@@clintsaines9274 As an 80's kid, the toys were better than the 90's, but the 90's had the better cartoons. Batman the animated series solidified what a masterpiece a cartoon could be. And Animaniacs rejuvenated the wit and satire of Merry Melodies.
I remember a 5-episode arc in the original series about Lion-O's trial to become Lord of the Thundercats, where each of his teammates challenge him to earn their insignias, Game of Death style. Shows how he had to learn to respect, value, and learn from the skills of those working alongside him to take down Mumm-Ra at the end. A well done microcosm of the hero's journey and a lesson in leadership.
I met Panthro, the voice actor, he was the father of Bill Cosby on the Cosby show. Also, My friend went to a con and had the voice actor of LION-O call me, that was AWESOME!!!
Wow! To relive 1985- 1989 would be a joy to me because it was the best time of my childhood. Those toys and cartoons bring back such great memories how I was so determined to come home from school to watch the cartoons and to play with my toys.
As I watch your videos it makes me realise just how many toys my parents gifted me in those few short years. Obviously nothing compared to the Toy MuseumTM that you have, but now this era is gone I just can't remember how there were enough occasions for them to buy me Lion-O, Panthro, the Thundertank, Slithe, the toy sword. They were very generous. I was very lucky. *Sniff* [Nostalgia tear]
The only Thundercats figure I ever had was the mutant, Monkian. My brother and I really only ever got sugar-free gum, but for whatever reason my mother let me get a pack of either Bubblicious or Hubba Bubba which happened to have an entry for a contest where the prizes were Thundercats toys. I ended up getting a package in the mail so long after I sent in my entry, that neither my mother nor I had any clue what it was. Even after I opened it up and found the Monkian figure inside, it still took me a while to remember the contest I had entered.
Remember the 2nd Cat's Lair on New Thundera? That was waaay cooler than the original. Also they had a new vehicle called Whiskers which was pretty cool. One episode even featured a new Tower of Omens!!
I had Lion-O, Panthro, Thundertank , the light-up ring to make the eyes glow and Hachiman!!! This video brings back fond memories for me, Michael!!! Thanks!!!!
I've been saying this for years and they have to get it right though as close as to the cartoon & action figures of the 80's. Otherwise it will flop like the new cartoon did and that would be the worst injustice in history 🐾🦁⚔️⚡⚡⚡
I wish I was able to share a picture of me from back in 86(?) I was about 5 years old then. My mom and babysitter took me to Sears to get my pictures taken and I was throwing a fit. So my mom made a deal with me that she would buy me the Thundercats playset. The one that had the mask, a sword of Omens. A shield and claw. Needless to say, it wasnt part of the plan. But those pictures taken at Sears back in the day had me modeling those toys!! Lol
Fun video. I also had the first wave of the original figures, but I remember the original Lion-O was only packaged with his weapons, and not Snarf. I think Snarf was added in a later release with Lion-O if memory serves me. Also, what's up with that clear ghost Jaga?!
Ngl I really admire this show for having a well written different abled main character while Heman could barely manage an iconically bad special episode, “Not So Blind”.
Great job, Mr.mercy , thundercats is in my top 3 cartoons of the 80s , I think what set the show apart was the awsome animation and the intro , I was hooked from the beginning , and tygra was also my favorite , I liked the look of the character design, for some reason he was first in my book
Thanks! After becoming a fan of Lord of the Rings later in life, I've come to appreciate Thundercats even more due to the similarities. Not surprising considering Rankin Bass did the Hobbit animated movie. I loved Tygra's theme too. It was a nice touch that each cat and even the Thundertank had their own themes. It was like entrance music! :D
I remember I was playing with my brother and my friend. We had installed a parachute made of plastic bag on Lion-o and then, we threw it out of the window of my 11 store building I used to live, to see if the parachute would work. Unfortunately, Lion-o didn’t survive. The parachute didn’t open and Lion-o felt to the ground like a meteor, smashing it completely. I kept the head of Lion-o for some years though... This happened 25 years ago. The sword is still on my wardrobe. I had the grayskull castle instead of the cats’ lair
Hah! 3 minutes and you're own Thundercat definitely got a laugh. You edit so entertainingly well. I'm hoping to use your vids to introduce my 5 year-old to some of my old friends. Your combining of footage always engages and expands upon the info your presenting at the time and the humor is great. Thanks for sharing the love and your knowledge. You'll be one of the coolest guys with a collection that we know, in our house.
Never considered it but; cheetaro from beast wars/machines was meant to be a loving homage to Tigro whose figure “ages” between the versions released. It was fan cannon; those fans took that mindset into articulating their own art. That’s cool.
Hopefully we get to see a video on the bad guys too. Back in the day, the only figure I owned was Lion-O v2 and that was it, but the ThunderCats cartoon was (and still is) among my faves from the 80s.
Ok another great segment Michael!😁👍 Love the bear looking figures! May have to pick those up in the future. Besides Ewoks they also in way remind of daggit from BSG
Why could they not give the light up eyes feature to all the Thundercats? Tygra is my favourite too, the noblest of all the Thundercats, and his theme music is excellent.
Cost issues probably. It was also weird how small Cheetara was and how big Lion-O was and all the accessories and light-up feature he came with, yet they were both the same price. Most toy lines would give you the same amount of plastic and gimmicks for the same price.
Yes, Cheetara was tiny. The line wasn't really to scale. Speaking of scale have you seen - or indeed do you own any of - the Mezco mega scale Thundercats? They look great, so cartoon accurate. I seem to remember there was a HUGE gap between the releases of the other guys and Tygra. The wait was agonising. Then, when my sister presented him to me for a birthday, well... I was quite pleased :)
I still remember when the Thundercats and Dungeons & Dragons cartoons were taken off the air in New Zealand for being too "violent" when I was a kid. Never got to see the entire series...
I also remember years later Power Rangers being taken off air after a kid hit his friend with a stick playing Power Rangers in the yard; so it was therefore deemed too violent for the whole country smh
We were early adopters as none of our characters came with the extra little characters. Almost made me want to re-buy Cheetara and Lion-o just to get the little ones
I had to subscribe when I saw you beat up your other figures with Sgt Slaughter. I was hooked. I love your videos wow so they ever take me back. Thanks for your content!!
I never got into Thundercats as a kid that much.. I had a few Comic Books and figures but not many. I did use to watch the show though. I was into GI Joe and Heman, Wrestlers and Army Ants more.
I remember me wanted that freaking thundertank like a mad man but never get it,now its sure costs a fortune i believe.I also know that they released a mumm-ra sarcophagus playset that was glow in the dark!
Thanks! I've seen some for pretty cheap on Ebay. The eye even lights up. They're made in Pakistan and not official but it's not like the rights holders are offering an alternative. :D
I'm happy I found these videos, I'm a child of the 80's..,toys,movies, music...a better time!!!!!;)...people now a days get "offended" to easily! ...:(
Another great review Michael. My younger brother had Liono and Panthro and I know that I incorporated Panthro into many a play time. I know you're going to focus on the villains next time and that's brilliant because I always thought that Thundercats had one of the strongest bad guy line up of any series. I was wondering if you had any experience with the show Starfleet as that was one of my favourite shows and I would love to see your take on it. It also has the best theme of all time too!!
Thanks! Not familiar with Starfleet so I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm learning about all kinds of cool 80's shows and toy lines I wasn't aware of back in the day. :D

