Laura, Appreciated the kind words you had for your agronomist. I was an agronomist for over twenty years. It was a hard job but so fulfilling and the vast majority of farmers were a joy to work with.
To me, the best thing about this "episode" was Laura's support for Grant to have some fun and spend money (and time together) to buy a mystery pallet. Your togetherness, for lack of a better word, really shows. You each are so positive with the other. Very cool!
I just fell into your videos and must admit that I am now a HUGE fan. I have now watched 5 of your reports and am so impressed with your knowledge and ability to explain all that you and your farm "family" are doing each segment. Well done! I'm hooked.
This segment has been most enjoyable. The mini sections were quick and to the point. So enjoyable while being instructional. Your enthusiasm just burst off the screen. Good work.
Absolutely love your vids. Reminds me of days spent running combines, seed planters, etc that are now considered antiques. Mostly, I'm reminded of my grandfather, who for years was a South Dakota farmer. - How times have changed!
6:50 that blue shock is for a McPherson type suspension, usually front suspension and in this case in something larger (pickup truck presumably), but can also be used as rear suspension in some vehicles. There should be some type of number stamped in it to help you identify it, which will tell you what it's for
Those are McPherson strut towers, Grant. The others are coil over shocks as you knew. Laura, we still LOVE hearing you say "good evening" as much as your warm soothing sunny "gooood mooorning"! :-) Gives me/us the warm and fuzzies!
Evening or morning, both are always happy with lot of enthusiasm to share with us part of their daily work life !! I never thought that I was going to enjoy it , but honestly , I do.🖤🧡love it
This video was a lot of fun to watch. Grant was so happy (and 😄 funny) with all his new “toys” to play with….your expressions were just adorable 🥰 Really enjoyed the planter time….you have to keep up with so many gizmos. My brain would explode trying to keep all that info straight. Thanks for another great day in the life of my sweet Laura ❤️❤️❤️
I saw the large white tanks inside your garage we use such tanks at the. Car washes. A round float attached to a electrical cable is inside submerged. Her in Los Angeles in the winter sometimes when it gets to 50 degrees at night the tank won't fill up, it needs to be shaken. If there is a panel to it if the connectors get damages we put cardboard shims to make it work.
Love your videos, love watching the two of you work together as a team. You seem to have a great blend of doing some things together and some independently even though you are both in the same occupation. By the way you mentioned in a recent video about people saying you are not a real farmer as you never get dirty. I need to tell you about a good friend of mine who farms next door to the farm I grew up on. He is in his sixties and the Aussiest of Blokes, but, when I did some work for him recently in his largest tractor it is 12 years old and still smells like a new car. I was doing some discing of Oats stubble that had been used to feed beef cattle, he says to me, if you stop wait for the dust to go past before you open the cab door. Do not leave the cab open otherwise the dust off the tractor blows in side and wipe your boots on the mat at the door. He runs Valtras and our local AGCO dealer is owned and operated by a Husband and Wife team, and she told me she has instructed all of the techs they are only to wear socks in his cabs. He was born on that farm and lived there his whole life. Keep up the great work!
It was cool watching Grant go get the pallet and open all those packages. Pretty neat. It’s really enjoyable watching you guys run those planters and everything. You guys do a great job. Cool video. 👍👍👍❤️
Grant you know this already, but you are blessed! Remind yourself of this on the bad days> Gosh at 10 pm opening a grab bag, my better half would roll her eyes. AND she called you "sweetheart"! Happy for you two.
Hey Laura , There's a Clear or Black hose at the back of the tractor that is a drain line for the AC Condenser . Just shoot some air up the hose and it should start draining water . Happy Seeding .
That air lift thing is an air beiiows for trucks and trailers. Put on army truck. Take it Grant can't wait at Christmas either lol. That's a strut... to what... I have no idea. It's late... go to bed... but its Christmas come early. Need to feed the fields to grow the corn which feeds the cows which gives us milk and dinners. So hope you have a prosperous year.
That big "shock" that Grant recommended making a mail box out of is actually called a strut and they usually cost around $150-$175 EACH and the part # is probably on the box that tells you what kind of vehicle it goes to that way you know how to advertise them if your going to sell them.. Just a little helpful tip😉
I see a lot of awesome new projects & videos being in the pipeline from the pallet of parts you invested in, which will be cool, along with the awesome farming videos coming out throughout the year, 🇬🇧😎👍🏼
