back when I was 14 and watching this show, of course I shipped "Delena" like everyone else. now I'm just like GIIRRRRL where's your self respect 😭 he abused your friend, killed your best friends mom, killed your boyfriends best friend, he killed your brother!! how can this show make a relationship between them romantic and not psychotic 😭😂
Honestly…if i was Jeremy and my sister started dating the guy that abused a girl i was in love with(vickie), abused a girl i had known since i was a child(caroline), abused and continuously threatened and even tried to kill a girl that I knew since childhood who i then dated(bonnie), continuously showed he had a violent streak by killing my guardian more than once and then killed me because my sister wouldn’t kiss him. I WOULD BE SO FUCKING PISSED AND FEEL SO BETRAYED. And this is only what happened IN THE PAST TWO SEASONS! This isn’t even all the fuck shit hes going to do after. Idk why Rose would root for him at all. Or anyone. Like he literally calls jeremy a child! Elena is only a year older than him. I will never like Damon. And no one can convince me otherwise.

When I first watched the show with my friend a few years back, that was my first reaction: "dude, you're a vampire, fucking grab them both!" I 'understand' the functionality of it, ie setting up season 4 stuff as you said, but that actually makes me hate it more. Like you, I am Stelena allllll the wayyyyyy. I also have the same question about the first time Elena got saved. You're a vampire dude. Save them all.
also when i was younger i kinda liked delena (during seasons 1-3). damon was mysterious, dangerous, a bad boy. overprotective and firm but only because he loves her so much oh-em-gee. ian is just way too charismatic, he makes damon way too cool. the writers totally ruined this ship in later seasons regardless but kow, rewatching your recaps when my frontal lobe has fully developed, i realized how toxic damon actually was to elena. he's like a perfect booktok badboy, before booktok was even a thing. it just shows that times change but tropes and archetypes dont. love for overbearing badboys is eternal i guess