Hi my Toy Brother! Great vids. Did you see the 1988 XMEN pilot cartoon, one of the best Ive ever seen, by the SpiderMan and his Amazing Friends animators. Also, GalaxyRangers toys all came out in UK and even a TRANSFORMING Inspector Gadget Diecast Bandai Car I got from Japan, see my Toy Time videos... I came back from my summer trip when I was a kid in the late 80s and found my entire Mego, HeMan and Castle Eterneria with 3 towers, SilverHawks and Mask collection stolen. But Im ok. Now I create comics :-)

We truly grew up in the golden age for kids shows and toys.
Nothing like it👍🏻
Yep.
There will never be a better cartoon and toy era better than the 80's! Period!
I agree 100%
They started making it what it is but the 1990s where good too.
Don’t forget music!

The Thundercats intro theme is the G.O.A.T. of all cartoon intro themes! 👏😀❤🇺🇸💯✔

fiddlestyxify , those were my favorite episodes!!
I always wondered why the Sword of Omens and the Claw sheath was red?🤔
Still to this day the best theme song ever! so damn legendary, still gets me hyped as can be when i hear it
I met Panthro, the voice actor, he was the father of Bill Cosby on the Cosby show. Also, My friend went to a con and had the voice actor of LION-O call me, that was AWESOME!!!
Very cool! :D
How did you meet Earl Hyman?

