We’re actually pretty similar :-).. however our day seems to start a lot earlier. I guess that is to do with the weather. All of our churches look like that and there are so many venues with beautiful architecture. I love how cute her reaction was 😄

The main thing is the timing! UK weddings tend to be all day, so lunchtime ceremonies (for example mine will be at 1pm), but other than that it's pretty much the same. Our venues are quite different.

I loved hearing the soprano rehearse in that beautiful church! I am a mezzo-soprano and have sung for so many weddings and funerals (the Ave Maria is a very popular choice)...I’m not even engaged yet but I love watching these videos. One thing my boyfriend and I have agreed is that our best friend is going to play organ so hopefully we can find a church/venue that allows that.

Thanks for a fun video Jamie, love your excitement at a typical UK style wedding. Not all our venues are quite as fancy as this manor (you did pick a stunning wedding location to attend 😚) but this timeline is pretty normal for the UK, 10 hours plus ... and you'll still hear UK brides say (with a tint of sadness) how their wedding day went by too fast lol - I certainly did 🥰

It's common to have "evening guests" here, too....that's the people who you don't know too well so you don't wanna pay to feed them, but they're good dancers so you invite them to fill up the dance floor. Love this vlog! I'm originally from the UK, but I moved to New Zealand when I was almost 3. My cousin had his wedding in the cutest chapel in Derbyshire, and they had the reception at his wife's parents farm in a marquee in one of the fields! Slightly different vibe to a manor reception, but it was still so much fun, and if I remember correctly, they did the same thing with the DJ coming in later and had a string quartet playing during cocktail hour/the beginning of the reception. I sang at their ceremony, so I remember their wedding so fondly. We're planning on going over to the UK for a very chilled out reception-like party for all my UK family over there, and I think it's going to be very different from anything that they normally have over there because my fiance is VERY kiwi. It should be interesting haha
Please do a comparisons video! As someone who grew up in a country different from the one they were born in, I'm always interested in cultural differences, but especially when it comes to weddings! I find it all so interesting.
In New Zealand everyone invites everyone to the ceremony, because it's cheaper, and invites only their nearest and dearest to the reception - which I feel like in the UK it's the other way round. So I find it all very interesting.
Love what you do so much! All of your videos are so full of positive, fun-loving vibes. Keep doing what you're doing! And sorry for the long comment 😂

I love this so much! Although I’m US born and raised, I’m planning to plan my wedding as English as possible because...well Jane Austen and Downton Abbey...I just attended a wedding in Iceland and the reception was similar in laid back but so much more special than most US weddings I’ve attended. Do you think it’s possible to have a reception like this in the US or would people feel antsy?

Hey, do you have any videos on rehearsal dinners and how to do them at home or somewhere other then the venue on a budget?

My question is where are the ppl when they do the flip? Do they have a second cocktail hour? Crazy long wedding. What was it 12 hours long?..... LOL

Lol yeah most UK weddings start with ceremony around 12noon or 1pm and the day finishes at midnight. When Jamie mentioned the guests were "milling around" and chilled, that's when the venue does the flip. It's a nice time for folk to relax, wander or sit and chat, and Bride n Groom can do extra photos or just go off and be together for half an hour... before the party part really starts 🤗 Wishing you a wonderful day for your own upcoming wedding 🥰

There are often spaces with a bar at venues that allow for spill out, guests normally head into that space when the changeover happens

Do you not have churches in America? There’s at least one church like that in almost every village over here x

I'm going to get married with an Englishman in Mexico, I want to know about traditional stuff on weddings there, I mean I see that part of people saying speeches and jokes that's a bit uncommon here. Is that an important tradition in England?... I'm building up ideas of mexican / english things that we could do in the wedding. I'm excited but this is overwhelming at times

you think the Brits do it slow paced... I'm in the middle of planning my "french" wedding next year (marrying a french man) and finding out the timings are ridiculous!

My Dad is always saying only the 1% has those Pinterest weddings. Do you think thats accurate or do you think people in all social classes have weddings like that?

I don't necessarily think the vendors were joking when they said "it's just another opportunity for people to drink" hehe... I'd say that's pretty "proper" English ;)
