I haven’t watched this show in quite sometime and it makes me happy to see people still appreciate the hard work that came from everyone involved in the organization. This was a difficult but fun show to learn and perform and a fun summer throughout. And thank you for the cool compliment. I think we’re pretty neat as well. 😊 Ryan N. Cavalier Euphonium-‘10
Hi Courtney you honestly touched me with this video because this is my absolute favorite Cavaliers show. It pretty much talks about the inside of a person's mind generally the mind of someone that serves in the military. The voiceovers that you hear in the entirety of the video is the voice of a drill sergeant giving the command to stand at attention with the soldier's rifle in hand. The chant that you hear from the band is known as the Rifleman's Creed which is the saying used in the Marine Corps. Once again amazing reaction video as always and I hope you have a great rest of your day.
It would not be an impossible task. Amounts of ten or twenty dollars per viewer is not out of the realm of reality...someone to act as a tour guide...to assist at the site ..to take her to individuals competition and drill and sectional practices and to the finals show with her...this would be a way to say thank you to this lady that is nothing but positive in comments any truly is enamored of this activity....I would be happy to contribute if a collection is formed..michael😁
Courtney, once again another awesome reaction video. It’s great to see someone who is not a band/drum corps “insider” appreciate the activity. Although, I think it’s safe to say that you are quickly becoming part of the family. I actually have a friend that was in that edition of The Cavaliers as well as the following year in the tuba section. Also, to answer the question that you’ve posed in a couple of your reactions about the term “band nerd” or “band geek” it stems from a bygone era when band was nowhere near as physically demanding and often was a place where you would find people that were not at all athletic. Now, it’s fairly commonplace to find students that are in band as well as multiple sports. Historically, in a school environment, it’s also common (unfortunately), for band to be viewed as a sideshow for athletic events, even though it clearly has more than enough merits for it to exist for its own sake. On a somewhat more positive note, another source for the term is that statistically, band members have a tendency to be academically high achieving. Band students have higher rates of participation in honors and advanced placement classes, higher grade point averages, higher standardized test scores, higher college admission and graduation rates, and the list goes on.
So many studies have shown how music education improves cognitive ability and crosses over into math, language, science and even history. Yet I'm always dumbfounded how some schools and districts disregard their music programs. If every student had even one required music class, I believe the education system as a whole would improve.
The reason I think kids in band are labeled as band geeks is because they form thier own family over the course of 7 or 8 years starting at 5th or 6th grade (depending on school systems). This year is obviously different due to covid but usually band kids don't get much of a break during the summer before band camp starts. Long hot hours outdoors so tons of bonding opportunities. Nobody else will laugh at the time the lead trumpet player mixed ketchup into the drum majors water jug or when cocky snare drummer took a nose dive into a shallow ditch while moving to the next station during warm ups at semi-state....ect.
You may not know, but you’ve done a lot of good for our community. Our activity was cut short this summer due to COVID-19, resulting in the first summer without DCI since before it was founded in 1972. Your videos are being shared in many of our largest Facebook community groups. Members, alumni, and fans are thrilled they have an opportunity to watch someone enjoy what we all love so much. So thanks for the love and I’m so glad you enjoy it. -- Reid (Alumni - Spirit of Atlanta 2015 / The Cavaliers 2016,17 / Carolina Crown 2018,19)