I worked on a golf course and prices for chemicals, fertilizer, sod, seed, sand anything golf related is off the charts. So I can understand the cost for farming. Shoot even equipment is unreal and watching you and other farming UA-camrs the prices are like wow. Glad you enjoy what you do and hoping y'all's children when y'all have some will love it just as much as you do. Love the video's...
I was Mac Distributor for 21 yrs and we used to get what we called Grab Bags and it was a similar deal. Items that former Distributors had returned when they quit or were fired were packaged up and sold as is. I bought a lot of them over the yrs and they were usually very good on one I paid 500.00 and I made over $10,000 on it. Its always a gamble but a good one.
Funny intro... Laura walks through the door looking like she has been planting all day (wink wink) and Grant moves into the video smiling like the cat who ate the canary. I'm rolling.
loving it! praying for rain to hold out in BC to get first crop off so we can plant corn. seeing your cab always makes me feel better about mine lol. keep it up!
Water hack: Take a bottle of water, let half the water out and put it in the freezer. In the morning fill the bottle up and you will have ice water for a long time; longer if you rap it in a jacket or towel. For water that you will need in a few ours just freeze the bottle full.
Good suggestion. I used to do that with gallon milk jugs full of water for football practice back in the day when we did three a days and such in middle of summer
When you freeze the bottle, lay it down horizontally. Then when you top up the bottle the next day, the added water mixes evenly withe the frozen water.
How’d YT not notify me there was a new video?! Gotta love how Grant’s just like “Hey, I bought a pallet of random stuff for $200 and it’s 10:30 at night-you wanna go pick it up?” “Sure, whatever, I’m too exhausted to argue.” Oh, and holy cow, that was longest intro before the intro ever--I love it!
Love his creative thoughts, It's really unfortunate someone was dishonest and took the pump. I would've asked the storage facility about it and have them check the security cameras. That is a typical and regular occurrence buying storage contents sometimes you'll have unethical employees taking things. I'm curios if you asked the seller about it? Obvious you got your moneys worth but it's still wrong to misrepresent something you agree on and you arrive to find contents tampered with. Always enjoy seeing your videos and love & admiration you two have towards each other!
Wow, they grow fence posts in Nebraska! Did you guys have the high winds during the week of 5-9-22? In NW Iowa, where I was, it was 94F with up to 50mph gusts. On the upside the muddy areas dried up quickly! I continue to really enjoy the site, thanks for keeping it going!
For that AC water leak, find the end of the condensate drain line and gently blow into it with an air hose. That usually dislodges the crud that is blocking it near the evaporator coil or pops the dirt dauber nest near the end of the drain line loose.
There is a lot of dust with these tractor's HVAC systems. Some of it leaks past the cabe inlet air filters. Laura needs to remove and blow out that filter cartridge or replace it and also blow out that condensate drain tube.
I use my small shop wet/dry vac on the drain lines for my home split units so I don't blow the clog up into the unit and have to possibly deal with it again. I cobble a smaller piece of garden hose to the vac adapter to get a better connection.
I enjoyed your enthusiasm as you both looked over your surprise pallet. The truck mirrors alone made the pallet worthwhile. . . . it reminded me of a time I was sitting in my car in a mall parking lot in Calgary. Two guys quickly driving through the parking lot, stopped at my car. They rolled down their window and asked, "Hey, do you want a cheap new LED TV or a stereo?" Would you believe I replied, "Not right now, but thanks for stopping." 🤔
I was always in awe with farming - and never understood how you make any money - just what you are using now -- tractor $ -- planter / drill $ -- diesel $ -- seed $ -- fertilizer $ -- etc. I mean my little JD 855 cost me $10,000 used -- I hope people appreciate like Kate's AG says how the food gets from the farm to your table -
You mentioned planting population, so I'm curious what row widths x seed spacing are you using? I'm trying 30 x 6.5 in this year, the first planting from May 1st is just popping up today (has been cold and wet here), I only have a small place and an antique corn planter (JD 290 from the 1950s). If you like the pallets ... you can bid on them online via ebay as they come fresh from Amazon rather than after a local sort out.
It is nice to be young. Many people told me to enjoy my youth, but now that I am old and I have also been disabled for 31 years I encourage you to love every minute of your youth. I am also a Godly man, so enjoy life as responsibly as you can.
BANG Energy drinks are great tons of energy for hours, the Lemon Drop taste just like Sprite. Or just a good old 5-Hour energy shot either orange or Strawberry Watermelon flavor.

