  • Hi friends!
I'm back again with another kitchen lithography experiment and this time it's all about textures. I can't wait to use this method more seriously in one of my editions. The crayon is a broken bit from a Sharpie China Marker and I'm printing with litho ink.
As always, thanks for your support! And let me know if there's a kitchen litho experiment you'd like me to try out.
By the way, if you haven't heard of kitchen litho before, this version using aluminum foil and cola was developed by the artist Émilie Aizier (Atelier Kitchen Print).

I think those “wrinkled” areas are quite beautiful. I could see using them in semi-abstract landscapes.

It’s all about personal preference😊 and definitely, some things I don’t want in my prints look amazing in other’s work!

Have you ever tried to use alternative drawing materials aside from pencils, such as brushing on with grease to draw?

I haven't done extensive research, but I did try a variety of animal fats. I found that beef tallow gave great results for a dry brush stroke feel. Bacon fat was not so great, butter had potential. Also, some things that seem greasy, like vaseline for example, (and even vegetable oil) are not effective drawing materials.

It's a wooden baren by Hwahong. I bought it from Homi Art Shop in Seoul. I'm not sure if you can get them outside of Korea. Perhaps look up Print Frog, which makes glass barens, or Matthieu Coulanges
