We tested this a lot and in one of the tests were overdid it with blood and it's not a job we have confidence in. At some point you can't get it clean. It just makes a bigger mess. Sorry serial killers!
Thank you! My husband had a GI bleed in the middle of the night, I feel like I'm cleaning up after a crime scene. If any of your friends or family have this kind of health crisis in their household and you want to give them some support... offer to clean or help clean up the scene. It is rough cleaning up a lot of blood from someone you love.
Mary, I hope your husband is ok. Sending prayers your way. I hope you were able to get your mattress clean, it can sometimes be a big job. Best wishes.
This just worked so well for me that when I went to go back in on it the second time(in case of a ring) I couldn’t find the original marks 😆 completely gone🙏thank you from me and my 1 week old mattress.
after the treatment I use a vacuum cleaner to suck the mattress dry followed by a fan aimed at the foul spot for several hours.. Never cover a wet mattress. Wait until completely dry. No attachment on the vacuum but just the end of the hose over the gone spot. My wife had a really heavy period during the night & it looked like a murder scene but we got it all cleaned up with the ammonia & vacuum & da fan!.
I am so pleased that you used and recommended a household chemical that is very effective in removing blood stains!!! Not like one UA-camr who recommended combining Sodium Peroxide with Baking Soda and pouring it into a plastic spray bottle.☠☠ For those who didn't do chemistry in high school, those two household chemicals when added together produce the very toxic and dangerous Caustic Soda + Carbon Dioxide (a greenhouse gas) + water. This UA-camr then went on to recommend spraying this toxic mixture through the air onto the stain. Caustic Soda at full strength can dissolve your skin, fat, and tissue faster than almost all acids. This, of course, is why it is used to unblock sinks by dissolving fatty deposits in the pipes On a side note, I have seen videos and read articles by people recommending the use of Baking Soda mixed with Vinegar as a "Super" cleaning agent maybe because it froths up, etc. When mixed together what you get is Carbon Dioxide (greenhouse gas) with Sodium Acetate and water. One of the uses of Sodium Acetate is as a food seasoner, i.e. Salt and Vinegar crisps flavouring. It's sad to think of all these people cleaning whatever it is they are scrubbing away on thinking that Salt and vinegar flavouring diluted with water is going to be a wonder cleaner as claimed by the video or article creator.
I've seen a video where she poured a bit of water on a sheet with blood stain on it and dabbed hydrogen peroxide on the stain. Left it for 5 mins., then ironed the sheet for it to dry. And the stain was gone. I'm not sure if this works on matresses
I always use a mattress protector but just when I had to discard it because the plastic inner part was flaking too much and making a mess, it so happens that for the first time my periods decide to start when I wasn't expecting it and I got a small drop of blood on the mattress that came through from the bed sheet. Luckily nothing major. I googled what to do and I was told 1tbsp dish soap and 2tbsp salt and leave it on spot for 25 mins then wipe off and repeat. I'm waiting to see what happens. Initially I thought that it would be a soapy wet mess but the salt seems to cut off the suds of the dish soap which leaves for a quicker wiping off. I feel it may work as it's a process and not just a quick apply and wipe off technique. Fingers crossed. I will report back.
I tried this and got that "ring" you had mentioned. So I went back t clean the ring and it keeps spreading and making it bigger and now I'm freaking out! My mattress is less than 3 months old- it went from a nickel sized blood stain to a ring about 2 1/2 feet in diameter- do you have any other suggestions on how to keep it from spreading???
I think the best thing is to get most of the blood out the first time. When you go to get the ring, don't put too much liquid, try blotting it, take your time. Not sure if that would do it, just trying.
It wouldav been nice if u let us know what to do afterwards 😰as Im stuck and don’t know when I can next sleep on my bed, I cleaned it this morning with the ammonia solution as soon as I opened the ammonia bottle I coughed and my eyes watered (I do remember u telling us it’s toxic) but please can u tell me what I do after? how long does it take to dry? And do I need to do anything else before I can put bedsheet back on it? I’m scared my skin might react
You don't have to do anything because ammonia is a gas and it evaporates. The dry time depends on so many factors like how much you used. But it should be dry by tonight. I've put fans on to speed it up. For a small area it should be dry in an hour or two.
Yeah that's a lot of work, I hope this helps make things easier on you. Since we're all about prevention, here are 2 ideas: a waterproof mattress protector on your bed like this one we've tested and it works! cleanfreakandgermaphobe.com/mattress-protector For the sheets you could put an incontinence pad over the bottom sheet. We tested Coop's washable/reusable one and it worked so well. We tested for pee but it works for blood. Hope this helps. No shame either - your family knows that periods are normal and that almost all girls or women deal with blood stains.
It doesn't stay. Neither does vinegar smell. It evaporates quickly. The smells that stay are from using detergent with strong scents, essential oils are the worst (never put some on your mattress) but these ingredients don't leave a smell.
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe Thanks, I was wondering if the smell went away, that is a big point. Thanks, I am tackling the problem tomorrow , after you helped with the How To part.
Yes it should work. Just blot the area with a wet cloth first. Keep wringing it out with fresh water to get out as much as possible. Then let it dry and use the solution. Or treat as many times as needed to get it all out, letting it dry in between applications.
After you get the blood out - we recommend a waterproof mattress protector. ➡ Our favorite mattress protector www.twomomsreview.com/coop-mattress-protector (ad) If you need this - How to clean urine off mattress - ua-cam.com/video/bMIrhDO2ddc/v-deo.html
You don't have to move your mattress. Clean it right where it is. Open all the windows to keep fresh air circulating. But finally, don't be embarrassed. Every girl deals with these issues. Good luck.😉
Hmmmmm yeah. That is a problem. One viewer commented saying baking soda and cold water helps... we haven't tested that ourselves yet, but definitely wouldn't want you using something you are allergic to.
This is great and I'll try it but for fresh or fresher blood, using no caustic chemicals, there's the ice cube method! ua-cam.com/video/BggzwCO1idQ/v-deo.html I'm a little concerned about leaving ammonia in a mattress, or upholstery, but if the ice cube doesn't work, I'll go for this. Thanks for doing all those tests!
Did anyone else just wake up and are desperate trying to clean it off?😂
Yeah my mom is still sleeping
Yep
Yes!! My boyfriend is gonna kill me
Lol I tryna find some amonia at 5:17 am

