7 years later and this video helped me with my locking issues. I followed this video exactly and managed to get the locking mecanism to occasionally function. We were leaving on a lengthy vacation and because I didn't trust the lock, I took a key along with me. Sure enough, we got home and could not unlock the door. That's when I finally had to call Schlage. The first thing I was asked was what kind of batteries I was using. Told him I was using Energizer Max AA's. He then told me that certain batteries are required. You cannot use those super powerful batteries. He told me that I should use Duracell Alkaline batteries or something similar ONLY. No Amazon, no no-name, no rechargeable, no high-power batteries. Wouldn't you think you'd put that somewhere in your installation manual??? Went and got the right batteries, followed this video exactly and now it FINALLY works!! Thank you for this video!

Battery solution worked for me. I had been using Energizer rechargeables and it wouldn't power the lock at all. Got some Duracell alkaline batteries and it worked like a charm! Thanks for the support Schlage!

Doesn't work - Schlage customer service takes over a week to reply to an email. They couldn't figure out how to fix this. Was finally told my lock is out of warranty after 3.5 years - warranty only lasts 2. What a garbage product - does Schlage think I will buy a new $250 lock from them every 3 years. Will never buy a Schlage product again.

I have exactly the same lock but it doesn’t work for me for some reason. I used the same method, and I see the green light from the pad after the reset. But I can’t use any of the the original user code I found from the back of the lock to open the it, and the programming code doesn’t work, it doesn’t allow me to enter more than 4 digit of the code while the programming code is 6 digits. I’m wondering if you have any suggestions?

Factory reset your lock. Disconnect the batteries. Press the Schlage logo twice. Press and hold the outside Schlage Logo on the keypad. While holding the outside Schlage Logo, reconnect the batteries. Watch the keypad- the green checkmark will appear when the batteries are connected. Release the outside Schlage button. Operate it electronically by entering in default codes A or B. If the reset was successful, the lock will perform a setup routine. Wait until the bolt stops moving. The reset and setup are complete. I have this exact lock. I recently changed the batteries about 5 days ago. It worked a couple of days, now whenever I press any number button, the red x lights up and that's it. Any advice?
When replacing the batteries in our lock we recommend using high quality alkaline batteries only, Duracell and energizer batteries are preferred for ideal performance. Lithium, rechargeable, Amazon Basics, Rayovac, Everready, Kirkland and all other discount/generic brand batteries tend to drain rapidly in our locks. Nor do they provide sufficient power for Schlage locks. Additionally, batteries purchased in bulk tend to drain on the shelf prior to use. Also, the battery tray should be inserted with the batteries facing towards the door and the wire going across the top of the battery tray and connecting on the left. If the batteries are facing backwards, we have noticed the units will drain faster or the keypad will become unresponsive. Moved the lock to left hand door. It wont detect the switched side even with a reset. It opens instead of closing the door. Ive been on call wait for an hour with support. Been calling them for past 3 days

@@SchlageLocksOfficial I was attempting to use the Schlaget app. Which I just realized doesn't work with my lock. I accidentally bought the Z-wave lock instead of the zigbee lock. I mistakenly though they were the same thing. Hopefully amazon will save me. If you have a philips hue or echo plus you want the Zigbee lock. Lesson learned :)
I am having the same problem. The batteries ran low and after replacement. Now we can not get the lock to work with any of the default codes. Followed the instructions and wateched this video multiple times. The programming code seems to work but nothing more than that. Fortunately we can use an entrance with a trusty Kwickset lock. SO much for technology! Any help would be appreciated - from anyone - otherwise we'll go back to a brass knob

First of all, I replaced all 4 batteries by totally brand new Duracell. Secondly, I did the same procedure with factory reset, which in the video above. And it didn't help. I think I have a malfunctioned keyboard. The whole right column (3-6-9) is not working. Maybe some mechanical issue of keyboard module, because wires are looks okay.

If the lock is not accepting all 6-digits of the programming code, it's possible that the programming code is either incorrect, or it was at some point changed. If the latter, performing a factory reset on the lock should resolve the issue by reverting the programming code back to its original 6-digit combination. To factory reset: Disconnect the battery wire. Press and hold the Schlage button at the top of the keypad. While holding, reconnect the battery wire. This should revert the codes to their defults, allowing the lock to be programmed at that point. If you're still experiencing issues, please DM us so we may further assist you. Thanks!

