i am always amazed that you're ever in the mood to paint environments since you work as a background artist. i would have been so burnt out with environments by this point!! i just love that you love what you do so much --- it's really inspiring!! and i LOVE watching you paint environments!!! it makes me want to try painting them. they're so intimidating to me, but you really make me want to work on getting better!!
I already know why Disney wanted you from the first time they saw your art: you're pretty talented and an amazing artist 💛 i love u, your videos always make me happy when I'm feeling blue
I don’t say this enough but thank you for all your videos, you changed the way I look at improving. I realised I had something to aim towards rather than seeing my current art as everything I’m capable of and working on that (if that makes sense...) because I didn’t think I’d ever be able to be anything more. You’re my goal.
oooH so lovely Laura! what a peaceful scene. Could you do a video one day about how you approach colour? I find the endless colours you can choose from really overwhelming. I'd love to learn more about colour theory, how to choose colours that go well together, how to pick tones for highlights and shadows, how to navigate the colour wheel on procreate/photoshop etc.
Imagine being at this level :o You're such a hard worker and strong for being so committed to art. I really want to be on this level, but I find it so hard to keep drawing and not get discouraged by my art (because I'm not really that good yet..) Thanks for uploading!
HI LAURA, could you PLEASE do a video about your anxiety you struggle with (as you’ve talked about having). I struggle with severe anxiety and even though I hate the idea of anyone else suffering with it too, it’s somehow cathartically relieving to know ppl like me are not alone in it and I would love to know your back ground with it and you deal/cope with it?? Perhaps what triggers it? And if you often deal with it while at work? Thank you! I love your videos! And thank you so much for being vulnerable because you’re def not alone with that struggle!
I keep a big list of things I want to draw! I have trouble just choosing 1 at a time. whenever you get an idea when you're out, I'd recommend writing it down or sketching it out if you have paper. just a quick thumbnail so you'll know what you want to draw later when you have time!
@@lulusketches So do you do it out of your imagination without reference? The most artist I see that doing environmental things plainly just copy from photo
Silber Hörnchen Inspiration comes from many places I’m sure, She said sketch it out to remember it, or take a picture, I usually take a picture with my phone, sometimes I like to combine photos depending on the subject. For example I had a Las Vegas strip photo I took, but I wanted the mountains in it, so I added them in psychedelic colors lol
Silber Hörnchen she has spent many hours drawing from references which can give you an existing visual library you can draw from. Some artists can draw humans from memory too because they’ve already done a million like it
Watching your videos always gives me equal measures of uplifting inspiration and motivation, and deep sucking insecurity with a sprinkling of "Aw man, I'll never be as good as Laura!" xD
Hi Laura! I just want to say you are an INCREIBLE inspiration to me. I've always done digital art, but your advice and time-lapse paintings have motivated me so much to be a better artist. Whenever I see your stuff I just think: "I want to do THAT someday." (You make it look so easy!) I know you can get pretty busy, but I always look forward to seeing what new projects or advice you have on youtube/ Instagram. You're always so encouraging for others to pursue their dreams and it's really helped me get through hard times. Keep it up!
This is my favourite painting of yours so far, it reminds me of my summer village in Spain, called Eslida. I'm mean, not my village, but the village I go in summer :D And the light and mood seems like a Sorolla, you are very talented!
I know you work for Disney, but man, you sure do have that Disney look down pat in your paintings. I can just look at your scenes and characters and immediately think "Disney." Great videos. I enjoy watching them. Thanks.
Really enjoy seeing how you build up textures, like on the rock wall. You don’t just try to match the color, temperature, and exact shape of the rocks, instead you slowly build up to the final shape by chiseling and layering on other textures (if that makes sense😊). It’s a technique I’m gonna have to try out sometime 😁
This is really awesome and you are unbelievable like your paintings.. i want to make a trip inside your imaginary environments...😅😅😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.. really wanna do arts like you..
Hey Laura, thank you so much for these amazing videos! I love all of your content. I wanted to ask you what you think are the best types of landscapes/environments to start painting when you are brand new to it and want to practice? I really want to learn but overwhelming landscapes are scary! So I wanted to what you thought was a good leaping off point? Thanks again for everything you do!