This brings back some happy memories. I had quite the Thundercat toy collection as a kid.
i love that the call sign to call the other Cats was a giant laser pointer
Yay for 80's cartoons and toys......I grew up on this show also. What an simple and awesome time!
This cartoon/line was so awesome and combined well with Masters of the Universe with the fantasy/sci-fi theme.
Wait! Snarf's real name is Osbert? Wow, I just learned something new
That's Uncle Osbert. Lol 😆
I always dreamt of having the Thunder Tank, but like you, money was right. Looking at it over 30 years later it is still an impressive toy.
Still one of my favorite shows and toys. Great video.
I had Lion-O, Panthro, Thundertank , the light-up ring to make the eyes glow and Hachiman!!! This video brings back fond memories for me, Michael!!! Thanks!!!!
I've always wondered why they haven't done a full motion picture on the Thundercats. Especially now . Hopefully soon they will come to their senses.
I've been saying this for years and they have to get it right though as close as to the cartoon & action figures of the 80's. Otherwise it will flop like the new cartoon did and that would be the worst injustice in history 🐾🦁⚔️⚡⚡⚡
My brother rented one of the VHS and i hid it. I was 5y/o. Now Im 32 and still watch Thundercats. I have so much love for this show! Hoooooo!
Brought back so much memories thank you

Haha, sounds like awesome pictures! HO! :D
That was brilliant Micheal, thanks for that.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. :D
My life feels so incomplete without a Hyper-Space Mega-Condenser :'(
I have an extra one. I'll trade you for a samoflange.
Life's always incomplete without one of those Mega Dingus!
I was never a Thundercats fan but knew friends who were who all pretty much raved about it.
Im so happy I had the chance, No the honor of getting to watch part of the Thundercats series in the 90's
Fun video. I also had the first wave of the original figures, but I remember the original Lion-O was only packaged with his weapons, and not Snarf. I think Snarf was added in a later release with Lion-O if memory serves me. Also, what's up with that clear ghost Jaga?!
Excellent video Major Mercy! The production and quality has a labor of love that’s apparent! I will be supporting your Patreon!
Thanks! Much appreciated! 🙏
Wow, I forgot about most of these toys until they were mentioned, and I had most of them.
I remember having the Lair and how COOL IT WAS!
Ngl I really admire this show for having a well written different abled main character while Heman could barely manage an iconically bad special episode, “Not So Blind”.
80s/90s cartoon and toys for life!
Thanks for this awesome nostalgia trip :)
This was very well done. Thanks for quite the watch.
The dramatic music was such a great addition to this show
Out of all these 80's heroes, i think technically Lion-O is the youngest (being 12-13) and Optimus Prime the oldest (1000+).
Good point! His body aged but he still woke up being about the age of Wily Kit and Kat.
Great job, Mr.mercy , thundercats is in my top 3 cartoons of the 80s , I think what set the show apart was the awsome animation and the intro , I was hooked from the beginning , and tygra was also my favorite , I liked the look of the character design, for some reason he was first in my book

So this is where the name Ultimate Warrior originated! And to think Vince and Warrior fought it out in court!
It’s amazing that I never had any Thundercats toys, but I did have Silver Hawks pajamas.
Dreams of silver, snores of steel! :D
I remember I was playing with my brother and my friend. Man the new thundercats was really good idk why they stopped making episodes to it
This is cool.i had all these as a kid in the early 80s.pure nostalgia on that big wheel.i had the Thundercats and Transformers big wheel.
Very cool ThunderCats toy video, they look so cool to play with and very nice design.

Whoa, I want them! Haha, 38 years old and still thinking the Thundercats are boss.
Once again, another fantastic video! Thanks Michael!
Thanks! :D
My fav was vultureman. I had all of the mutants. I remember getting the mumrah mummy version in the mail.
Loved the anointment trials and Ghost Warrior. Currently working on a Thunder Cats OC cosplay.
My dad gave me his old thundercat toys from the 80s, I have the old Tygra, Panthro and the winged lion o
Never considered it but; cheetaro from beast wars/machines was meant to be a loving homage to Tigro whose figure “ages” between the versions released. It was fan cannon; those fans took that mindset into articulating their own art. That’s cool.
Great Episode....The Thundercats were a huge part of my childhood
Thanks! Same here. Great lessons in the show and the toys were lots of fun.

