One more tip, when putting your round bails in the ring. Don’t put them in with the flat or ends up. Put it in with the contour side up. This allow for the water to run off and the cows/steers will eat more of it helping to eliminate waste.
Hi, Evan! I love your Silva Brothers tee shirt. I have watched all 44 seasons of This Old House. They are excellent carpenters and so is Norm Abram. Your bale spear turned out great.
Sometimes when it rains, it pours (as you know). Great modification. Glad Rebekah knew what to do when her brakes went out; that could have been disastrous. Remember, this too shall pass.
So nice to see someone making things and learning new things instead of buying everything and paying someone else to do it all I’ve watched your channel since the beginning and I look forward to every video you make Thank you guys
Love watching your channel. I find it funny that you say everything has been breaking down. I can tell your the type of person who looks for things to do constantly, so things breaking down is just something you manifest for yourself. What's funny is you complain with a big smile.
I watch all your videos and each time I look forward to seeing how you approach, assess and plot a solution to dilemmas. Coming up with good solutions does proceed from a positive perspective. My initial reaction when I encounter a difficulty is discouragement because I like progress. However, I have learned tremendously from working through a difficulty by not being distracted by the interference of a momentary shutdown. 😳🤔🙂👍I do appreciate your attitude and your sincere honesty. Blessings to you and Rebecca. Keep the videos coming. Praying for your success. ☝️🙏🙌💪🎯
That’s so amazing and yes we all make mistakes my friend but you know that it was wrong and you made it right good job all the best to you and your family great video c u later iin your next one
You're right Evan, you are lucky to have the talents to do many types of repairs as there is always plenty of repairs on even a small farm. And I'm sure that hay spear will work tons better now with the improvements. Thanks for another great video.
Enjoyable video Evan! I tremendously appreciate a man who is humble enough to admit he doesn't know it all. Your spear configuration now is like I used for years. Worked well for me. I have said it many times, you are a great fabricator! Can't wait to see you work on the hay bind. Lots of opportunity there for sure! BTW, I bet that brake booster was really fun (NOT). Murfreesboro TN
Story of my life. Always something to fix or change. You will be fine. GOD always gives you the time you need. Keep the faith and everything will work out!!!!
Your wife must be very happy that she has a handy man that can actually fix stuff. My wife is always coming to me to fix stuff, especially the computer. I'm always tinkering with something. I also see from this clip and that T-shirt that someone likes to watch "This Old House". It has a lot of good info for guys that like to build and/or fix things.
Another amazing video. I look forward to your videos more than anyone else’s. Keep up the great work. Still looking forward to rebuilding the firewood shed videos
Thanks for bringing us along on the journey, even though there are some rocks in the road. Really enjoyed your rebuilding the hayfork. I'm just beginning to learn to weld so that was especially interesting. Keep up the good work!
We have large hay fields all around our home and other people bail the hay. All I've ever seen them use is one spear for the round bales. So glad you were able to redo yours so it works better for you now 😊
Feeding and watering your cows on concrete is the best way to keep their hooves in shape. They pivot every time they leave the feeder and it keeps their hooves ground down.
You can move the hay ring with your hay spear, it is a lot easier. Also, when putting a bale out put it out first by sitting it down first and then using the tractor/hay spear you place the hay ring over the bale, easy peasy! I have been doing this for years.
I've seen spears used in other videos. I noticed you took off the netting before the bale was put in the feeder. The other ones I have seen, took the webbing off after they dropped the bale in the feeder. I see you, too, are a Silva Brothers fan. Love that show.
Hay bail rings are easily move around with a hay bail spear or pallet forks. Work smarter not harder. I enjoy your channel. Want to make sure you’re around for a while. 😊
We all know that you have the head for making things/tools but as we also know you take advice. Another piece of advice talk to your followers when you're going to be making equipment beforehand and get people's advice, they will no doubt give you an idea of how things work and possibly a way to go.
