- We finally get to make our first passes on the nova! Starting out on very low boost and timing we shake the nova down and see if everything is working the way it should be!

If you want to get a good plug reading, you really need to shut it off at the finish line and push it back. When you idle back to the pits you're reading idle timing and fueling. Great to see you out there 👍
Agreed. At least pull a random plug on the return road and swap it with a new one. Drive back k to the pits and read the plug.
Yeah you’re borderline wasting your time reading them after driving it back with all that idle/low power time on it
They've been racing for many years now I'm pretty sure they know what there doing. This isn't there first Rodeo. In a way that's about like trying to tell Ryan Martin to push his car back so he can get a better reading on his plugs when they both have won many races.

@@matthewvarnam4302 Matt, that is a silly assumption that they know and use that trick.If they did, great, no harm done, if they didn't, well now they can use it if they want. In fact , I've never seen them do it on any video. . If you race, and you tune power adder engines, like I do, especially running alcohol and nitrous, it can never hurt to pass on any tricks and tips you have often learned the hard way by blowing sh*t up. When you are trying out a new combination, especially with a power adder,, nitrous, supercharger, turbo or twin turbos, you have a tremendous amount of data to process and decisions to make. Do you recommend swappping a random plug on your alcohol drag car at the end of the track so you don't change the burn on the plug idling back to the pits. Do you use an ottoscope to read plugs on alcohol? I'd be interested in any information and tricks you may have learned racing. Passing on tips and information and helping other racers succeed is a part of what makes SRC such an enjoyable channel. Shoot me a message if you are ever up in the northeast. We can set up a little grudge race and share some tips. Maybe you can help us go a little faster. God Bless and have a great evening.

@5:51 Billy I can see that yoke from the driveshaft spinning. I recommend getting a driveshaft tunnel installed for safety reasons. You don't want to be slanging some serious RPMs and God forbid that yoke break with nothing to protect you bro! Other than that great ride and nice build for sure. I love to track the journey of this build. This is a marathon not a sprint so everything will continue to build upon the foundation you've laid down.

I have followed you all since the very very first video, back when it all began. This Nova I've been waiting to see for a long time and it's gonna be worth the wait. I have no doubt that this Nova is gonna be a game changer 100%. For everyone. And I'm gonna say this: the other no prep racers out there,no matter what,you all do an awesome job. You all have awesome cars, but Billy's Nova is and will be a force to be reckoned. with. 100% and I ain't even seen it in action yet. But I will!
Congrats. We've seen a 540 on twins with an almost 4k lb vehicle run 6.99 at 209 so far in the quarter with Garrett so we know what this thing is capable of
So, I'll say it again Billy-----your abilities at your young age are very impressive !! To build a car from scratch and have it do what it did "right out of the box" so to speak, is a testimonial to your talents. Give it hell this weekend, we'll be watching !!

Wow- those were some damn good first pulls at the track. If everything is linear 12 psi of boost equals roughly 136 mph I really want to see 30 psi. That is one sweet ride and some damn good tuning Billy. You should be extremely proud.

It’s so strange that I’ve never been a drag racer (but simply enjoy all racing), but…. How I can relate to earning absolutely everything I have, and how I can relate with doing anything for my 2 boys (men). Your story is what I was believe in. I had a tear seeing that first fun, and I think it’s was because I’m soooo incredibly proud when seeing my boys accomplish what you have in your life. You’re amazing! Don’t forget that!

There's a reason there's a saying "like father like son" or "the nut doesn't fall far from the tree". Some of these old time street racers NEED to write a book of ALL their stories or a collection of different racers and their stories. That would be AWESOME.
