- Walking down the beach on Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef and witnessed this epic scene. This shark was looking for a meal and this Southern sting ray was on the menu. Please subscribe to my channel and follow me on my adventures!

@Jj i hope it did. While still on the Beach, i saw it throwing it's tail into the water and thought it was sonar sounding to know what it's next line of defense would be.

The stingray is safe. Sometimes stingrays are caught by the shore and that’s when a shark tries to attack. He was already at retreat and asking as he can gain 2 ft of water around him.
The sting ray can still attack the enemy.
The shark tried to drove it to the shore so it had less space.

No. It would have died if it had not gone back into the water. Animals cannot will themselves new physical attributes. The only remotely "rational" case for evolution is the idea of favourable slight mutations building up over countless millennia, until changes are noticeable.

They would kill stingrays that they would find within the boundaries of our swimming area at the beach in Florida. When I was 10, I went swimming one day and saw a couple of dead ones in 4 feet of water. I thought they were alive and went back to the lifeguard to tell him there are stingrays out there. He laughed and told me they went out and killed them first thing in the morning. I didn’t go back in. lol

Sharks and Rays are both in the class Chondrichthyes: Cartilaginous fish. You might say, for the sake of simplicity: that Rays are kind of just a "flattened out shark". I love Aquatic Science, the whole environments' biology and roster of organisms is, in my opinion, endlessly fascinating.

It’s DEFINITELY a Lemon shark (Negaprion). It’s the only shark found in those waters with a second dorsal (rear) fin that’s almost as big as the first dorsal and it’s one of a only a few that will damn near beach itself chasing a meal (they are very common in shallow water). Threshers (Alopias) look nothing like this one.

That’s not a manta ray. Manta rays are MUCH MUCH bigger, swim out in the open ocean, and don’t sting.
Legend has it , sting ray is still running away .
It's a Stingray. You can clearly see the spike on its tail at 0:46, and less clearly at 0:32 & 0:42.
It's a member of the Whiptailed Stingray family, and usually called a Southern Ray.
