Very helpful! I sometimes chop onions and put them in the fridge to use that week--but based on this---that is not a good idea! So noted.
freeze em if you chop em up
Thanks James!

You're welcome!
Thanks for this helpful info! You helped increase the shelf life of so much of my food, which couldn't have come at a better time with this pandemic and will be so useful to have and pass on after.
Yay
So helpful. IVE LOST A LOT OF CUT ONIONS I THE FRIG
Glad to help!
When I’m storing it in the fridge, do I put it in the crisper drawer, if so, in low or high humidity? Thank you!
dont store it there
How many days in the fridge would you keep a sweet onion for eating raw with olive oil before you decide its then best for cooking only?
Thanks
i wouldnt store it in the fridge
What about using foil then placing the onion 🧅 in the refrigerator. Yes or no? 🤷🏻♀️
Hi! Thanks for this tip. Can I store chopped onions in an airtight container in the fridge? If yes then for how long? TIA.
The same applies, if you want to store them longer I would freeze them
@@jerryjamesstone, Ok, thanks!
I use a red onion to throw in my salads I have every day. I'll normally go through a whole onion in 1 week and a half. I won't put the onion in the freezer, because I use it every day. Should I dice the whole onion and place it in a container in the fridge and just use what I need each day I make my salad or should I slice off what I need each day to keep the onion as whole as possible until it is completely used? If I keep it whole do I put it in a container as well? Thanks for the help!
I would slice what you need and keep it in a container in the fridge
After slicing some each day as Josh does (I do the same thing), we should put the rest of the onion in the fridge along with the slices?
If it's more than a couple of weeks, can you just cut out the exposed part if the rest still looks ok?
no
Nice
Thanks
i subbed thanks
Awesome!
Can you store cut onions in a dark ventilated place with the whole onions?
no!
@@jerryjamesstone I got it! For some reason I missed it so I replayed again and got it! Thanks for answering. 😃
My hubby tells me to remove the skin before putting a cut onion in the fridge to prevent molding. Is he right? I can’t think why that would make a difference…
I mean, the skin is probably going to be the dirtiest part of the onion but i wouldnt refrigerate them at all
Doesn't onion turn to sugar after being refrigerated?
not in the time this works
Can i wrap the cut onion in foil, then place it in an airtight ziplock bag? 😊
can try
Can you leave cut onions in the fridge uncovered
no
What bout leaving it out on the counter in a plastic bag after cutting it will that b ok?
no
👌👌👌
Thx!
Just curious why it is unsafe to store a cut onion in the fridge?
Because onions are not cleaned like most veggies, they are not typically washed by people, you can introduce bad things, so it CAN be done just got to be careful
@@jerryjamesstone bad things ???
How many DAYS do you have to store the cut onion if you want it for salads ????? .
I would use it up quickly, within a day or 2.
@@jerryjamesstone oh okay ... didn't know that
Thanks for replying BACK.

So i was hoping to find a solution to storing them in my fridge without stinking up my whole fridge. I put them in a ziplock bag but they still manage to stink up my fridge. ☹️
Definitely don’t store in the fridge
@@jerryjamesstone Whaat?? But you literally made a video saying to do exactly that. I'm so confused??? 😂
Oh I thought this was the whole onion one my bad
@jerryjamesstone LOL God no I meant the remaining half. 😂😂😂
I ended up just double bagging the ziplocks. I'll know if it worked in the morning. Wish me luck. 🤞🏾😑🤞🏾
@@jerryjamesstone Update.... Double ziplock bag worked. No onion smell this morning. Yaay! Lol
I want to pre cut my onion for a picnic ( for burgers) but it stinks my car even though i stored it in a zip bag

@@jerryjamesstone Didn't expect this response! Funny!
😜
Coffee is really bad for you, btw
meh
Here comes the people w/o medical knowledge giving their 2 cents. Coffee is not bad for you. It’s all the additives to it that are bad. It also depends on the person as well. For some coffee can help w certain ailments. Before giving medical advice to someone whom you know nothing about, especially their medical history, maybe just keep it to yourself. SMH
I love my coffee.Even my cardiologist and other drs say it is fine for me to drink coffee.
@@KathyFreeman-uq1sl yeah you should probably question anything a doctor tells you nowadays... And cooks on UA-cam. Caffeine inhibits the growth of collagen which slows your healing process and ages you faster and does a whole lot of other stuff that's not good for you. There's a reason that doctors prescribe it for liver cirrhosis because it stops the overhealing and scar tissue developing. It's the same reason it helps psoriasis because your body is overcompensating with healing and slowing down that healing process helps the itching and also helps the scarring on the liver because it actually does slow down collagen production. This guy obviously doesn't have enough research or medical knowledge to give anybody advice but I challenge you to go do the research yourself and figure it out for yourself
@@jerryjamesstone meh is a word of the apathetic.
