Just bought a 2013 2,0TDI. Im lovin it. Very comfy and quiet car. Handles great. Cant wait for tomorrows family trip :)
Did you tested ur car in offroad ?
@@Amine_ABER not really, i mean nothing extreme :) Already did 12000 km in it. Adaptive cruise control makes the trip much more comfortable. Anyways, found out that it has a high oil usage problem. According to me it uses 1l/1800km of oil ( Turbo was restored, no visual oil leakages found ). I will take it to AUDI dealer this week and will be doing a test to make it official and on paper, so i could file a complaint to a seller.

Audi's are famous for going through oil, but it was mostly a problem pre 2012.
I don't even have the money to buy a bike, let alone this car, but I'm watching these videos like I get to choose a car like this haha. But Matt's and Rebecca's reviews are always fun to watch anyway.

Can't get my head round some of the comments on here. I thought it was a fairly balanced review..hard to say bad things about a fantastic car. Why people insist on throwing the Mecan into the mix every time a q5 is mentioned is beyond me...totally different price bracket..so its not relevant. We waited for the new q3 and q7 before rushing out to buy our Q5 as I much prefer the styling of this one to the new shapes..The interior on the new Q's are cool but I still love the interior on this one. Our car is loaded and we are picking it up on Saturday...Oh and I am a keen snowboarder and see plenty of these in the Alps...the only real thing wrong with this review is some of the Standard equipment mentioned..well it isn't! Oh and re the alcantara...I had it in my Delta Integrale and loved it..It looks better in my opinion..the contrast stitching stops the blandness of the swathe of grey leather and the main seats are warmer in winter, cooler in Summer, heat up faster with heated seats and if you check the forums there are a huge amount of people that regret not getting them...It's not an upgrade or down grade..its actually a side grade if you want to be pedantic! no cost option on our S line plus...Still we are all different..

I must ask; why do cars need a space for skies? Does everyone ski or something? I don't think I even know anyone that skies... Also While I am complaining - why don't manufactures fit LEDs in other places than headlights? Like the boot for example. There are always weak halogen lights in boots, and they do shit all for allowing you to see in the dark. On an expensive car like this I would expect better. Even on a cheap car I would expect better to be fair, as LEDs are so freaking cheap!!! Am I right, or am I wrong?
DirtHoleee Good & reliable LEDs for cars are far from cheap. Regular LEDs tend to vary in brightness & some might have a slight yellow tinge (for white LED) and they may not work properly in extreme temperature. Makes sense why the only fully LED lit car is an S-Class.
DirtHoleee Why not have space for skis? And it doesn't have to be skis, any long and narrow item benefits from having the "ski hatch" in the boot.
DirtHoleee The ski hatch is useful! No everyone uses it for skiing trips - it also comes in handy when carrying other long items. As for LEDs, we expect them to become standard throughout automotive design (as well as in other parts of everyday life) within the coming years.
This car is built to fit the European countries, so to bad for you if you're not sporty enough to know what to use it for.

Great review as always mate! Its great to get so much info on the interior space and functionality. Oh and you're spot on about the steering!!! I test drove an A5 and found it hard to describe how weird the steering felt. You've summed my thoughts up perfectly.

To be fair they beat them at being serviced and total shop time, so +1 for landrover i guess if you dont actually like driving the vehicle you pay for

Meh. Audi A3 owner here. Wanted an SUV. Ended up going with a Skoda Kodiaq. Just Brilliant.

The US model has a 40/20/40 seating configuration for the rear.
Just as an FYI, the Q5's selling today include a 40/20/40 split rear seat, so you can now do the ski load-through.
Good review Mat, nice to see one on a car I actually own :). I think you will find the bag in the boot is to store the roof bars in ;-). I have the same model (S Line Plus), but with the 2.0 litre diesel, and with the standard suspension on the 20" wheels the ride is great. Fine Nappa Leather is standard, but the leather & Alcantara mix is a no cost option.
You forgot to tell about road/wind/engine noises... Especially petrol vs diesel

