As someone who grew up in Orange County beach cities -- it still ghasts my flabber to see the costs of homes in Orange County. My parents still live there and they are 4 miles from the ocean but in a very very modest, small, cookie cutter tract home from 1973! Homes in their neighborhood are selling for 1 million + which is insane for the tiny homes they are -- and that's with little to no updates or renovations! Crazy!
If you live somewhere that has rural areas, you can buy a home with 0% using a usda loan. My husband and I did that and even had the sellers pay the closing cost. When we closed, we actually got $1000 back due to this. Buying a "rural" home doesn't mean you're far away from everything. We're five minutes from a commercial area and 15 from one of the biggest cities in the area. We also are 10 minutes from the bay in our area, and 50 minutes from the beach. Literally, if we had purchased 5 minutes away, we couldn't have gotten the loan we got. There is a usda map you can look at for whatever area you live in to get a better idea.
Great Content a lot of useful information. One thing, the $700,00 house has a nice kitchen. I don't get why some people are constantly destroying perfectly functional kitchens. House décor trends are a bit too much. Imagen trying to keep up with trends every 5 years or less and renovating your home to keep up with trends, SO not eco friendly or financially smart IMO
I agree with you!! an easy solution is to paint and change the hardware. Very easy fix for cheap, and keeps up with the trends. If the woodwork and hinges are still good, don't change it! :)
I feel sorry for young people today. I bought my first house 29 years ago in Nor Cal. It was 1,200 sq ft for $119k. That house is now $475k. I sold it at $250k and bought a bigger house for cash..
I love content like this - I feel it still aligns with cooking (gotta have a kitchen to cook, right), but I love this and I’m sure it’s helpful to those who don’t understand the basics of purchasing a home 💕
I have met a few people in my day (personal friends and folks work with) that moved from California due to the expense. I SEE now why! And yes...love the new content and how it relates to cooking. If you are a cook or foodie then the kitchen is ultra important. For me in buying a house that was the first place I looked at.
OMG, the prices of houses out there are CRAZY!! I'd take that money and just travel abroad first class for the rest of my life living on luxury cruises and such. :) As far as the 3% down, I think if you're in a starter home situation vs a forever home, then that's a waste of money.
Love this new content and it feels like we get to see more of your many varied interests! I made a switch from being in the wine industry for 9 years and I must admit it was from burnout. One thing is for sure, trying new things, discovering old hobbies you enjoyed and all around doing something different is the best after burnout!
I am here always here for your cooking videos but I have been really really loving your new content. It's been very exciting to see what you're going to post next.
Thank you so so much for allowing me to evolve and grow as a channel! I’m glad you enjoy the variety of content and don’t feel like it only has to be cooking or food all the time! Excited to put out more fun videos for you soon! 💗💗
Im looking to buy in orange county. I would love to work with that real estate agent. Just sold my home in Los Angeles and need to buy closer to work. Great video!
This was an interesting watch! Im wondering what kind of income people have that can afford these houses, and what they do for a living to afford this. Since im still a student, i don‘t know much about real estate and the like :)
I love real estate content! On Sundays, a local channel here in San Antonio shows virtual tours of homes in the area. It's super entertaining to watch Also, I'm now 100% sure I will never ever move to California with those prices lol.
This was very enjoyable. It seems like yard space and privacy aren’t that important in California planning for homes. To me it’s overpriced. You don’t get much house for your money or yard space. I guess it depends what’s important to you and your lifestyle. The beach views are beautiful though. I was wondering about energy costs with those really high ceilings. I like the mid priced home. Stairs can be dangerous. I don’t think these homes are good for elderly and they don’t look handicap accessible.
Omg I love looking at houses. We just moved in November ( day before Thanksgiving) but I still like looking at listings. This video was fun for me. I am so baffled at the prices of houses there. You get such a small area for $700,000. In Minnesota you get a decent house on acreage for that. However, we have snow and you have beaches🤣 so there's that...🤷
Absolutely love the new videos. Every cooking channel otherwise seems to be the same cookie cutter extremely bright kitchen and repetitive shots/angles.
Not 911 😭 lol Honestly I feel really defeated about being able to survive as gen z. Just feels like any and all help previous generations had has been totally gutted. Just hoping not to be broke. 😆
I think it’s interesting content and I enjoyed making this video so hope you’ll continue to tune in to whatever video we put out. It’s meant to entertain!
You know what I was thinking, Dzung? You should have reached out to the Property Brothers and gotten them to renovate your home (play up the Vietnamese as Drew is married to a Vietnamese woman). Also, the home that KKandBabyJ live in out in Orlando is beautiful and I highly doubt it's anywhere near the prices of the houses in Cali...Khoa is a total sweetie and in real estate, too.
Cooking was and is still a passion, but I got extremely burnt out with those same videos I’ve been doing for 10 years, and wanted to explore other interests. Like most people, I have multiple interests so this channel will be merging food and life. I hope you’ll continue to follow along to see my journey in life (food and the likes) but if not, I wish you well and thanks for your support of my old content. 😊
Thanks for your reply! Of course it’s okay to do that. I was just a bit confused when I saw your last videos 😂 As long as you’re happy, I’m happy :) and maybe one day we‘ll see some cooking content again! Good luck!
Love your cooking content, it is always inspiring me to try new meals. The overnight oats was one of the first videos I watched, and have been watching ever since. Im a bit disappointed that you are copying Worth It with this one though, especially since there is likely a large overlap in both Worth It (ATE's) channel and yours being food channels. It feels unoriginal and the script is almost plagiarized: "three houses at three very [drastically] different prices...". I rarely write comments on videos, but just wanted to put my feelings out there since I was pretty disappointed watching this one. Also, and this is my 2 cents, I am by no means an economics expert, but if you can only put 3% down on a house, its probably better to look at cheaper houses. If you put 3% down on a 700k house, your monthly payment on a 30-year fixed is 4,558 today (not including PMI, HOA, property tax, etc)..... You would pay more in monthly payments than your down payment in just 5 months..... Good knowledge to have, but highly unadvisable in practice. I would be drowning if I had that kind of monthly payment looming over my head.
I'm celebrating a $30k stock portfolio today. I started this journey with $4000 have invested on time and also with the right tearn now I have time for my family and the life ahead of me