A lot of places do that all the time they’re like returned or things have been ordered and nobody paid for. Let me know online orders were things come in the Walmart Meyer
This is awesome. It’s like Xmas day opening presents. Were you worried on what you were going to get? Let it could had been boxes filled sand or bikinis 🤔

Lol... is "planting" what young farm couples are calling it these days? That could lead to some "harvesting" nine months later 🙂
Grant seems like the coolest guy to be around. He seems like a really good dude!

Hodgepodge of items left unattended from whatever for $200 bucks & then let the dice fall where they may. Jackpot! 🍻🇺🇸🤘🏼🇺🇸🍻
Happy birthday, young lady. Thanks for sharing your excellent videos of your life. Makes my day!

Happy Birthday! Another story - exciting as always. Thanx for that.
Have a nice day, lovely couple, thank you Kate
Good video where do You find those deals? Stay safe and good luck with planting season
Hey Laura, there should be a clear hose running from the roof ac down the side of the cab to drain the condensation buildup. Great content.
A few years ago I got a lockbox at the bank and put my wife's anniversary gift in it and gave her the key on Saturday night. She had to wait until Monday to see her gift. The wait and guessing was the best part of the gift for her. Buying Grant a pallet of stuff for Christmas would be the same. He sure loves looking in all the boxes and seeing what he "scored".
You people are sweet. You got it...!
My brother Glen and i had the buggest argument in life over a box of Junk my grandfather Thompson gave him and not me. Funnnnnny so my Mom had grandpaw make up another box of junk for me to stop the argument.
And my brother and i made peace, and spent the rest of our youth building TOYS OUT OF JUNK.!

Wow, that cab was a mess and would have looked much more homey if it had a nice new set of car floor mats and maybe a nice shock absorber wind chime hanging from the rear view mirror!
Hope the neighbor got going again.
Thanks Laura & Grant.
Crazy tractor/farming. Ofc I would love the tech and scale but I'm more a ten tomato plant type of guy.
Awesome equipment.
That would make a beautiful and practical mailbox. Baseball bats, yall. And bag of ice.
I was interested in your comment about low margins in farming. Given the huge capital cost of the farm equipment I am unclear on the economics. Do you have to be from a farming background so you can borrow equipment to get started?
Haygood I on the fence post not only could that been a bad day for a tire but a lot of other mechanisms first time I seen you guys's video looks like a lot of fun technology is amazing remember walking in a field sticking my thumb in the dirt and putting some seeds in big difference
NOS Sonic Sour and the GT Grape is two of my favorites !
Nice score FInd the part numbers off those shocks and you will know what they go to.
By the way I was excited as you were.
Here in Michigan I've been finding Sour Patch Kids flavored energy drinks, pretty good, keep an eye out.
the large spring assembly that Grant held up - black spring, blue sheet metal on the other end - is a McPherson strut; normally the spring is installed 'up', the blue part would be bolted to the wheel hub or steering knuckle... got a death wish? take the assembly apart without compressing the spring first...

Good eyes Laura that metal post almost blended in!!!!
Air jacks are awesome! But always use a stand before getting under the vehicle.
Best energy drink = V (if you have that over there)
It's like Christmas it very cool must open as soon as possible.
if your stores out there carry reigns try those they are a 300mg caffeine energy drink they have multiple flavors and they are good
what hydraulics do you use for the fans and the vacuums on the planter? great video!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA !!! .👍👍🎂🎂🎂
Probably want to add putting the shopvac on the AC drain lines in your Spring tractor start up maintenance.
Most likely your AC condensation drain is plugged. Easy fix, blow out the drain hose with your air hose. You can tear into it later and clean out the condensation pan when planting is over.

This was kind of fun. you can probably sell some stuff and re-coop your money and keep stuff you might use someday. Thank you for sharing with us. 😁
