    Like ChuckNorrisUltra below, I too am planning a chicken coop/smoking shed for my wife and need a door for her 10x10 shed area. The chicken coop with be attached, but separated by a wall. Now I know how to build a simple shed door. Thx for sharing. Also included in the build will be a storage closet area for feed and supplies. That's going to need doors also and this is perfect. So, thanks again!

    I'm currently trying to do this. My 2 LP panels almost fit perfectly in the middle; so they'll overlap like they are designed to do. The trouble I'm having is, bc I couldn't get a perfectly straight cut, and the doors are different sizes, I can't figure out the length of my structural 2x4s. I'm probably over-thinking it, bc I can tighten up the seams with trim.

    I did a similar door but brought the 2 side trims all the way down and used a 1x6 for the bottom piece. kind of like a kick plate look. Also put a bevel on that piece so water doesn't sit. I didn't set the latch side back any But I should have !

    I laminated two layers of 4x1 to make a door. The joints overlap so it was very strong and light but it was for a chicken coup door with mesh instead of siding.
    Nice work as usual.

    You might want to attach some screws 3/4 of the way through from the backside.
    I used that stuff to renew my garage door and after several winters with snow against the bottom of the door, the wood has warped and started to curl from being wet.

  • @Maxid1
    @Maxid1 2 роки тому

    I might have done a 6 inch skirt for the molding on the bottom of the door. And I would have deck screwed it all on and countersunk/patched the screw tops as well because I love to over build!

  • @aaron74
    @aaron74 2 роки тому +1

    So clever to attach front-facing things (trim) from the backside with screws. I probably would have done it the much less elegant way: countersinking a screw in the front and then filling it in with wood putty. And that would have been after making the mistake of shooting the brads through the trim and plywood. lol
