Ladies & Gentlemen, please DON’T DO THIS. Not only would your clothes not come out clean, you WILL damage your washer. Even these old direct drives weren’t designed for this. It puts a tremendous strain on the machine.
@@MatthewJames-st5wv My sentiments exactly! I am cringing… I just bought my rebuilt transmission from the company you recommended. Having replaced my old one, I can only imagine what the transmission in this guy’s machine is going through. LOL
@@MatthewJames-st5wv Did it really? That’s not good. How did it perform for you? Yeah, the rebuilt tranny I bought has issues. Right out of the box. I replaced the timer then threw the old transmission back in and VIOLA! Good as new. Did you send your rebuilt transmission back?
That is way too heavy of a load on that agitator, which will work the gears harder and they'll wear out sooner. You fill clothes up loosely to the top of the basket WITHOUT shoving them down.
Barely any detergent and too much water in fabric softener dispenser comes out of it. Total waste clothes are not moving at all!!! Some people should not wash clothes.
I have found you can actually go slighty higher with the water in the farbic softner. At about 3/4 visible full it will leak as it overflows the internal 'baffle' in the dispenser, otherwise it dispenses well during the first spin...the thinner the better for flow. Most people i know do not add any water and then wonder why thier dispenser clogs and grows stuff inside it that could be classified as a whole new species.
it is a real maytag 1996 model made in the old Maytag factory in Newton, Ia...very well constructed with metal inner and outer tubs...i hooked it up to a garden hose and it works flawlessly..all i could find wrong was the water level needed to be adjusted (it was only filling halfway) and the belts will need to be changed eventually...this machine will last for many more decades.
TheFlyingScottsman i need another washer my 2005 ish dependable care is worn out needs new tranmisson basket drive and drive block ttanny leaks mames a clunk when going into spin break only works half the time i been doing luttle patch jobs on it to keep it going till i get a new washer gojng to cost around 600 to fix ive had to repair guys look at it say its trash not woth fixing.
I wasn't really expecting it to survive, i was testing to see if the motor coupler and transmission were going to hold out for any length of time..if you read the intro you will see i found this machine at the dump and had no real idea as to it's operational status.
BroccoliBeefed I'm pretty sure the description said that he doesn't do this Normally but just wanted to try it out. 1 wash won't kill the machine. Also he isn't mixing cement with the machine all the time.
I bought this washer at the junkyard for 16 bucks, all it was was the timer wasn't working, that was an easy fix, Cleans clothes really good.
Great post.. these are the last generation of dependable washers that uses water to wash clothes thoroughly.
Wow direct drives rock
Yup
Yes they do!
Ouch that transmission definitely got a workout that wash
Hell yeah, it did. Everything else did too.
If it was one of those newer modern washers, the gearcase would’ve been gone with that wash
Without a doubt!
I like to buy that washer from you! This crap out now just doesnt cut it! Great vid!
That washer rocks keep it forever

I hope you can film a video of your Maytag Dependable Care washer.
Try doing that with today's belt drive kenmore agitator washer and you'll get an error code for sure
It will completely break and fail the washer. A fairly sized load of towels, let alone a 3x cap load, makes it struggle to agitate and you can tell.
Transmission feels it…
The oil that leaks, is actually tears.
Great machine
Why not do separate loads??
-Charles-
Does this washer still work after this?
It works flawlessly
I like it
Why would you want to wreck your washer like that?
'Cuz he can.
Try doing that with any junk modern agitator washer and you can kiss the gearcase and motor goodbye
Why do people overload?! The laundry goes in dirty & dry & comes out wet & dry!
HE machines never turn clothes over.
Try that in an HE Washer
To much clothes in the machine, they will mot get clean.
That's the whole point of the vid it's a test whether it'll clean or not
Ya need way more detergent than that and rinse that cup out!!
Cool
The fact that it actually works really proves that HE washers are crap
S
Only the best no going wrong
Umm. Why?
For fun

I found another salvaged machine the other day (maytag depedable care) and will likely repeat the same test i did on this one...

That would be a nice test see how the maytag dependable care handles that giant load. To bad it wasn't a real 100% Maytag

Why would you put that many clothes in a washer and expect CLEAN AND RINSED CLOTHES??????

Oh now I understand if you try the test on any one of the new machines with the plastic gears it would've died after two minutes stripped
Do you know how valuable washers like this are, that are in good working condition? Obviously you don't...And here you are fucking it up.. :/
Fddd
I’m sorry but this is just such a stupid idea
Boring
What a doofus. You like destroying your clothes and your machine??

you're freaking to lazy to seperate the loads, whites and colors omg thats a no no
As long as it’s cold water there is no problem with washing colors with whites.
