I am a Lard girl! The soap is so lush on the skin and never smells like bacon post saponification. Great lather as it cures. However, very slow mover and must have patience. If you over stick blend with an accelerator FO, you will be sad😂 Thank you Ellen, for always sharing your amazing talent and love for soap making.

I use 75% lard, 20% Coconut and 5% castor. It's great! Using lard slows trace, it's good for more complicated swirls that need time.

Stunning. I have personally only made one batch of very simple one color soap but I have watched roughly 1000 videos. Lol. Your swirls are my absolute favorite. Your soaps are always gorgeous regardless of the design but I can't get over your swirls! In addition to knowing the right time to swirl, I think it's also because you don't over work the swirls. I am getting ready to make a soap with a very subtle hanger swirl and I'm going to use what I've learned from your vids. Hopefully, it turns out half as gorgeous as yours.

I made a lard soap for my daughter-in-law. She had requested a fragrance that was known to accelerate, so I replaced my palm oil with lard and tweaked my recipe just a little in an attempt to slow it down. I did a layered soap and it worked great, but now I have a whole bucket of palm oil that I am going to struggle to use because I love the lard soap so much! 😂😅😊

Extra Virgin Olive oil has become very pricey in my homeland Greece so many of us who make handmade soap go for a cheaper alternative :olive kernel oil which is great for frying ! It produces a fantastic soap either at 72 % or even less!! Also we save any oil we use for frying as it makes one of the best soaps ! Following your recipe I've made a 72% lard and 28%coconut oil and it came out great. Thank you for your videos so inspiring!!!

I used 10% cocoa butter, 20% coconut oil, 5% castor oil, 25% lard (pig tallow), 10% mango butter, 20% olive oil, and 10% shea and like your batter, it took a while to trace. I make all my soap with lard or tallow. Lard slows trace; tallow goes a little faster, but it makes a good, hard soap without the need for palm. My lard soap is always super white. I wonder if the residual sugars from the bacon are scorching just a little bit and making the soap yellow. I use as much CO as lard, and I get great lather.

The recipe had 20% coconut, 15% palmbutter(palmkerneloil), 10% shea, 5% castor and 15% oliveoil (due to the high prices) I also added all of the extras ERS-style 🙂 It is now one of my go to soaps at home. You could probably wash it one more time in a crock pot if the bacon smell survives saponification???

@@VeronicaMontes-zn6pc Yes, CP soap is fully saponified and the correct pH after about 72 hours, so it's safe to do a lather test. I still give my soaps a full cure of 4-6 weeks after that.

This is not a soap comment. Do you like your scale? I recently bought a WeighMax scale, and the weight jumps all over the place and is not accurate. I am returning it. So, I need a new scale. Before I buy one, I was wondering how you like yours. Thank you!!!

Personally, I've been loving my scale. If I'm going fast, sometimes it takes a second for it to settle on a weight, so I can see what you're saying.
