    This is a breath of fresh air after watching many YT fire scenes. Good departments always make it look easy, which it is not. Decker and the boys do it again. Solid A grade, from a stingy grader.

    Chief Decker It is AMAZING watching your command at a fire scene. Everything seems to flow in perfect unison. Your crew are very efficient and you can tell they respect you and your decisions. Would LOVE to meet you someday

    No climbing on the roof to cut unnecessary holes, No braking windows unnecessarily, No confusion. Just walk in the front door, climb to the second floor and but water on the burning material. Well done!

      AMEN, PREACH ! This is one of the most elite fire departments to post or be posted on UA-cam! Chief David Decker runs a top shelf operation and seems to be at the top of his game on bbn the other hand Nothing runs me the wrong way than to watch these untrained, basically ignorant firemen breaking out every window in the house and standing around doing nothing or spraying water through a window, no organization whatsoever, basically a cluster! Thank you Chief Decker and the Newark Ohio fire department for doing it right! You and departments like you work hard to represent what it means to be a Brother! To you Chief Decker and your crew and the department's like you'll Thank You, God bless you'll and keep you'll safe!

      @@markwillcox720 I can't agree more and it makes everything easier for the fire investigator. The less damage the easier to find the cause. Thats our thing here as well we don't damage more then we have to and we don't move anything in main fire room unless we have to at all to put fire out but then we put it back for investigator

    At least these guys didn’t stand around for 15 to 20 minutes trying to figure out what the hell they’re going to do. They pulled the hoses and got to it! Well done the firefighters!

    I enjoy watching Your videos Cheif Decker, I have a question, is there any pets in that house and also what made that fire escalate like that ?

  • @adelefarough5123
    @adelefarough5123 5 років тому +3

    According to the description, the fire was confined to one room. Based on that, I have a question. How habitable would the rest of the house have been afterwards? Could the occupants have gone in and stayed there? Or were they displaced?

    • @VideoFanatic02
      @VideoFanatic02 5 років тому

      Well l have heard that even if a fire is confined to one room, there is usually smoke damage throughout the structure. There was probably heat (and water) damage as well. So l am guessing that the occupants of this house had to stay at a hotel for a while. I do know a family who had a clothes dryer fire in their laundry room. While the damage to their house was minimal, they still had to stay at a hotel for a few weeks.

    • @VideoFanatic02
      @VideoFanatic02 5 років тому

      @Bill Williams Very true. Anyway, I am sure that the house is fine now since the fire happened back in 2012. :-)

      I had a friend who had fire Confined to the kitchen. He was out of the house for over 8 months. Insurance adjuster walked in wiped hand on wall found soot, stripped the house down to the studs. Insulation, drywall,everything. Said any soot means smoke damage and it is potential cancer risk, so to eliminate any future possible claims it is routine to strip the house to studs or pretty much demolish and rebuild. It wasn't a light timber gang plate building either. New construction they just knock down and replace if gangplates have been exposed to heat for over 8 minutes.

      Michael Ailer: I believe that. Fire and smoke causes so much damage, it's crazy. I feel bad for anyone who has had a fire in their home. Years ago my mom's cousin lost her house to a fire that started from faulty electric lights on a live Christmas tree. I guess the lights shorted out and set the tree on fire. Luckily they all escaped without injury, but they lost everything.

    • @michaelailer5623
      @michaelailer5623 5 років тому

      Going by memory, it was 12 years ago, it would have been habitable. At one time wash the walls, put a coat of KILZ paint (it covered things like pet odors and cigarette smoke), pulled breaker to the affected area and family could live there. Not anymore. Everything is able "potential future health problems" They have now banned the most common Fire Foam ARFFF because a certain compound might not be gotten rid of by body and might pose future issues. Exposure limit is 12 parts per TRILLION

    Mr. Decker; do you think you could do us all a favour and block JB91710? The guy is a troll and he is annoying everyone. I notice that many of us, myself included, who comment on your videos do not suffer fools gladly.

  • @JB91710
    @JB91710 6 років тому +2

    The only thing to add to my comment below, a fire in a closed structure creates pressure. When you open the front door, the pressure is released there and the heat from that room will move toward the FFers coming in. It is best to relieve that pressure by breaking the windows in the fire room which will give the heat a direct route out of the structure and the FFers can come in behind it for extinguishment.

      @Ken Turner You would be so funny if what you said wasn't so sad and immature. Now, tell me HOW my second comment contradicts my first comment. Could it be where I said, "No braking windows unnecessarily."? Didn't you understand what unnecessarily meant? You commenters are So ignorant and childish. You could NEVER best me on a fire fighting tactic if your lives depended on it because I THINK, before I type.
