I have seen them many times. I live in Iceland. You nailed the colors at first. Not the red. That's very off. If you are ever in Iceland, look me up. This tutorial was extremely useful. Thank you!
u could make the fractal a 2d map (u would have to tweak a bit) and then throw it on a 3d plane that u animated like northern lights in ur 3d software, gives u a bit more control
Excellent, but in the end the black background failed to screen-out on my main comp. Will try again tomorrow. Update: I didn't have any layers between the trails and background.
Hey this is a great and beautiful effect. However when I implemented, it put a huge strain on my pc’s capabilities to render my program. My pc would get hot and rendering would take forever. Have you had this?
Hello there! It's really cool! =) Currently I'm at the end of the tutorial. Downloaded the Perfect Glow at the website. Put it in the presets map. But a message comes up in After Effects: "After Effects error: Can't import file "Perfect Glow V2.ffx": unsupported filetype or extension. ( 0 :: 1 )" What should I do? I have Mac, but that shouldn't make any difference, right? I would be very thankful for answer.
nice tutorial, though sadly it didn't work for me... For some reason whenever I did the whole radical blur thing and put the centre down, it wouldn't create the same height that your lights got. Increasing the amount did nothing either, everything past 40 or more would lead to nothing... I did everything you said in the tutorial, but my northern lights is just a simple line with only a slight height and blur to it. I don't know if I am just doing something wrong, or if it just doesn't wanna work for me...
@@ShonenBeats For some background information: I tried 10 times before placing the comment. I had checked everything from composition settings to effects settings. I had done everything the same as the tutorial, yet my lights still failed to have a decent height that you could see. I ended up having to create up to 15 copies of the precomposition to finally be able to have the effect.
i'm stuck in this tutorial, @ 8 min 02 you pre-compose BG and Fractal 3d to Fractal 3d comp, after that you get this FX 4 color gradient set up in the upper left, i dont see this and cant go on with the tutorial, can u please help this noob to go on? i followd all the instructions several times, but dont get it, please please, help me!!
I'm following the tutorial step by step but when I get to adding the radial blur effect nothing I do makes it look like how yours is. I did what you were doing literally same numbers, masks, and everything. I'm not sure what's going on.
Your actual result is 100x better than that shitty stock photo. Put your RESULT as the thumbnail my guy, or a side-by-side. It'd be a real eye grabber.
I love your tutorials man its really awesome.
I love you too
i know Im kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online?

You're very knowledgeable but you're tutorial is not the best because you way too fast! If you really want people to learn slow down please.
Agreed he's needs to slow down a bit, and use zoom or text to show what he's typing.