Thank you for admitting that your hayspear needs some work because of your listeners. I recently stopped watching another channel after many of us commented on someone else’s channel after they made a mistake and they couldn’t admit to their mistake.
I cut hundreds holes sometimes in 1 in plate The secret to using a Hole saw is that the cuttings tend to clog the Groove there by making the saw do double work..... I drill a 1/8 in hole in the saw grove to allow the cuttings to drop out...... It prolongs the life of the saw. plus saw works faster..... almost a must on plate over 3/8 thick..... Next is that we DO NOT USE the taper-lock spears on Cab equipped tractors because the tightening nut has been known to break off and take the front cab glass out... WE use Special German forged thru bolt secured spears on our cab tractors.....
Great job Evan, you abilities sure does keep things moving and stopping around there. You nailed the hay bail fork but maybe you should dull those two points. Those are really dangerous being that sharp, animals and humans and moving things around them will be in danger! You can hang a ribbon on the center spear but those lower ones will cause an accident I'm afraid? Glad you got it working better for you and that you were able to fix Rebecca's brakes for her and the mower also. Keep up the good work and the great videos, we always enjoy watching you folks around there. Stay safe, Fred.
Again, another great video. I, and I am sure a LOT of other watchers, love your…… whoops I screwed up again…… let’s include it. You see so many other bloggers, vloggers, loggers, whatever…. And you can see the screwup that they forgot to edit out. The both of you stay in good health, and keep on doing what you’re doing please.
Nice modification on the hay spear, I have both a center spear and a two spear, with the two on the bottom of the frame not the top. Both work fine for me, I did notice that my two spear is a smaller diameter than yours, but yours looks great. Good luck on the three point spear. I hope your having a good week and rest of week goes great too.
Your original works just fine. Enter the bale stright and exit straight was your issue. The Reese receiver hitch with an inserted spike would have worked as a stabilizer.
Evan, in the 90s and 2000 a small company in middle Tennessee made a 3PTH bale spear that would pickup a hay ring and drop it over the bale. Somewhere between Murphysboro and Shelbyville. Two brothers or a father son. A regular 3pt spear with 12 to 18 inch cross piece above the spear with a curve to cradle bale ring and and a couple points used as hangers to catch bale ring top ring. Single spear was attached to frame by a heavy metal plate and hinged at top with heavy pin. Pick up bale in normal fashion and place on ground then pick up hay ring dropping over top and hinged spear flexed as dropped over bale. Worked very well as I recall. Last I recall was being sold in some Tennessee Farmers Coops.
Excellent modification. This new design should be just the ticket. Absolutely fantastic use of those old foundations. Feeding and watering locations turn into mucky mires very quickly. Is the plan to place a waterer on the other pad or a second hay ring? It surely would be a blessing to be as handy as you are. I can do quite a bit, but not anywhere near as much as you are capable of. With some injuries and age, my repertoire has decreased. A place to do maintenance is another issue. I could buy the tools, but without a place to keep and use them, that would be a waste of resources. Keep up the good work, Evan! 👍
I used to repsir welding machines in a shipyard. You have some good training on the welding processes. My expertese dealt with tig, mig, braze, stud welders, to mention a few areas. BRAVO ZULU!
Evan, you tube had a Buck Adams DBA as Buck Wild Innovations that shows that Tennessee Hay Bale and Hay Ring mover! The hay rings use on those silo pads will never likely get any lighter!
Hi Evan, just a suggestion on your welding segments try and use a medium green filter on the cam, it will deaden the brightness of the welding glare , I do turn my head, it might be hurting other people also . enjoy your work Lj
Appreciate the "Silva Bros" tshirt. Long time fan of This Old House!
Humility-love it. A rare gift for most who create videos. Thanks
One more tip, when putting your round bails in the ring. Don’t put them in with the flat or ends up. Put it in with the contour side up. This allow for the water to run off and the cows/steers will eat more of it helping to eliminate waste.
Hi Evan, Don't cut the bale sting until it's in the bale feeder. regards from NZ
Hi, Evan! I love your Silva Brothers tee shirt. I have watched all 44 seasons of This Old House. They are excellent carpenters and so is Norm Abram. Your bale spear turned out great.
Was wondering about that shirt....
Sometimes when it rains, it pours (as you know). Great modification. Glad Rebekah knew what to do when her brakes went out; that could have been disastrous.