I live in Canada and I wend to the dealer yesterday and I they told me the Audi Q5 2016 is releasing in August of this year. But when I check on Google about info on 2016 Audi q5 all I get is rumors of a new facelift. Can someone clarify this for me. Are the 2016 models the same as 2015?
Will there be a problem with the power in 2.0 litre engine during overtake with 5 adults and fully loaded boot... ?
I got the 2.0 litre diesel . this is fine too . no complaints . diesel engine roars while overtaking which is my favourite sound and has enough power at fully loaded condition for my Indian roads.
Long items like Skis, 2x4 woods, tent, anything long it’s just called a ski-hatch. Maybe someone bought a desk that’s not assembled yet and the legs can go through them.

What was exactly the point of making this review on the facelifted Q5 since there seem to be no striking differences from the original one? And this came a couple of years after the facelift???

ar43r with the facelift they changed S Line models to have standard suspension, instead of sports suspension previously. There is a Variable Damper Control option
By the looks of the Tyre marks on the tarmac at the beginning, this one can do donuts...... seen enough....

Mat, you've spent a minute and a half talking about the boot of this car. Previously you've managed to a review a whole Mazda 3 in the same timeframe.
I was just thinking that a new top gear with Chris Harris, Mat Watson and somebody else I still have to think of might actually work well.
The last shot where Mat stands on front of the Q5 makes me think it looks like the BMW X3..
How many people in Britain and Ireland will be able to afford one of these? Is Carbuyer going the same route of Top Gear and showcasing what we can't afford?
GaffStraid Tens of thousands of people buy high-value cars each year. Within twelve months, the facelifted Q7 will be for sale nearly-new with significant discounts. In three year's time, it will be a strong second-hand choice.
Fair enough, but tens of thousands of UK people do not buy high-value cars each year, a relatively few do (10-20%, probably lower), the majority take them on PCP or other arrangement and this is paid by their employer / company.
The reality is that very few UK people on average income could risk buying a nearly new or second hand (3 year old) version.
BTW, you mentioned Q7, did you mean Q5?

A BMW X3 (and X5/6) is useless in winter conditions, a Audi Q5 is brilliant
I've had an X3 and it was fantastic in winter conditions, but then again I know how to drive since I'm not British.
After the license plate and accent, I don't know why my brain still got confused when he hopped into the drivers seat and it was "on the wrong side" lol
I purchased this car brand new and for the past two years I have had gearbox and transmission problem. I have 64,000 miles and was quaranteed 100,000 at time of purchase. Audi has not resolved this problem. Where do I go from here.

Sunny Kanwar They complain about mileage of the gasoline-engine ("about same as the space shuttle"), weird steering, uber-firm suspension on the sport model, infotainment system ("not as good as iDrive"), no foldable center-seat, more expensive than competition.... Did you even watch the video?
Sunny Kanwar The review isn't paid - anything paid is clearly marked as "sponsored"! This Q5 has had a facelift and minor design tweaks. It has its weaknesses, but is overall a strong car.
Zereniti77 I did but the whole tone seemed to move towards reviewing something very old in the market and there should have been a mention of the fact that this model is due for a major re haul - just like the new q7 .. thats the thing m pointing at ..

tavi921 No. Hill descent control is for going down a super steep rocky hill somewhere in the back country. This is a very hard thing to do manually. I think it was Land Rover that invented it years ago and it and other such programs have shown up on other 4WD vehicles since.

Can´t understand the appeal of these SUV´s. This one is hideous. but as a former Audi owner, interior finish of the cars is simply flawless.

Really now, how can you say that this is a good looking car? Is sooooo boring to look at, is that typical Audi boringness. The quality is probably very good, too bad it is delivered in a package that looks at least 10 years old.

A cheap re- hash of an old model. Stick in a new dash and grille and ask a fortune for all the options required to bring it up to a spec that other manufacturers have as standard for less money. It looks dated before it even hits the road. Audi have shot the biggest bullet they could find into their own foot with this 'new' dated model.

dipro001 that's nonsense. the Q5 price range is something like 40-65k, whereas Macan price range is 60-85k+. For Macan price you can get well equipped Q7.
