In this video we fly fish Chile's Huemules River between Coyhaique and the Balmaceda airport. An incredible, diverse river, it teems with brown trout. We enjoy incredible dry fly fishing by casting beetle patterns to likely water. We're fishing follow-up this day and get heaps of soft eats and refusals but there are simply so many trout that it simply doesn't matter... keep casting!

Jensen is ice cold when he strikes. Not even exaggerating when I say he's the best ive seen all around.
Well I try to keep things tight and within myself and it goes fairly well when I do. 🍻
@@jensenflyfishing right on! huge fan keep up the great content and thank you!
Mr. Jensen, did I notice well you're as well right handed as left handed casting? Nice.
You did. It's something I did 25 years ago... spent an entire summer only allowing myself to cast left hand. It took some time but it's essentially equal now. 😊🍻
You guys have single handedly helped me understand that Patagonia must be one place tk get out to and fish.
It's a beautiful region. I think we'd point more to the eastern regions and into Argentina to avoid the coastal rain and often skinny fish in the large rivers about the coast. The Andean chain is beautiful. Check out Tecka Lodge as their estancia is incredible 😊
Great video. Really nice Browns. Really liked your slow motion shots. Thanks.
They're really neat to film. Take a heap to get the rod and camera working together but so much fun :)
The high-definition slo-mo at 00:59 is speechless!
fun to be there to film! :)
spectacular fishing with many shots of the beauty of nature with her spicy bites (wind, ....)
it's a gorgeous river with all kinds of unique natural beauty and intrigue! :)
Wieder tolle Bilder, Tight Lines! 👌👏👏👏👏👍
:) glad you enjoyed this one!
You both did such a great job on this video. I know a lot went into it so you should feel good about it. I love the music too 👍🏼
It does have a heap of work and while the UA-cam algorithm certainly wasn't terribly kind to it, we think the video was kind to those that found and watched it. Glad you enjoyed it! :) Dave www.jensenflyfishing.com
Great work as always folks. Love the shots of the local wildlife and fauna. Spectacular! Ps. The Bow is fishing extremely well stripping and noodling peacock leeches. A few Caddis and PMD snouts to be found as well. Police too Mac. You better come have a look.
Thank you - and yes, we've heard. We had a few projects we had to complete elsewhere but we're going to spend a few days on the Bow here the coming weeks. Weather change looks great!
Another amazing video and place to fish for sure! Some nice browns caught. They both make it look so easy 😂. I need to start smacking some beetles eh!! Thanks as always Dave and Amelia for the amazing videography and scenery! The birds are a plus. That Kingfisher eating that small trout was awesome close up. What’s next for you guys Audubon. You guys Always impress!! Stay safe!
If you ever get to the Coyhaique region, the Huemules is literally a few miles north of the Balmaceda airport where you fly into. It's a great river :) Honestly, I think anyone could clean up on this river - likely catch 5x as many as we did because we're only really looking for the neat camera fish. The hardest part of our time in Chile was finding the great fish to film and represent it well. And when I say "hard"... well... that meant foregoing fishing to focus on the fish that would show well on camera :) Otherwise it was just fish after fish most days. Glad you enjoy this stuff. Our next chapter in all this will actually begin in October as we focus more on multi-day adventures in our video to show more natural beauty and the most interesting fishing. Soon!
@@jensenflyfishing I am hoping to get into that area here within the next few years. Final retirement in the next 3 years and I am not working another day I hope anyway. I look forward to getting to some of these amazing places you guys get to fish. Would love to join you guys here soon as well. It’s all winding down for sure! I’ve always been a fan of nature and now with the fly fishing it seems it all came full circle for me thanks to you guys and your travels and videos! Absolutely a blessing! As always thanks for your responses and straight forward approach to everything! Stay safe and look forward to the next videos and instruction!
@@Riverbugger Love the term "final retirement"! :) Well, good to hear that we're part of your fly fishing world and a small part of helping get you out. Lots of great waters in your area, our area... Chile, New Zealand.... just need 3 life times to take 'em all on :)
Wow! You have done it again. How full and deep with substance. You guys really know how to do this. Really love the spirit of the music at 11:44 and the visuals. Where can I find that music?
Chris
Thank you - this was a gorgeous river to fish and a heap of fun :) We edited this a while ago and can't recall the name of the music, sorry.
Have you got recommendations for outfitters/guides on the Huemules River?
This was all through Magic Waters Patagonia Lodge but we'd recommend Fat Trout Outfitters as Guillermo was our guide for a lot ofnour time there 😊🍻
Could fish this stream for days
Oh, hell yeah. And there is a ton of it. :)
Hi, the name of the river is…? Thanks, beautiful video, all !