Silva Brothers for the win!
You never fail to make me smile. You always do something entertaining
So nice to see someone making things and learning new things instead of buying everything and paying someone else to do it all
I’ve watched your channel since the beginning and I look forward to every video you make
Thank you guys
Evan my man, turn the heat up a little bit. The heat will make your welds a lot smoother and prettier and a it will give you more penetration 😉🇱🇷
I would love to see you fixing the stuff that is breaking, you could have it as a separate mini series
Congrats Evan, on finally getting ur Hay Spear done the better way. looks like it works great..

Hi.... Evan and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
You're right Evan, you are lucky to have the talents to do many types of repairs as there is always plenty of repairs on even a small farm. And I'm sure that hay spear will work tons better now with the improvements. Thanks for another great video.
You are very fortunate with the mechanical ability.
Evan - is your shirt from the Silva Brothers Construction that does the general contracting for the PBS This Old House series?
👍👍👍 you are so skilled. Can’t imagine trying to homestead
without your talents and metal working tools….great combo!
Kudos!!!
Nice job on the round bail spear looks good Evan hope you can get your hay mower fixed soon
Great job Evan! Thanks for sharing!
Well done Sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did that Tshirt come from This Old House? That was Tommy Silva’s company, i believe.

Good job Evan, Rebecca is a lucky lady.
Thanks for bringing us along on the journey, even though there are some rocks in the road. Really enjoyed your rebuilding the hayfork. I'm just beginning to learn to weld so that was especially interesting. Keep up the good work!
I wish that I had your tools and talent. Building a tool like that would be so much fun.
Very nice job on the hay spear, works great!👍🏻
I believe the modification to the Hay Spear was steer approved!
ThAts exactly what our bale spear looks like! Great job, as usual!
We have large hay fields all around our home and other people bail the hay. All I've ever seen them use is one spear for the round bales. So glad you were able to redo yours so it works better for you now 😊
You are a great man Evan love how you show the good bad and ugly lol Love your farming
You just have so much fun!!
The fact that you can fix most things yourself makes all the difference. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
Rickin' that Silva Bros shirt!
It's not luck! You have set yourself up so that you have these skills. That is all you Evan!
You are so handy. Great job.❤
Great job getting that all done!

You don’t want your metal bits or hole saws to heat up. You don’t want it to smoke. Don’t be shy with the oil. Keep the cut cool with more oil
Is that a hay fork or a zombie killer! 🤣
Y’all sure is busy…remember to take time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸

On the plus side, you could now turn your tractor into a Triceratops.
You know, for the county parade (;

You are a great person and have done great I don’t think there is anything you will not try!!
Hello Evan nice work. Single spear way better. Have a great day.
Again, another great video.

So glad Miss Rebekah stayed safe. And yeh ... friction and gravity are each, our helpers and our enemies ...
Be thankful that you have the equipment and can do it yourself. Great video!
Outstanding Craftsman ship!!!
Love watching your projects and that you don’t edit out the mistakes. Let’s us know you are human. God Bless!
Love the Silva brothers t-shirt!

Hang in there Evan your doing a great job. Good to see you pained your work not like FTR. 🤣
Evan you got talent that why love your videos .
Excellent modification - very satisfying! Hope you've got a holiday planned in there somewhere, somehow, be nice for you to have a break :)
Love the channel! Keep fixin and I will keep watching
A real inspiration.
One thing I was told; it should sound like bacon and eggs when you weld! if it ain't sizzling , it's too cold!
Great job keep up the great work thank you love your videos
Another suggestion I'd make is to make up another stabilizer bar for the receiver hitch
👍👍👍👍👍👌Great job!!
Your original works just fine. Enter the bale stright and exit straight was your issue. The Reese receiver hitch with an inserted spike would have worked as a stabilizer.

Nice job Sir. You are very talented. Love your videos.
Try spiking the bottom of the bale and see if you can pick it up without it rolling over. You should be able to stack them higher.
Looks Great!
So you have a unicorn for the front of the tractor and a rhinoceros for the back of the tractor. Cool!!!
Looks like the grill of one of the cars from Mad max movie. Works well, good job.
Excellent modification. This new design should be just the ticket. Absolutely fantastic use of those old foundations. Feeding and watering locations turn into mucky mires very quickly. Is the plan to place a waterer on the other pad or a second hay ring?

Hello there Evan, loving your vlogs 👍
Measure twice, weld once 👍
you should try using your grapple fork to feed bales. you can even use it to pick up the hay that falls off of the bale when you cut the twine off.
I used to repsir welding machines in a shipyard. You have some good training on the welding processes. My expertese dealt with tig, mig, braze, stud welders, to mention a few areas. BRAVO ZULU!
Great job Evan enjoy watching you repair equipment, your very talented on what you do, great video 👍
you have the backround to fix things well done
I would take those two round concrete pads, add more concrete to square them of and then you have a good pad to build something on.
good fix ,steers look great
Evan, you tube had a Buck Adams DBA as Buck Wild Innovations that shows that Tennessee Hay Bale and Hay Ring mover! The hay rings use on those silo pads will never likely get any lighter!
Was a little surprised you were not wearing a face shield around all those metal shards.
Great job!
Great video, nice job on the hay spear
Hi Evan, just a suggestion on your welding segments try and use a medium green filter on the cam, it will deaden the brightness of the welding glare , I do turn my head, it might be hurting other people also . enjoy your work Lj
That hay spear is nice
Silva Brothers shirt! Easter egg! :D
Looking at it, I think the hitch bar would have been plenty of stability.
Nice job Evan. Noticed your shirt…is that Tom Silva from this old house? Thanks for sharing. Keep at it, one project at a time!
I see you are a fan of This Old House too with the Silva Brothers t-shirt
New equipment also needs fixing at the most awkward time. At least old stuff is less complex so has less to go wrong.
Great video ! Your doing a awesome job 😂
Thanks🙂
Thanks Evan
