so great to begin with. Taking established ideas and expanding upon them now that the echoes of the traveler are starting to reshape everything into something new…I kinda dig it.
I’m most hyped for revenant. Slaying vampires and more house of light stuff? Which means more screen time with my favorite character Mithrax? And it has dark fantasy vibes? Hell yeah
I really hope that the dreadnaught is a patrol zone as well, like in D1. It is my favorite patrol zone in all of Destiny. Hopefully, it's not just one narrow activity. I really really wanna just run around and explore the previous locations i used to go to back in d1 and hopefully new locations.

This content all looks fantastic, they've smashed it out of the park with final shape and it looks to continue gameplay/experience wise with the episodes. .........but I don't understand how narratively they are going to make any of this relevant. We just damaged the witness.....the guy the traveller ran from, the guy the traveller couldn't even wound. How are any of these enemies going to even compare. I can't see how from a lore/narrative perspective how this won't fall absolutely flat
I'm not much of a tech guy but what if frontiers is not only us exploring areas outside of sol, but is also a overhaul to technical aspects of the game to make it more sustainable. What if we don't really need d3 to achieve that goal? Just a thought, a game thought.
One of the Pale Heart weapons has a decal of Lakshmi on it, and the lore tab mentions her final moments thinking of what the Vex would do to her, and if there was any hope they might just ignore her if she played dead amongst the wreckage
I have no expectations, but it would be nice if the episodic content wasnt a complete "you had to be there" moment like seasons were. Again, i dont expect ANYTHING to stay behind just like seasons, but it would be nice if you could buy lets say echoes even after whatever Frontiers releases. Would make for a much more accessible story for new and returning players. Anyway, I know this has nothing to do with the video but i just tested bastion and its a 25% melee damage buff and a 30% weapon damage buff. Works pretty well with arc hunter with liars handshake for example. Pretty sure it plays well with titan synthos and wormgod too.
If we end up getting a throne world it'll be what we wanted clan spaces to be. Fully customizable, personal or "family" spaces that we can tune to what we want. I'm convinced

Yeah, as cool as some of this stuff looks... we've already done some of it before. Sure, it may have not been super engaging or done well, but it can't be advertised as a new premise.
Only reason I’d be okay with a D3 is if they create it with a bigger scope in mind for more content (like campaigns) to stay in the game + implement more unique systems without sunsetting them like sparrow racing, ship combat, clan bases, trading etc.
I feel like this lack of foresight when developing D2 is what prevents us from getting those kinds of systems.

Same thing that happened with Forsaken. Players got sick and tired of the same old crap from the terrible base game, to the scammy first DLCs which was a carbon copy of the trash before hand. It literally went:
D1 = Trash, DLC 1+2 = Trash. Taken King = Really good. DLC 4 = Trash.
D2 = Trash, DLC 1+2 = Trash. Forsaken = Really good. DLC 4 = D1 copy trash, DLC 5 = Trash, Witch Queen = Really good. DLC 6 = Trash, The Final Shape = Good. Inbetween them having a bunch of meh seasons ofc. So we are due for more Trash DLCS and seasons because we've had another good DLC, they only seem to do them when we are sick and tired of them and seeing how they won back their good will (For whatever reason) they have no incentive to make them good again.

@@zeeboss7553 The Devs have already stated ages ago saying Siva won't be coming back, but resonance is still on the table because as i told a lot of my friends that bungie likes the number 7 right? And right now we have 6 Subclasses (Arc, Void, Solar, Stasis, Strand and Prismatic) so we will have to get resonance as our 7th subclass since the main campaign of the final shape was heavily leaning on the use of resonance so i am thinking we will be getting Resonance subclass sometime in the future.
I love this lose-lose situation. Killing the Witness unearthed powerful enemies too scared to come out into the light in its presence, now they're all converging nearly at the same time with a fraction of its power against us. Eyes up Guardians, this isn't over yet.
Based off of this and the main image for echoes it seems there’s going to be some sort of humanoid character working alongside or controlling the vex which is very interesting.

At first when they said that things were getting exciting, I wasn't fully sold on it. Then after experiencing The Final Shape and the Pale Heart, I am 100% hyped! They have completely outdone what I thought they could ever do anymore! It truly feels like a completely different, yet ever so classic Bungie!
Echoes seems like it can really setup the Vex as the next "See you at summer slam" enemy faction because we still have no idea what truly controls or is creating the Vex.
I think the hint to Year 11 was mentioned earlier in the video when they were talking about the echoes. He said the explosion of this light and dark scattered these echoes across the "galaxy" not the solar system. So if we're chasing down these echoes, it might be a galaxy wide adventure

The day Season of the Deep dropped, Alison Luhrs, was was a former creative world building lead for Magic: The Gathering, mentioned that was the first bit of work she’s been involved with and IMO the narrative has been amazing ever since. I’ve been playing Magic and keeping up with the story twice as long as I’ve been playing D2, and when I tell you I knew Alison was gonna bring the heat, I KNEW. Excited to see what the devs and crew have cooked up

rise of iron was a standalone story that in the grand scheme of things has not related to or tied into the main story and has resulted in nothing more than small easter eggs and references. rise of iron and siva were a one-and-done ordeal and that's all they needed to be

Until recently I still used to logon to D1 just to run around there.
The art, the strikes etc where all amazing.
They would only need to change up the secret/hidden quest stuff, and I’d be satisfied if the rest was just a copy of D1.

Codename frontiers gave me chills. Was kinda worried final shape would be it, not much going on past this year until either a d3 drop or not. But that they're already planning content after these episodes makes me very excited, provided they can keep going with the quality that they've just shown us. Which could be a tall ask, considering the lows we've seen.

