My best friend and I are from Illinois and were big Heavy D fans. We'd been listening to him since 'Uptown's Kickin It' back in '86. We grew up and moved to different cities, me to Chicago and he to Los Angeles. He ended up becoming a boxing/physical trainer working in a boxing club on Paolina. In '98 I came to visit and hung out at the club. They had a lot of celebrity clientele (Eddie from Family Matters, Michael Jai White, a fresh faced Jennifer Lopez, Carmen Electra, etc...) so it wasn't a thing when Heavy D walked in there. I wanted to meet him so I walked right up and introduced myself and Heavy D shook my hand and said to me "oh yes, I've heard a lot about you from your guy." Here's Heavy D, a world-renowned entertainer and childhood hero of mine telling me that HE'S HEARD OF ME. That showed me everything I needed to know about that man. Just a powerful and warm spirit in that guy. He is sorely missed.
I love Hip Hop so much! My beautiful daughter was born at the same time I was told of Heavy Ds passing. As I was on my way to the hospital my boy called me and told me about Heavy. As I cried for Heavy I also felt the joy of my new born. May he Rest In Peace 👊🏽

So glad I found this. Heav was so underrated but set the standard for rhymin' without expletives. His hardest for me later on in transition was We got our own thing, You Can't See, Ready for Dem,Yes Y'all,Here comes the Heavsta,Listen and On Point with Pun and 8-Ball. Miss the brother and his music.
Oh Heavy D….I know you resting in peace with our Lord. One of the best, overlooked MCs ever. You showed humility, and left a catalog of work that stands today. You are the real deal, who was and is genuine. Love from Sydney, Australia.
D Nice thank you. I've been just looking for Heavy D interviews just because i miss him. But this is great!! Oh and i learned from him that you D Nice did self destruction.. Dwight Meyers rest in Paradise
Omg this hit me right in the heart. How did I miss this body of work of yours all these years! Hip Hop Forever. RIP Heavy D 🙏🏾 Yes I'm inspired. Thank you
I really miss Heavy D. And I always thought that Heavy was so fly. He Truly Is Uptown’s Finest. Without him there’s no big and sexy in Hip-Hop; no Biggie Smalls, no Rick Ross, no Big Pun ... even though I love all of these guys lyrically (mad love and respect).
Heavy D and all the old school hip hop art's that pass away cause we will always love them and miss always. Made God bless their souls that they rest in peace and I say word up doc. And to my family and friends that made God bless their souls also that they rest in peace and I say word up doc love them and miss them so much and always forever and ever. I know that I will see them at the crossroad. Love you all and miss you all already. January10_2020.
Hev was doin Melodic Rap Early! Doin what Drake got credit for 30 years later. His Sound was always unique. Using R&B Melody to make Rap records in 87 is crazy...
THANX D-NICE... it's been awhile since u made a new feature in this series. here's a question for the community: WHY DIDN'T THE SONG - YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT I CAN SEE - never made it on an album? it was HEV's hardest and edgiest song he ever made. I guess if u didn't get it when the single dropped u missed out? HHHMMMM? I know it's on HEAVY HITZ though.
