I was randomly surfing UA-cam and came across your video of Saskatoon. I’ve lived in Saskatoon my whole life and it truly is a great city. It’s grown so much since I was a kid. Saskatoon is very active in the summer time with an event almost every weekend. A walk downtown by the river is always a great date night with my girlfriend
Born, raised, and living in Saskatoon. Honestly can’t imagine living anywhere else. The skies are vast, the people are kind, and it’s definitely full of “charm!” Please make sure to look out for the beautiful canola fields on your road trip! 🌾🌾🌾
@Shuky Badeer many locals refer to it as "Ghettogreen" ..I think that says enough XD I recommend staying away from anywhere that has a letter of the alphabet as the street name. If you want cheap but not sketchy look in evergreen and willowgrove.
Yes! As a touring musician I’ve had the privilege of seeing our country many times over, and spending time in the gem that is Saskatoon. Not to mention, Saskatchewan in general, is gorgeous! The northern part of the province has some gorgeous camping, lakes and beaches!
I was born in Saskatchewan, and it holds a special place in my heart, people have conquered the land and built a home there, in a sometimes challenging climate. Great people, down to earth, always love going back!
Saskatoon is such an underrated Canadian city. The people are kind and unpretentious and there's so many amazing artists/designers and musicians in the city.
I'm incredibly surprised to see a video about Saskatoon! Born and raised here, it's great to see Saskatoon get some recognition. Wonderful video Alina!
I was raised in village about 40 minutes from Saskatoon. And this is where I went to university. It is a special city and has so much to offer! Thanks for the wonderful video!!
I'm in love with this video! I almost cried, to be honest, haha. So heart warming. So many memories. I'm not even Canadian, actually my boyfriend is studying at USask for a period and I left Brazil for one month to visit him. So my first international trip was to Saskatoon, not Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal (still wanna go to these places). I just loved every moment, the parks, bridges, Broadway, Berry Barn, all the nice restaurants. This video made me feel like I was there again. Thank you for this content!
Thank you for this video, it is helping me to appreciate what this province has to offer. In my 40s I couldn't wait to get away from Saskatchewan, but after a few years Abroad i am rediscovering good old Saskatchewan. Very well done.
I love Saskatoon, it has everything a big city has, but with the small town feel...Ive lived in Montreal, Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver and many more....I've always felt like Saskatoon was home. thanks for the upload :)
Another great travel vlog! Saskatoon looks like a nice place to visit in summer. It's great your parents can enjoy your travels with you. You're a great daughter!!
I spent a week there in August 2008 and have always wanted to return. What a pretty, clean, neat city it is. People were friendly and I was impressed with how well organized the place was. Thanks for making this video; it brings back some fond memories.
Beautiful! Great video! I've lived in two different countries, three different provinces, and Saskatoon has, and will always be home. I've been back for 12 years, and I just love it.
I have lived in Saskatoon for 23 years, my family moved here when I was only 9. I have always lived in Saskatchewan, but we moved around a lot. Saskatoon is definitely my favorite city I have lived in. The trails through the trees down by the river are gorgeous and good exercise! Makes you feel like your not even in the city at all!
I'm thinking about moving to Canada and picked Saskatchewan province because of its farmlands. I'm a farmer myself. I want a quiet place to live and raise my kids. do you think I'm making a good decision?!
Thank you very much Alina for this beautiful tour with your dad in this fantastic city. Everything was nice and also the food looked amazing. The several bridges crossing the river are truly awesome.
I have said for years that living in Saskatchewan gives you particular bragging rights when you travel the world. Blistering heat, freezing cold, enormous lakes, wide expansive prairie, lush forests, sand dunes, badlands, and the highest point above sea level in Canada from east to west until you hit the Rockies.
It was fun as a kid, visiting Saskatoon in the winter. We stayed at the Sheraton, which had a small waterslide and a hot tub. And a nice lil 70s/80s style restaurant. And the Sheraton is right across from the Bessborough-which brought upon me all kinds of nightmares whilst peering across the view at it. Of course, it's quite lovely. But something about it lent itself to horror stories. One highlight, too, was eating at TACO TIME. I was from Kindersley, so we didn't have any kinda taco joint to hit up. As well, there was a mall that was underground. Which is pretty sci-fi. Used to love getting an Orange Julius in the place.
Very nicely done from the plane ride in to the food delights of Toon town ! Thanks for the insight there - it’s been a small while since I have been there from Ontario but what I really enjoyed was the people - they were naturally warm and outgoing ! I have been there both at -43C (without the wind-chill) to +27C it’s always great there !
