Because Arcade1Up got too deep into bed with the big retailers and forgot about those who love arcade cabinets. To get space on big retailers floors with the size and price of their product, retailers wanted to control what THEY felt they could sell their customers, no risks on anything else. That became Arcade1Up just doing big name brands only like Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Street Fighter, Fast & the Furious, Wheel of Fortune, etc..for their retailers. It's why Arcade1Up prototype cabs seen like Paperboy, Q*bert, 720, etc.. didn't make it to production, because they would ask their retailers if they thought they could sell them, and they would say, NO! Companies like New Wave Toys will be doing new cabinets to compete with Arcade1Up, so we may get our Pole Position at some point yet 😁
Yeah, I waited and waited for A1up to do a pole position 1&2. I would have pre ordered and paid the full 599.99. I put the buystuff mod onto my 50.00 Red Cross outrun and now have both and more. It would be neat to get custom art wrap for the outrun to change it to pole position along with the marquee.
@@kdj29 Yeah when John D and others were there they still had their issues, but at least they were doing cabinets that appeared to all their customer segments, which included the arcade community. After the failure of NFL Blitz it seems all went to hell and they seemed to shift their strategy to just sell what their retailers would be willing to sell. Oh well, time for other companies to step up so we'll see what happens.
In 2020-2021 I picked up dig dug. There was a sound/speaker issue with it so they sent me another one. I had the tetris/megaman/data East 200 games my arcade, gave it to a friend. Just recently got Ms.pacman and atari pocket players and really like those. I was waiting for retrocade to make a pole position cuz I like my Q*Bert, but they never made one, so I'm going to pick this up.
First, to get this out of the way, this is a great little device. However, I just got mine today and had a really bad experience. This is a Christmas present, but I decided to try it out first. I put in some rechargeable batteries, but it didn't turn on at all. So I tried some regular alkaline batteries and this time the cabinet lit up, but the game didn't turn on. I finally plugged it in but, no luck, it still didn't run. Frustrated, I pulled the batteries and went to Amazon get support and maybe start a return. The first troubleshooting step was to check the connection to the TV. Yeah, Amazon support is awesome. They don't bother to give you support for what you actually bought, they just throw random pages up that are "in the ballpark" and hope for the best I guess. Regardless, I plugged it in one more time without the batteries in and... it worked? I tried the batteries again and now it still works. Thank goodness I tried it first before I put it under the tree. Great device, but this experience does not fill me with confidence around their products. I think I'm still going to return it.
19kfox, I got this one at launch, but haven't opened it. The reason? It's actually a present for my brother as Pole Position is one of his favorite arcade games. I like the fact that it has a free spin wheel like the arcade, so I've heard it's very playable. You have to use the break and shifter often in order to master this game. I currently have it on my Buy Stuff Arcades mod for my Outrun cabinet. However, since I don't have a free spin wheel, it's quite difficult. I think I can get used to it with a bit of practice, though :) vgv
E-waste. Its a bit embarrassing to see an adult use this toy. You can play this game on a pc or handheld emulator and get a better experience as well as more games.
Thanks for the review Fox, this one actually looks more interesting than previous MyArcade stuff
I was surprised how tight the controls are.
How is that, My arcade can create this cab with this license, but arcade1up couldn't do this in they entire 6 years! Make that make sense, Foxy!

@@kdj29 There is Pole Position artwork for A1UP cabs like Outrun. Do you have the stand up or the sit down version?
I’d love one of these under the tree at Christmastime for sure!
👊🏻😎🕹️
This is well worth the cost of admission. Its plays well.
They caught be by surprise with this one.
What a wonderful sound you've discovered.

This should totally be 29.99-34.99,,, cant believe the 49.99 price tag
They should have a mini fighting mania fist of the north star with 6 punching pads 🥊but for thumbs
I still have my old Atari, played that game on curved tube lol 📺

I'd rather have the custom Outrun.
I can't play it well while holding it. It plays well on the correct leveled countertop.

Now please please please do Outrun.
How can you play with such small controls ??? What is so good about this if the steering wheel is so sensitive ???
I think there is probably a setting where you can alter the sensitivity of the wheel.
link to where these are for sale ?