What about when its very dry blood that the color change?
Really stressed, hope this works!
Would Windex work if you don't have pure ammonia?
Does this work on dried old blood stains?
How do u get rid of bed bug stains and bed bugs in general
Thanks guys!
I thought I would have to use hydrochloric acid but ammonia worked !!!
Thanks, young ladies :)
You are welcome. Happy to help
What do I do with the body though?
That's coming up in a future video!
Is there a different type of cloth that can be used other than microfiber cloth?
Yes. You can use any washcloths you have.

Thank you guys 💪🏽🤷🏽♂️ save my daughter and I from an argument with the boss of the house my wife 😂😂😂 thank you 🙏🏽
Does this work on coloured areas??
Will this work if the stain is a day old?
It's a nightmare for memory foam mattress 🥺 but I got it off
Blood on anything is a nightmare, but I'm glad you were able to clean up your mattress.
You have a new subscriber!
Thank you this was great
You are welcome. Thanks for watching
When my family is asleep I flip my mattress and change the sheets. I should try this in the morning when my family is not around.

Where can you get amonia????
Will the smell of ammonia stay in the mattress after cleaning?
Most likely. That stuff is horrible.

What if it’s old blood from years ago?
What about if it’s coloured?
Will this still work with blood that has already dried? Didn't realize I had bled through my sheets until way later in the day😬😭

I would never use ammonia for anything. Mind busting chemical I avoid like mosquitoes.
Or cigarettes.
The finger blood squeezing was gnarly and makes me queasy.
Maybe this isn't the video for you, lol. If there's another way to get the job done, we want to know! We've heard Windex works...
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe Live with it.
But this is fresh blood, mine is 3 months old, will it still work

us know how it goes 😃
Do yall think this would work for bleach stains i tried using bleach and it didn't really pick up it kinda just spread 😫
Don’t use Ammonia and bleach together.
thank u🥺
So happy to help😃thanks for commenting
Awesome
So, where will i disposed the body next?
but amonia stinks so bad. Thanks for the video!
It really does stink. We had windows and the door opened when we filmed this. Make sure to do the same if possible.
i hope this works for me
Let us know how it goes!
What akind of ammonia you are using?
Ammonia
I'M NOT AT HOME RIGHT NOW, HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO i- help meee!!
This will work, even if the blood has dried on. Good luck
Ok, but how do i do it secretly? (not a serial killer, just a shy indian girl)

GIVE ME SOMETHING THAT WORKS ON OLD BLOOD PLEASEEEE
Well I am such a bad babysitter anyway thank you for the review
I know I’m a clean freak!!! I can’t handle this virus and this new strain of virus 🦠 Gosh this has got to come to an end!!!

Or try hydrogen peroxide.
Welp what my mom does. She outs it in soms cold water for about a day then she just washes it.
The problem is you can't soak your mattress and some covers aren't removable.
How do you suggest people put a _mattress_ in cold water? 🙄
All you really need is some baking soda and cold water
We didn't test that but we can try it. From our experience nothing worked as well as ammonia.
Did the ice cube work?
@@RissAndCo Unfortunately not. It lifted some, but then no matter how long I rubbed, the rest wouldn't budge.
Does this work on memory foam ?
Yes it does. We tested it on a foam mattress and it works great. Since memory foam absorbs liquid, don't over saturate and dry faster.
