I heard they aren't any good. Because of the beak down of newer gas. The gas causes premonition problems and destroys the pistons. You are a shop have you heard or see this? In your opinion. A NEW on the factory skid 1991 force 70hp be better than a used tahasu 40hp that looks to of been ran hard but runs?
Depends on how you take care of them and with 91 non-oxygenated fuel they run just fine. Force has its issues but all brands do most people who owned them didn't maintain them at all and couldn't believe they would stop working like any other outboard. Id take the force over a used Tohatsu all day long. My main reason would be finding parts or a dealer to work on a Tohatsu anywhere other then on a coastal line. The other would be most used Tohatsu parts you will find are saltwater if you can find any. Thanks, James Jr