The 80s were magic time flys now 35 I’m in full retro classic mode can’t get Enuff 😊👍👍
Awesome video Mr Mercy. Thank you from New Zealand. 10/10 Nerdmaste!
Thanks Robin! Nerdmasté! 🙏

The music before the outro used to be the bomb
I still remember when the Thundercats and Dungeons & Dragons cartoons were taken off the air in New Zealand for being too "violent" when I was a kid. Never got to see the entire series...
It's too bad the people who made this decision didn't actually watch the show. They would have seen the whole message was an anti-violent one.
I also remember years later Power Rangers being taken off air after a
kid hit his friend with a stick playing Power Rangers in the yard; so it
was therefore deemed too violent for the whole country smh
i never saw the cartoon from the 80s but i watched the 2011 cartoon and i liked it. i wish it didn't get taken off cartoon network.
I had the Lion-o and i loved It,but i've always wanted Panthro
I had the mini Cats Lair which were for the smaller TC figures.
I had a smaller version of the castle made for smaller figures around 2-3 inches
I had mumra when i was in a foster home but at my moms i had liono but always wanted panthro from the original line
Great video and look back to some of the toys on shelves in my childhood! Thanks bro
Thanks, glad you liked it! 🙏
We were early adopters as none of our characters came with the extra little characters. Almost made me want to re-buy Cheetara and Lion-o just to get the little ones
I remember having the thundertank, I also had, lion o, Mumm ra, unfortunately I didn't have any of the mutants
I had to subscribe when I saw you beat up your other figures with Sgt Slaughter. I was hooked. I love your videos wow so they ever take me back. Thanks for your content!!
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I never got into Thundercats as a kid that much.. I had a few Comic Books and figures but not many. I did use to watch the show though. I was into GI Joe and Heman, Wrestlers and Army Ants more.
I still wonder what could have been if ljn has just made this line in scale with motu. But until then, THUNDERCATS, HOOOOO!!!!!!!
Your figures are in such good condition, they look totally different than mine.
I remember me wanted that freaking thundertank like a mad man but never get it,now its sure costs a fortune i believe.I also know that they released a mumm-ra sarcophagus playset that was glow in the dark!
Real talk...Cheetara was my first cartoon crush. 😙❤💯✔
HA HA I loved the Lunatacks especially Chilla.
Awesome! How about that clear Jaga figure though? I think you said it was a custom in a previous video...?
Cool video! I love the Thundercats!!
Thanks! :D
These toys were hard to find and expensive.
Snarf is the equivalence of Orko from He- Man 🤣
I need still need Jaga and Cheetara. Great vid
Thanks! Good luck in your hunt! :D
That Mad Bubbler . . .
kick ass video...cheers :)
Thanks! Nerdmasté! 🙏
I love all your videos. Thanks
Thanks! Nerdmasté! 🙏
RIP EARL HYMAN Panthr-o, AKA Russell Huxtable
Great review! A 1:1 sword of omens replica is still on my "want" list :)
Thanks! I've seen some for pretty cheap on Ebay. The eye even lights up. They're made in Pakistan and not official but it's not like the rights holders are offering an alternative. :D
Great job 👍🏻
Good video. I had to get used to the original actor voices. I grew up watching the series dubbed in Spanish. It was a weird feeling.
GOOD DOCUMENTARY
THANKS A LOT
They were my favorite
Yee, sight beyond sight...💪🏼👁 Ho❗❗❗
Sweet video, next to transformers Thundercats are my next favorite toy line, when will you do a Thundercats commentary episode?
Thanks! Very soon I think. :D
Red Eye(one of my favorites) would have been an awesome figure! All of the Lunatacs would have’
I love 80's toys.
At the end of the video, Black Dragon from the Rambo animated series is in the back among the Mumm-Ra figures.
Yeah they never made Mumm-Ra's ninja, but the Rambo Black Dragon looks a lot like him and is the same scale. I think it's a perfect fit! :D
Ho ho ho ho ho hoho I loved the 80’s and Thundercats
Interesting...even though they didn't say I am now thinking Tygra and Cheetara were husband and wife and Wileykat and Wileykit were their kids.
That’s an interesting theory. 👍
Michael Mercy Please watch it as I know you will love it. It's on UA-cam so you can get access straight away and when you see Dai-X, you will see that it's one of the best robots of the 80s. Please stick with it as it gets better and better.
Nice! :D
Love the work going on here. I noticed some translucent jaga figures. What's the story with them? Prehaps a short review? Keep up the great reviews
Wasn’t there like some kind of a racing set with the thundertank and I think it had like a cave you went through I seem to recall getting it not sure when of course lol racing sets were always fun
Nice collection
Great video. You earned a new subscriber.