Hello Brian, I'm sorry to hear you're having programming issues with your lock. After performing the Factory reset successfully, the only codes on the lock at that point would be the default codes (Programming Code, User Code A, and User Code B). If none of the three codes are working, please try the Factory Reset again to ensure the process was performed correctly. Aside from that, please verify that the programming sticker inside the lock matches the codes from the sticker you're currently using. Also, when is the lock giving you Red X's upon entering one of the default codes? If you're receiving a Red X immediately upon interacting with the first digit, the issues would most likely be the batteries as this is a critical battery warning. If the lock is giving you the Red X after successfully entering the whole code combination, then the lock is suggesting that that code does not currently exist. Please let me know if the issues persist after verifying the above items. Thanks!

Brian, If you enter your 6-digit programming code and receive a blinking orange light, this indicates you are now in "programming mode". From here you would follow a simple sequence dependent upon what you're attempting to do. If you're attempting to add a new access code for example, you would enter your 6-digit programming code > Press "1" > Enter your new 4-digit access code > Enter your new 4-digit access code again. Remember, the programming code does not lock or unlock the deadbolt. Only your 4-digit access codes are capable of locking/unlocking the deadbolt. You can find programming steps listed in the user's manual for your lock, as well as some videos on UA-cam illustrating the process. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
Hello, i did all of the above. However, it’s still not working. Everytime i enter the 4 digit code, green check blinks but so does the red cross. It happened with the original factory as well as new code i had set. Please help.

Schlage stupidly put the reset button on the front as part of the touch panel and it’s not known if it’s compressed or not when resetting. Currently can’t reset a deadbolt when I have 0 issues for any kwikset ones with legit physical buttons. Garbage

Ya, don't use any rechargeable batteries the voltage on those are not up to par with the regular batteries.

It won't lock from the outside using the schlage button. I'd always have to enter my user code.

The factory user codes won’t unlock the bolt. I get the green check mark like it recognizes the code but nothing happens.

If the lock is not accepting all 6-digits of the programming code, it's possible that the programming code is either incorrect, or it was at some point changed. If the latter, performing a factory reset on the lock should resolve the issue by reverting the programming code back to its original 6-digit combination. To factory reset: Disconnect the battery wire. Press and hold the Schlage button at the top of the keypad. While holding, reconnect the battery wire.
This should revert the codes to their defults, allowing the lock to be programmed at that point. If you're still experiencing issues, please DM us so we may further assist you. Thanks!
What do you do if this does not work? After a factory reset neither factory codes work. The programming code is also rejected after only 4 digits.

I did the factory reset,got the 3 blinking check marks but neither one of the factory codes do anything? Now what?

I'm sorry to hear you're having programming issues with your lock. After performing the Factory reset successfully, the only codes on the lock at that point would be the default codes (Programming Code, User Code A, and User Code B). If none of the three codes are working, please try the Factory Reset again to ensure the process was performed correctly. Aside from that, please verify that the programming sticker inside the lock matches the codes from the sticker you're currently using. Also, when is the lock giving you Red X's upon entering one of the default codes? If you're receiving a Red X immediately upon interacting with the first digit, the issues would most likely be the batteries as this is a critical battery warning. If the lock is giving you the Red X after successfully entering the whole code combination, then the lock is suggesting that that code does not currently exist. If you enter your 6-digit programming code and receive a blinking orange light, this indicates you are now in "programming mode". From here you would follow a simple sequence dependent upon what you're attempting to do. If you're attempting to add a new access code for example, you would enter your 6-digit programming code > Press "1" > Enter your new 4-digit access code > Enter your new 4-digit access code again. Remember, the programming code does not lock or unlock the deadbolt. Only your 4-digit access codes are capable of locking/unlocking the deadbolt. Hello, i did all of the above. However, it’s still not working. Everytime i enter the 4 digit code, green check blinks but so does the red cross. It happened with the original factory as well as new code i had set. Please help.

Schlage stupidly put the reset button on the front as part of the touch panel and it’s not known if it’s compressed or not when resetting. Currently can’t reset a deadbolt when I have 0 issues for any kwikset ones with legit physical buttons.
