Getting a sum wrong is a mistake. Consciously getting a sum wrong is something else: dark and sinister. Boeing's management has consciously put profits and schedule ahead of quality and safety. The 737-Max 8 disasters taught them nothing. Calhoun was there during the Max-8 catastrophes. As CEO he could have righted the ship. He didn't. That was a conscious decision on his part. For him to now call it a mistake shows his unconscionable hubris and arrogance. He has no heartfelt desire to bring honesty, integrity and reliability back to Boeing. If he had, things would have changed after the Max-8 incidents. Shame on him, all of Boeing management, and the FAA.
Wow......our chief safety officer is going to make sure our planes are fit to fly......should have done that before they left the factory. Unbelievable.
@@jayenga22 They probably didn't HAVE a chief safety officer position until they just invented it to provide cover for the CEO, protecting him from having to take responsibility.

The next drama is the rudder PCU again, loose rod end nuts on the rudder power control unit input rod. The idiotic design only has locknut with no cotter key. If the locking feature is worn out, the nut comes off and the plane will go into uncontrollable yaw. Can you believe this, after the rudder issues they had before sent the plane into the ground.
I will not fly on a Beoing jet - especially not a 737 Max. I'll pay extra to an airline that uses Airbus jets instead. I haven't flown on a 737 Max since the problem with controls that caused two 737 Max jets to crash. Now I won't fly ANYTHING Boeing ever. I don't trust Boeing to build & maintain jets safely. I doubt I'm alone. We had two (2) jets crash because of problems with the 737 Max. They swore they'd ensure it was the safest plane in the sky. They ignored that vow. Why should we trust them now? Clearly Boeing intends to make money however it can then run damage control if there's a problem. The solution to this problem is ruthless consistency & attention to detail. BY CONSUMERS, ensuring they're flying with airlines who fly Airbus. And ensuring they shun any airline flying Boeing - especially the 737 MAX.
Just so you know the 767 passenger jets to my knowledge have never had a mechanical , they did run one out of fuel but that is a pilot and ground crew issue.
Boeing needs to forgo 737 program & start from scratch designing single aisle aircraft…..Also Boeing needs to understand that cost cutting beyond a point will comeback to them eventually….. Mr Calhoun build the company from groundup….it will eventually pay in the long term….
And the oscar goes to..... this dude who prioritizes share price and pumping out planes at the cost of potentially killing hundreds. Shameful doesn't even begin to cover it.
Reports now indicate that workers were forced to falsify safety reports by Executive Management at the Boeing spinoff Spirit AeroSystems. If true, Executives at the two companies should be investigated for criminal negligence. Also I think that they should be individually liable for damages. The whole problem is a structural and cultural issue at Boeing. I am sure they will still get a bonus as they resign, or retire, or quietly let go. It happens to the best of us.
Can Boeing just retire the 737 and start design a new aircraft with latest technology like how a startup did? This 737 seems to have lots of problem from start. It’s like treating symptoms and not the root cause

An aerospace company should be as cutting edge on quality as they are on technology. Pictures of every finished assembly. Videos of every installation step. AI review of the photos and videos. Should be no problem AT ALL. My Tesla can tell when I have my eyes closed when the car is moving. Don't you think a camera can determine if a bolt is in place? It's just plain and simple lack of ingenuity and commitment to quality. Even if it was Spirit's fault, they are a supplier and Boeing knows the stakes if their supplier makes errors. They should (should have already) put top QC technology AT THEIR PLANTS AND AT THEIR SUPPLIERS and require them to implement. 😡

Check this UA-cam video. 'Not a good thing': Boeing whistleblower reacts to Alaska Airlines mid-flight incident At 8.53 into the video, he is saying that the company has been REMOVING QUALITY CONTROL iNSPECTIONS. More than likely this is contributing to the 'sloppy' workmanship going out the door. Some airlines are going down this road by removing Independent Quality Control Inspectors , (those individuals independent from production). So QC is being 'watered down'.

Half right. He did ask the NYT reporters to take something off the record; they refused. Frontline played the NYT interview. Also it was some of Mullenburg’s lieutenants, especially Mark Forkner, who blamed the crashes on pilot error. Not to say Calhoun didn’t, but it wasn’t reported.
Boeing is lead by a basetball team captain and accountant: Calhoun was born April 18, 1957, in Philadelphia and grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