As a FMM--Cavaliers ('77-'87--Tuba/Contrabass), I really appreciate the love you give us as performers Courtney. Drum Corps International (Marching Music's Major League) P.S. Thanks for the love.
First off Courtney I want to tell you how amazing it is not just that you are reacting to Drum and Bugle Corp, your reactions are the same reactions that all of us who were privileged enough to compete in the event (I am a very proud member of The Cavaliers whom you have reacted to twice) had when we first saw drum corp and the reason that once you see it, 99.9% of the time you are hooked. I was a member of The Cavalier color guard and dancing, spinning flags rifles and Sabre’s all while moving around the field was hard as you say but with so much practice, your muscle memory takes over and we could just work on performing . I will leave you a list of some of the great shows you have not reacted to as of yet 1. The Cavaliers 1992, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006. All 1st place world championship performances.....2003 and 2008 are well thought of throughout the activity as the best shows that did not win coming in 2nd. 2. If you get a chance could you watch Kidsgrove Scouts from DCA 2010, 2012 or 2015. Drum corps from the UK. We went over to the US first in 2010 to celebrate our 100th year in existence. The crowds and other corps were so nice to us and we had an absolute blast that we have been twice since and were hoping to go this year too but obviously cancelled. DCA is different than DCI in that it is "open age". We have members from 6 years old to 65 years old who all compete as a unit and it's like one massive 100 person family.
I think the band geek stereotype persists bc most Americans are very ignorant of the insane work that it takes to produce a professional quality product in music and the arts in general. They just don't get it. 😁 As a Marine vet I got emotional during the rifleman's creed bits during the show. Really felt appreciated that year. I just had to write the corps to say thanks. They wrote me back! That was exciting 😀
I love your reactions. Please react to US Soldiers Coming home. There are so many videos out there and they are very touching. I know you'll like them.
Can you please react to some wgi colorguard shows! They’re super awesome and interesting and I think you’d really like it! I recommend reacting to either etude 2019-“the bloom may be brief” or pride of Cincinnati 2012-“preaching to the choir”
Would you react to Desmond Doss he is a Medal Of Honor winner who served in the US ARMY as a Combat Medic he single handedly saved about 75 American Soldiers without carrying a weapon he was a conscientious objector and his beliefs did not allow him to carry a weapon Thank You
I'm glad you like tha Cavaliers. They are an all male corps. Just like the Madison scouts were until resent yrs. There was another all male corps. The kilts. And there's a story there. Story is when you are a kilt rookie you can't wear under wear and are asked if you are a rookie you have to lift up your kilt and show what lies beneath. Except the rifle line. And if you watch kilts 1977. You'll see why. I've text you before and said I was a trooper 1975 through 1977. But if you watch 1974. You'll see all the rifle line maneuvers that made our rifle line famous. The same we did when I was in. I think you will really love suicide. Rifles in a circle with drum major in the middle and we throw our rifles to our partners. Whizzing past the dm head. Also duck and swing. You watch you'll see. And our famous sunburst. Anyway. I love you and your excitement for drum corps. I'd love to just talk to you about It. Tell you all I know. And I remember you saying for one show that we all seem to love it. Yes we do. If you dont you dont do it. Its months and months of practice and we practice from 9 AM till 9 PM. At home and a lot af the times our parents fell asleep waiting for practice to be over. Sometimes 11. Or 12. That's just at home. Anyway I'd love to talk about it. Facebook me if you can or tell me how to talk to you.
I’m a straight band kid who did DCI and I agree. Marching is so cool especially DCI and WGI but pop culture’s “band geeks” or “band kid” is the weird kid that was in band and was kinda cringey or odd. So sad, DCI could be so popular if it wasn’t so expensive and was seen by so many
I'M SO HAPPY SHE FINALLY CALLED THEM RIFLES

This was the show that got me interested in drum corps when I was in my high school band back in 2010. It is still my favorite show to this day.

As a Marine vet I got emotional during the rifleman's creed bits during the show. Really felt appreciated that year. I just had to write the corps to say thanks. They wrote me back! That was exciting 😀
Boom Shaka Laka Laka
I love your reactions. Please react to US Soldiers Coming home. There are so many videos out there and they are very touching. I know you'll like them.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me Teresa!! I greatly appreciate you and am glad you enjoy the content :)
You should do a Indy car crash Reaction

Wes Wiseman My bad brother. She reacted to BD 2017 and 2014. I swore she did 2019. My apologies.
Thank you for the recommendation Wes! I will look into this video more :)
Courtney Coulston lookin forward to it
miss you look that good . good job
I’m a straight band kid who did DCI and I agree. Marching is so cool especially DCI and WGI but pop culture’s “band geeks” or “band kid” is the weird kid that was in band and was kinda cringey or odd. So sad, DCI could be so popular if it wasn’t so expensive and was seen by so many
cavaliers drill is the best, change my mind
Dunno....Gaines' sequential stuff starts losing it's luster after a few seasons.
sam signorelli you got me there