If we can’t take gear with us at the very least I want my emblems, cosmetics, and anything purchased to come forward. To me my emblems hold more significance and tell the story of my journey more than my weapons. There’s so many emblems from D1 I wish I still could use primarily my kitty cat and scarab emblem from trials. The amount of consecutive matches I had to win after hitting flawless to get my cat emblem to drop was insanity I think it was like my 21st or 25th match after flawless without losing a match. That emblem was very rewarding to achieve and it sucked to have to leave it behind.
This year has to continue being a banger, for our trust in bungie, and for Destiny to survive in the meantime. The seasons/Episodes HAVE to pop off.

So Revenant's cutscenes seem to confirm that the Fallen knew about the Worm Gods, and from the idea of hunting "monsters", it would appear that--at least in some capacity--Eliksni back on Riis faced off against the Hive. I don't think Hive lore mentions the Fallen ever fighting the Worm Gods, but it would be an interesting idea if Xita had other children that weren't documented in the Book of Sorrow, and perhaps it's those children who are the "Eldritch" beings that are tying back to the Dreadnought. After all, we have to remember that the Dreadnought is but a SINGLE SECTION of Akka's body. And Yul is described as having a pair of dragon wings. So it's very much possible the more elderly and powerful worms take on more grotesque forms. Perhaps Xita was kept catatonic in her powering of the Upended, which is why she remains just a gigantic worm and not something more Lovecraftian.
Really hoping the changes to nessus persist after this year. Episodes could be a great way to revamp our existing locations to be on the same level as the pale heart

@Aztecross totally changed his tune about D3. He saw more than just the final shape during the showcase when he got to play. The way he said they show us 3-4 years ahead before mentioning the old expansions, he really meant they showed him a big hunk of where the game is going.

I took a break for the last two seasons and was planning on finishing the Final Shape and being done. I just bought the annual pass lol After how good the Final Shape was and whats coming, I haven't been this excited for Destiny in a while.
I want D3 but I'd want it to be quite different. For starters (and it looks like it's going this way with prismatic), I'd kinda want to see them do away with the class and subclass system and move to a universal one.
Would also like to see a few gameplay and engine changes, FS made strides towards having allies with you that actually feel somewhat like allies rather than turrets, but I'd like to see them work with that idea more. And maybe to even see them do away with the current social spaces destinations system. Dunno what they'd replace it with, but I'd be interested in trying some fresh changes

I have a weird feeling that all this story building for Destiny3 will allow us to explore abilities outside the traveler light/dark powers. More of building a character abilities around Cabal artillery, Hive magic, Fallen machinery

I swear if we head to different galaxies in the dreadnought I'm going to be so happy. Also I hope we get those interactions with the few survivors of Oryx seeing the dreadnought again only for us guardians to step out of it.

That weapon for the fallen episode looks like the guns they bad guys carried in Krull. The armor is reminiscent of their armor also
Echoes might just provide a little more intel on the true nature of the Traveler and it's relantionship with the Vex;
Revenant might actualy be a monster hunter crossover, with season of the hunt elements, like the cryptoloths;
Echoes might be guardians trying to take over the Dreadnought, atacking various areas to gain control over them ( Helldivers 2 style ).
It's realy gonna be interesting to see.

Interesting. I do like that they’re embracing the mystery that made the mythos of this universe so great to begin with. Taking established ideas and expanding upon them now that the echoes of the traveler are starting to reshape everything into something new…I kinda dig it.

I really hope that the dreadnaught is a patrol zone as well, like in D1. It is my favorite patrol zone in all of Destiny. Hopefully, it's not just one narrow activity. I really really wanna just run around and explore the previous locations i used to go to back in d1 and hopefully new locations.

This content all looks fantastic, they've smashed it out of the park with final shape and it looks to continue gameplay/experience wise with the episodes.
.........but I don't understand how narratively they are going to make any of this relevant. We just damaged the witness.....the guy the traveller ran from, the guy the traveller couldn't even wound. How are any of these enemies going to even compare. I can't see how from a lore/narrative perspective how this won't fall absolutely flat
I'm not much of a tech guy but what if frontiers is not only us exploring areas outside of sol, but is also a overhaul to technical aspects of the game to make it more sustainable. What if we don't really need d3 to achieve that goal? Just a thought, a game thought.

One of the Pale Heart weapons has a decal of Lakshmi on it, and the lore tab mentions her final moments thinking of what the Vex would do to her, and if there was any hope they might just ignore her if she played dead amongst the wreckage
I have no expectations, but it would be nice if the episodic content wasnt a complete "you had to be there" moment like seasons were.
Again, i dont expect ANYTHING to stay behind just like seasons, but it would be nice if you could buy lets say echoes even after whatever Frontiers releases.
Would make for a much more accessible story for new and returning players.
Anyway, I know this has nothing to do with the video but i just tested bastion and its a 25% melee damage buff and a 30% weapon damage buff.
Works pretty well with arc hunter with liars handshake for example. Pretty sure it plays well with titan synthos and wormgod too.
If we end up getting a throne world it'll be what we wanted clan spaces to be. Fully customizable, personal or "family" spaces that we can tune to what we want. I'm convinced

That last comment has been the same thing I've been thinking about. At this point, if a Destiny 3 means I have to give up my loot for a complete refresh, no, thank you. Just keep going with what you have and introduce a new threat. Yes, there will come a point where things get convoluted, but okay, fine.
I want to know who the Nine are!!! Would have loved to had call in the Star Horse during the Witness fight in order to delete him. Then we are on the hook for the Favor and have to work it of by going system hopping to pay it back ending with a fight with the Nine themselves.