Great video. I'm from Ontario and even though Saskatchewan is not that far away, I didn't really know anything about that province, so it was really interesting to watch this. Seems like such a relaxing place to be. Thanks for the video. Keep smiling 🤘 🙂
Speaking as a fellow Brit, It is a beautiful city. A friend of mine moved over to that part of Canada years ago, and lives in a small prairie town. When I am over, we often go into the city during the weekends with his family. Lots of brilliant restaurants/Cafés. (I recommend D'lish by Tish and if you like Indian, it has to be Kashmere).
Really loved this video. It was so relaxing to watch and it was great to see you with your Dad and Friend. The accompanying soundtrack was awesome too. Can't wait for the next one.
That pie looked fantastic. I am so glad you have been showing the West Coast. Makes me want to go home. But then, as you pointed out, I remember how cold the winters are and realise how fortunate I am to be in Melbourne. I hope you get back to Australia and do some videos here. Safe travels!!
Wow, really nice video! From WA state, I've bicycled through in 2012 then made it a final bike touring destination in 2018. Throughly enjoyed it and the salt of the earth people I met. Thank you for doing a great Saskatoon review. My hometown and have been going back lately after a 20+ year hiatus. I see many changes and yet it " feels ' like it did so many years ago.
This week I learned that Saskatoon is derived from the Cree word “Mis-sask-quah-toomina”, and the city is actually named after the berry. Not the other way around!
Moved away from Sask to BC in 2016 and seeing this video brought back some good memories. When I saw you were at Odd Couple, before you even mentioned you were having the Crab Rangoon, that's what immediately came to mind. The food there is delicious. Thank you Alina for putting together this great video.. I particularly love this video because I have never been to Saskatoon before, but I will be relocating to this city in September from my home country. Good to see how beautiful the place is.. and I hope to enjoy my stay in my soon-to-be home.
Walking through Broadway these summer weekends has been an absolute pleasure, I usually go to the Dlish cafe to get productive. The city has a cozy charm to it. Been living here for almost 3 years now and love it ❤️
Your title is absolutely true, a very much under rated lovely and beautiful city where I lived for 8 years long time ago. It forever holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for promoting Saskatoon!
Beautiful video, I grew up there and loved everyday in my home city. I miss it now and hope to return someday as the people there are great and it has the best living sky's on a hot summer night.
it was good to see a video about the city i live in, it definitely is an underrated city and not many people inside or outside of Canada probably heard of our small city but sometimes you just gotta appreciate small cities too since they also have their own charm
Great little video! As a born and raised Saskatoon boy it’s always Great to go back there!!! We just had my Father’s funeral day supper at the Berry Barn, it was one of his favourites. Great spot!!!
I live in Saskatoon. It is not too bad of a city in my opinion. Biggest plus I would say is the affordability compared to other cities in Canada. Can't wait for your road trip vlogs around Saskatchewan!
Born and raised in Saskatoon..graduating from university of Saskatchewan…the memories are long and deep I love Saskatoon as it holds great memories and stories of a growing city
Visited the Toontown (from Winnipeg) a couple of times , one in fall and the other in winter, surprisingly both times I felt colder in Saskatoon than in Winnipeg, but tbh it’s a beautiful city and a hidden gem in the prairies .
I do love "Toon Town" during my annual visits to this part of Canada. I certainly recognise some of the sights here and of course, the Berry Barn. Nice wee place to visit indeed.
Definitely underated, as a Nova Scotian who only drove through Canada to work in Alberta, I always looked at Saskatchewan as nothing but flat plains for farmland
Aww your Dad would have been so happy to see you :). Thank you for visiting him! And thank you for the wonderful video of Saskatoon. Hope to visit some day. From Western Australia.
I grew up in Saskatoon and even went to university there. Your video sure brings back memories and I now live on the other side of the world on the Gold Coast of Australia. we miss what is familiar and I miss the seasons that are so pronounced in Saskatoon with all the colours and big temperature changes. It is a wonderful place and the people are very polite and generally kind to each other as most communities based on farming culture.. a friendly safe place with its own beauty and charm...
I had never been to Saskatoon until some relatives moved there. When we finally got to visit them a few years ago, it was sort of a family get together. There were relatives from BC to Quebec staying there & everyone had a great time. Our hotel overlooked the river & the views were stunning. Wish we could have stayed longer, but maybe next time.
We have some summer activities. Taste of Saskatchewan , restaurants selling smalls goodies sames from their restaurant by the river. Folk fest all over city. Showing different cultures of the city. And alot more summer activities. There is a riverboat one can travel and see our city from the river. And so much more.
I am so glad you posted a little bit of the dancing at rive landing. We have been running Salsa by The River for the last 12 years. It is a free event where we dance Salsa, Bachata, Kiz music. It runs all summer long on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9 pm. I moved here from Toronto in 2003 and Saskatoon have become my home. Love it here!
