New Zealand has some of the best natural scenery! What was your favourite spot in NZ to go fishing?

As a scuba diver who has occasionally scallop dived there's no excise not to measure on the bottom, you can easily measure the required distance on your glove or hand, a permanent sharpie mark will last out a dive & 15cm stainless steel rules are so cheap to buy that they're easy to always have as part of your diving kit.
The boat that had already shucked so many scallops would only have done that knowing they were under sized; they were lucky to only get the fine they did

Thanks for sharing your experience and tips! It would be a real shame if they shucked the scallops knowing they were under sized 😢 It's important for divers to measure responsibly and follow regulations to protect marine life.

People who violate the laws make me sick. They know exactly what they are doing. I can't believe the divers only got a warning. The officers should do their jobs. People acting like they don't know the rules are sickening and not taking that boat at the end is disgusting and just encourages people to break the law.

You guys are too soft on all fishers.
Our Courts are a joke, its high time these hunters were treated like the catches they pouch.
For too long now rules have been made to be broken by all commers.
I rember when our coast was full of all kinds of shellfish even the pools had kai in them.
Today one would need to be really lucky to pretty much catch anything of legal size close to cities let alone the hidden isolated places.

Really seems contradictory to the goal to use single use plastic bags to clean up plastic waste...
