Looks like a Macbros action, which is fantastic. I might buy one in 308 if they become available in stores. Have an XDM and love it, so Springfield do know how to put together great stuff.
Ergonomically and Aesthetically this is a premium bolt rifle with all the bells and whistles, price tag is up there but you get what you pay for in this world.. I would love to get a range day firing from 100 - 1000 yards with a decent piece of glass on it 😉
I swear they owe me at least one free one. Early 2019 I made a comment on a official Springfield channel they needed to make a bolt action rifle. I also want 10% of all sales made. 😉😂
Seems like a nice rifle at a good price for all the features you get. My biggest gripe about it is, apparently, the bolt doesn’t lock closed when the safety is on. As others have said, it’s also basically just another Remington 700. Personally, I’ll be sticking with my Winchester Model 70 300 win mag for longer range hunting and my Winchester 1894 for short range hunting.
I just don't get the non locking bolt as a deal breaker. I've used 700 action for years, and it's second nature to check the bolt. I just bought the redline in 308. I'm happy as a tick on a dog's ear. Shoots great and just became my favorite rifle.
@@randallwhite9015 The issue with a non-locking bolt is that when you're carrying it out in the field, say on a sling, it can find its way open and drop the round on the ground when you're walking. Has happened to me several times with my Ruger American Rimfire.
I can’t take this review seriously because of two things. One, this guy keeps acting like this is a hunting rifle and two, the choice of scope. Clearly this is a long range precision weapon, that CAN be used for hunting, but is clearly meant for long range precision so it should be sporting a leupold Mark 5!
How much? So I can buy ten budget rifles in the calibers I want and still buy some ammo. I'll pass and it's still Springfield not giving my cash to them ever.
I never understood this logic. It only happens in the gun community. You never hear someone say, "Ha, you bought a Lamborghini? I could have bought 100 Honda Civics for that and gas for a year!" I understand not liking Springfield for the crap they pulled, but comparing this to $200 budget rifles is beyond moronic. Hell, at least a Civic is a decent vehicle. A $200 bolt gun is more like a rusty unicycle with a flat tire.
Well Theodore my guess is you don’t have many neighbors that own a Lamborghini. Though lately I have seen quite a few Maserati around in fact someone drove one to a competition shoot in Ohio recently. Never saw what they we’re shooting maybe a glock! Yes I’m being facetious. However the cost of this rifle for what it is doesn’t command the price tag. There is nothing custom about it in fact it’s piece milled together with parts from other manufacturers. I’m just stating the obvious you can get several budget rifles in different calibers than over pay for this. Oh and as a side note never would I buy a civic ever. Even though it’s more American than the big three now.
@@umami0247 I don't think you know WTF your talking about. Here's a breakdown of this rifle's parts as you can see Springfield is giving a hell of a deal on these. AG stock $850 Bottom metal $150 TriggerTech $150 BSF carbon fiber barrel $650 SA brake $50 That's $1950 before the blueprinted action they're providing the cheapest you can get a custom action for is about $800 and then add a couple hundred in gunsmith fees to put all those parts together. Just because it's not a cheap rifle doesn't mean it doesn't deliver alot for the money.
@@gsxr1189 hey if this is what you need to shoot better have at it. I don’t I’ve killed many animals in my life and never did I need a rifle that cost more than 700 dollars. Ridiculous price, the average hunter CANNOT afford the price tag on the guns that are coming out, I can hit the same target with a decent rifle and optics for 1/3 the price.
For a full carbon stock, carbon barrel, triggertech trigger, and that action? Please price that out on a different manufacturer. This rifle is a steal at that price.
You must not know what ridiculous prices are. There are actions and barreled actions that cost as much and more than this Springfield rifle alone. But, to keep it apples to apples I will give you links to some companies rifle prices to actually bitch about. proofresearch.com/rifles/ christensenarms.com/bolt-rifles/ www.hillcountryrifles.com/product-category/hunting-rifles/ www.nosler.com/m48-longrange-carbon-rifle
Just-in so angry, not bitching, pointing out the obvious that if you need all this highly priced shit to take down a deer or ?, you need to learn to shoot better
rebas04 So if someone can shoot accurately with a cheap rifle but they saved up and treated their self to a badass high dollar rifle, they should still learn to shoot better? It sounds like you’re just bitter and can’t afford a badass rifle. To each their own.
There is a lot of improvement that can be done in the production bolt gun department. Remington actions are great but they are out dated. Savage (in my opinion) is moving forward but there is a lot to be desired as well. Self barrel changes (like savage or remage) should be standard, trigger swaps should be easy, tactical bolt handles should be easily swapped (like savage), fiberglass stocks or chassis should be solid from the factory and easily torqued and mounted into the chassis or stock in the exact spot like what a rail does to a scope. All this and under 1000 bucks. Surely it doesn't need to cost 2500 and up!
Too bad a company that actually supports your second ammendment couldnt come out with this. Its another 700 yipee. Show me a new rifle based on a mauser action with control feed and i might get excited.
Don’t think so. Way better American made choices out there. Christianson arms comes to mind. Absolutely not a fan of shooting at big game at a thousand yards which seems to be a thing these days. Lived in Bozeman. Did lots of elk hunting. NEVER had to shoot past 250 yards. It’s called hunting. Shameful what passes for it today. Doesn’t bode well for the sport I love. Look up the governor’s elk tag Arizona this year. It’s on u tube. Kills this bull at 970 yds. Had8-9 people working for him. What the hell you call that. SICK. Pitiful. Why didn’t he just pay some one to do the whole thing and not bother to get out of bed.
Worst part of our Gov tag was that he took that bull from another hunter that was on him for over a year. Where that bull was, there was not a better or closer place to get to him. +500 years shots are quite common in canyon country
Kinda fugly if you ask me. Guess I’m old fashioned. I like the way stocks use to look. If it has a pistol grip I would prefer one like on an AR or some of the home defense shotguns. Couldn’t afford it anyhow.
Yawn. This is a little bit like when Springfield decided to jump into the AR market, something no one wanted from them. I would rather have a well thought out hunting rifle from an established company like say a Weatherby Mark V or Browning X Bolt. For long range, I would rather either have a Seekins Bravo on the low end, or, a high end precision action like a Defiance. This is just more crowding in an already crowded market and Springfield isn't exactly known for quality on it's production guns.
Looks like a Macbros action, which is fantastic. I might buy one in 308 if they become available in stores. Have an XDM and love it, so Springfield do know how to put together great stuff.

I look forward to this hitting the market, I'll probably pick one up in 6.5Creedmoor.
Just wondering what size rings are you using and what Leupold are you using
I would really like to handle one, Hell, I can't even find any for sale...it's all wait list..Springfield, when are they going to be on the market?
Yep they got it wrong. 6.5 PRC in a short action. With the free bore they cut it needs to be in a long action. 45 thousands not enough.

I would love to buy one in PRC. Just can't find it anywhere

24" on the 6.5 PRC