Thanks Alina, a great video of some more of Saskatoon, (known as Toon city) ))))). As always you shared some great food, I loved the pie and ice cream. It was great seeing your Dad and also Laine. You have a great family that supports you and forever blessed to have them. Thanks for all you have shown in this city, I would definitely visit if I ever get to Canada. Be safe and always a joy to see your smile in everything you show us. You are driving, so what's next? ❤👍😊
Thank you (and you amazing co-hosts: your Dad and Laine) for the lovely tour of Toontown. I've learned a lot more about this city through your content than anywhere else. Looking forward to your road trip videos!
On a road trip to Alaska in a 1986 Chevy Z 24 in 1990? I had my car's oil changed in Saskatoon at a quickie lube and it was the very first time they had seen that type of car in their bay. They were fascinated by the electronic displays on the dashboard. That town always impressed me as clean and very safe.
Great video! Brings back memories when I visited Saskatoon 22 years ago. A girl I was dating then took me to a Japanese restaurant in the historic Bessborough hotel. I think it was called Samurai.
Sas is a unique place, I live in the city but go to rural places. Your dad is cool, I chuckled when he makes a comment, he has a unique personality, tough but gentle too. Love to see Lian, the other side of people your circle!# Looking forward!#
Thanks much for the informative video. We're planning a trip there & Regina this summer, and your video is helpful in giving us ideas of where to go. 😊
There is soooo much to do in Saskatoon! Downtown Saskatoon is something between a modern metropolis and an old fashioned paradise! Such a beautiful place, even after the countless visits!
And yet...it ain't what it used to be. Lived there from 87 to 2000... many people live there and work two and sometimes three part time jobs just to exist.
For some reason Saskatchewan feels colder in winter than other Provinces even if they’re enjoying brutally cold weather. I drove from Winnipeg MB when it was -50C. I hit Saskatoon where it was -37C. Saskatoon felt much colder! But I must say Saskatchewan in general has the most beautiful and friendly women in Canada!
Hello Saskatoon I am very happy to see Saskatoon again. A lot of memories and love for me. A city with lot of warmth and it welcomed me in unbelievable love when I Immigrated to Canada. I love it to my hard, soon I will come and see what changed from the 80is.
I'm brazilian, going to live in Canada next year, i was planning to go to Regina because i believed it was the biggest city in Saskatchewan, but now you made me fall in love with Saskatoon, i heard that Joni Mitchell lived there.
As I've stated Saskatoon is my favorite prairie city it just has it's own vibe. Whenever driving east or west it's a stopping point. Alina you know that "" Not Bad" for most farmers and ranchers is pretty high praise. In past years, I've occasionally booked something through Flight Centers, but never in Saskatoon. I wonder what my reaction would be if I realized that the globe trotting UA-camr I'm watching, had booked some trip for me years earlier.

Looks so lonely
I was born in north battleford but have spent a lot of time in Saskatoon with family.
Never been but I always marvel at how clean and well put together Canadian cities are. Looks like a really cute place.
Looks are deceiving lol as some one from Saskatoon it’s not that great
Looks are deceiving, I agree. Canadian cities are actually really gloomy and dark. I want to move to the US!
Gotta hit up the cleanest area known to man: 20th St
@Sophie_LOVE How so? America is so big and diverse you can’t criticize the country as a whole.

Your dad has a great sense of humor! 👍
Great video! Brings back memories when I visited Saskatoon 22 years ago. A girl I was dating then took me to a Japanese restaurant in the historic Bessborough hotel. I think it was called Samurai.
Yes!!! I remember that place as well. Sad they closed it down.
Sas is a unique place, I live in the city but go to rural places. Your dad is cool, I chuckled when he makes a comment, he has a unique personality, tough but gentle too. Love to see Lian, the other side of people your circle!# Looking forward!#
Thanks Alina, I am putting Saskatoon on my go list. Very charming and all the summer flowers, awesome. 😂
Warmly regards from Bali Indonesia.
I have younger sister & her family live in Vancouver, a nice city. Always love to see your video👍
Thanks much for the informative video. We're planning a trip there & Regina this summer, and your video is helpful in giving us ideas of where to go. 😊
My old stomping ground’s, but i moved. You definitely captured the beauty of Saskatoon.
I lived in Saskatoon for 4 years and loved a lot it has to offer. Life is different there.
Yoooooooo That intro deserves sooo much credit. One of the best quotes I've ever heard.
Love Saskatoon, just 2 months in. lovely video too.
Fun fact Saskatoon is referenced in the song wheat kings
Guess Who..."Running back to Saskatoon".
It is a lovely city! Working at flight center definitely had some benefits but overall I did not enjoy working there lol