I'm loving the new content on this channel. The vlog style vidoes around southern cali are so great
😘

She is not doing cooking videos anymore.
I love your new videos! I've been a long-time subscriber and these new videos are so fun. Still love your OG recipe videos too!
Thank you so much!! I love branching out but the old recipe videos are still there! I also post new recipes / tutorials daily on my IG: @honeysuckle
oooo I’ve been looking forward to this one since you first hinted it on your second channel!

If you are a cook or foodie then the kitchen is ultra important. For me in buying a house that was the first place I looked at.
If I wouldn’t have known the prices I still would have gone with the cheapest. I liked the outdoor space.

crying at the "cheap" house being 700k and i can barely afford it lol

Thank for recognizing and for allowing me to grow as a creator! 😊
I enjoyed this video, it was nice seeing the different houses! My fav was #2
Corona Del Mar has such cute houses! And it's so close to the beach and to CDM village! Great Choice, Ivana!
terrific content! you should get a lot of attention with this.

what would you like to see? let us know! :)
@@honeysuckle Thank you and you are most welcome! ❤️
More videos like this please!
What kind of houses would you like to see? 🙌🏼
Some unique houses! I’m from Canada so it’s interesting to see how different the houses are in the states.
Great video...I actually like the first one a lot. The third one has beautiful views but isn't very nicely designed. The agent is great!
Ok the 3% down and waved PMI though! Thanks for that tip!!!
I had no idea too! some interesting options out there to learn about!
I believe some lenders won't lend unless you have it.
What can you find me for...(looks in wallet)...7 dollars?
Im looking to buy in orange county. I would love to work with that real estate agent. Just sold my home in Los Angeles and need to buy closer to work. Great video!
Contact Michael! His info is in the description box.
This was an interesting watch! Im wondering what kind of income people have that can afford these houses, and what they do for a living to afford this. Since im still a student, i don‘t know much about real estate and the like :)
Check out my friend youtube.com/@itsrosehan channel! She talks a lot about personal finance and how you could get there
I too wonder what TYPE of jobs these people have.
US house prices are insane ..
The background music was a little disturbing, I thought I heard a woman singing (unpleasantly) :(
I hear it now - it's like a Wurlitzer or guitar in the music track. haunting!
Are you ever going to do cooking videos anymore??
I do on my Instagram!
I love real estate content! On Sundays, a local channel here in San Antonio shows virtual tours of homes in the area. It's super entertaining to watch Also, I'm now 100% sure I will never ever move to California with those prices lol.
I really enjoy watching home tours too and thankful for this opportunity to share with you guys! The prices here are definitely crazy though 😅

hahaha. we have some more "manageable" prices too :)
I live in the OC ! I hope I bump into you one day lol

Glad you enjoyed it!

Insurance: exists
can you please let me know where is the 700K home in NPB. I want to buy that one.
For the second home way over price
you're actually right about that! they just dropped the price. :)
Absolutely love the new videos. Every cooking channel otherwise seems to be the same cookie cutter extremely bright kitchen and repetitive shots/angles.
Thank you for your feedback! Definitely trying to be a little different and bring more variety to the channel! I’m so happy you love it 🥰
All the best, but this isn’t why I’ve been subbed for 5 years
Then best to you
I’m curious to know if you watched every single video I put out for the past 5 years?
Like we dint know the differences
Not 911 😭 lol
Honestly I feel really defeated about being able to survive as gen z. Just feels like any and all help previous generations had has been totally gutted. Just hoping not to be broke. 😆
why does California gotta be so expensive man 😭
Pretty, please take your time. 😇 Choose, wisely???
i miss the old content
I’m live so close to orange county, and my mom is a realtor so surprising as a thirteen year old girl , understood everything ahahaha
That’s amazing! Such good knowledge to have at a young age. Wish I knew more tbh!
that's amazing!! it's all great information to know no matter what age! :) good on you!
Feel like so many UA-camrs make this kind of real estate content :( Not interested personally bc I would never pay that much for a home.
So many? Who else gets detailed about 3 houses in one video?
@@honeysuckle Erik Conover, Graham Stephan, Monica Church, etc

Haha not at all… but maybe one day if we stay in the area 😊
Coasta meisa
lol is 100% not a yard. that's a patch of fake grass.
Too small.. don't think it a good price...2 beds only... should consider single family homes
Some town home has 4 beds should go for those

The wild honeysuckle channel will have the content you’re looking for
