Thank you so much. This helps a lot. It's important to be able to access the system away from home no matter what route you're using. I'll be looking for your next review 😁
I think the company fixed all the problems. I've had mine for a few days and everything works great. I'm able to see everything from the app at work. So far I like it
Honest opinion from a guy you just ran into the same problem these cameras were by far the best at night but I also wanted see what was being dropped to my door when I wasn’t there so I ended keeping these and getting the ring doorbell
You mean, it didn't offer external network access as a feature, or, it did but the feature did not work. That seems pretty dramatic. I'd be curious to hear what troubleshooting went into the effort, assuming the latter. There are so many layers and thus points of configuration between camera systems and the source and each one has to be set right. The biggest of course being allowing access through the router's internal firewall and/or forwarded to the correct port. Anyway, would be curious to hear.
To be honest I’m a novice when it comes security cameras. My wife and I both followed the directions, step by step. We contacted customer service and they didn’t answer. About 5 minutes after we called we received a text message that asked us what the problem was. The person said they would look into it and the app itself worked a little better but we couldn’t access the cameras while on cellular data, only while connected to our home internet. Hopefully that helped with what you were asking.
@@Markofalltrades It did, thanks. It's too bad they didn't coach on the whole firewall thing. Getting to it locally but not outside is a giant red flag that it just needed to be cleared in the router (and the current IP address used as a target address). Maybe they just didn't want to get into it.
I have this security system!! And is true if you want distance access to your security system this is not the right one. The app don't work properly and there's no technical assistant. If you're like me that I just use the info on the DVR it is great acquisition for the price!
what is the phone app? I currently am helping someone out. they have been stealing from me now all my cameras don't show on my TV screen but one. the camera is an unimportant camera that shows nothing . how do i get them all running again
hmm... sounds like you can view off your LAN (Local Area Network 192.168.1.##) and not WAN (internet). I don't know anything about this system however, within the setup of your phone app if it offers CLOUD. You would probably just have to enter your serial number from your DVR. If it's offered sometimes within the menu of the DVR you can find a Scanner code (of that serial number) to hold your phone next to and automatically scan info. I would use a password too for your DVR and also remember to add the password info on your phone at setup.
Xvim support is a joke, but it seems like you didn't have the proper rules setup on your router to allow remote access. I had to set up the 80 (8080 in my case) and 37777 rule on my router to allow me to access the cameras when not on my home network. Referred to as port forwarding. I also had to change the HTTP Port settings from 80 to 8080 on the NVR along with the TCP Port to 37777 which was defaulted to 34567 on the NVR. This is done because the routers firewall is trying to protect the home network by not allowing external networks to access the NVR. The rules allow for the external access to that specific port which, in this case, is the one used by the NVR. In addition to this, my t-mobile router also had a not so normal gateway and network IP address so I also had to reflect the correct addresses on the NVR before it even allowed the NVR to connect online. I hope this comment helps other people who bought the same system.
Daniel Garcia You’re right I don’t think I had the router to access the network. I think that was a little more past my expertise. Thanks for the detailed comment!
@@Markofalltrades Believe me, I knew little about the subject but I found others on reddit having the same issue on different systems. I'm trying to get the system connected to my TV and I was wondering if you had to do anything special to get the picture to come up because I have everything set up correctly but I'm still not seeing a picture
WORKS 1005 GOOD GO TO MAIN MENU//NETWORK//you have to enable 3G/4G I use the app out of my network ,can see cameras on my job...just have a good configuration
Haven't used this system, but if it offers through "CLOUD". Got to app on phone when setting up choose Cloud and enter your Serial Number of your DVR. Another way to input your DVR serial number is to use Scanner inside phone app. Go to your DVR menu and find the Scanner Code and scan with phone app.
We connected our phones to it without wiring anything around the house. Then disconnected the wifi from our phones and it immediately didn't show on our app. What a shame.
I wish I would have done that before hand. That was smart, on your part, to do that before setting anything up permanently. If the app worked I think it would be pretty nice.
@@Markofalltrades it's crazy, I don't know if it's the tv or the HDMI cable or the unit itself..the cameras are all functional, and the hard drive is running in the unit..but I have no output to the TV at all through the HDMI cable.
ManicPandaMedia if it were me I think I’d try a different HDMI cable or maybe another tv just to double check that everything on your end is functional. Other than that I’m not sure what else it could be?

Appreciate the comment! I couldn’t agree more. I ended up getting the Arlo cameras, that is in the next video I did after this one.
@@Markofalltrades why didn't u replace the same system with the same one instead of the Arlo ?
I use the camera on a different network. Now XVIM forces us to purchase the cloud storage to do so.
Do I have to drill a hole to get it to the box? Like how do I run the wires from outside to box inside?
Did you not add a hard drive to your order?
Hi, I have a quick question. You just used an Ethernet cable to connect the dvr to your modem right? We don’t need to get a router? Thanks!
How did you connect it to your iPad or phone?