This is sooo gorgeous!!!! Great job!!! I want to ask you something, what sizes of canvas and resolution do you use? So you can do the painting without losing brushes textures?
When u have blocked out the shapes, what do u think about adding texture with real images on the shapes? Like matt painting? Is it not allowed in concept art market?
Hi Laura! This is absolutely stunning. I love watching your videos, as they are always so inspiring, but I do have a question; what kind of advice would you give to someone who is a working a 9-5 day job and also going to school part time in an art related field (digital arts and sciences- a lot of video game and animation stuffs)? When I get home from work, I start my homework, and by the time that's done its around 8-9 o clock and I am drained, leaving very little time for personal projects or improvement exercises.
Really DOPE Laura! Thanks for ur sharing and ur art, i hope that one day i can learn all of this and became an artist amazing like you :) I'm startint studyng concept art in october in a Academy of Game Art.
Hey Laura, love this piece! I love the way you tackle the foliage & stone wall + the sun shining through the tree. Also, love your color choices~ how do you go about choosing your palette? such as, choosing colors that are too saturated or bright, etc.
hey laura! i was wondering if you could do a video about face and body proportions because that’s something i’ve always struggled with. i can never draw people in different positions.
Great result!! How did you learn to do environment paintings? It is a subject that isn't really tutorial-ed online that much outside of some expensive courses. Or everybody just says "Practise" which doesn't help at all when you want to know how to approach it. ...
Excellent video, and lovely painting I think it has a nice watercolour feel to it. Can I ask if you used a photo as a basis for the painting or were you working from imagination?
''I keep a big list of things I want to draw! I have trouble just choosing 1 at a time. whenever you get an idea when you're out, I'd recommend writing it down or sketching it out if you have paper.'' -(Laura from a comment above) I guess it's mostly ideas, ideas can come from reference too!
Hey Laura it was great to bump into you at Lightbox! I was the scottish guy asking you to be on my podcast haha let me know if you're up for it i would love to chat about art with you :)
Your environment painting is sooo beautiful!!!! My question is: how long does it take for you to completely finish one of your paintings (or specifically this one)?
Just curious, were you color picking from anything, maybe the photo reference? And if so, how do you control the contrast between colors? I’ve been finding recently that if I’m not careful my digital painting starts to look a little muddy color-wise.
no I don't color pick, you can see how I pick colors in the timelapse. if you're having trouble with contrast, I would recommend making a tonal painting first (in greyscale) and then paint!
Only a 123 layers (plus collateral ofc) 🤔🤣 But it is a pretty environment! I should def try to start determining my light earlier. I always get stuck later on🤭 I saw you making some smart choices too! Lot to learn still! Thank you so much for your effort!❤
Like every environment painting I see I'm like "I wanna go there!!" This is no exception! So pretty!
You prove to me the importance of not getting overly fussed by brush types....All art is mastering the basics....A great video...Thank you.
The fact that you don’t use any sort of perspective guides is godly! Please do a tutorial one day on simple perspective in landscapes :0 ❤️😮
i am always amazed that you're ever in the mood to paint environments since you work as a background artist. i would have been so burnt out with environments by this point!! i just love that you love what you do so much --- it's really inspiring!! and i LOVE watching you paint environments!!! it makes me want to try painting them. they're so intimidating to me, but you really make me want to work on getting better!!
Damn. Honestly, I've never had this much interest in environment painting until I've seen your work
I already know why Disney wanted you from the first time they saw your art: you're pretty talented and an amazing artist 💛 i love u, your videos always make me happy when I'm feeling blue
I love your environment paintings so much!! you are such a huge inspiration to me, and I'm aspiring to get into the animation industry :D
I don’t say this enough but thank you for all your videos, you changed the way I look at improving. Could you do a guide on gray scale for shetches and monotones?
Do you ever do a voice over describing what you are doing? I would love to learn the techniques
ua-cam.com/video/so3owYqcwVg/v-deo.html
Here's a video of her's that has a voice over, a lot of tips, tricks!
Imagine being at this level :o You're such a hard worker and strong for being so committed to art. I really want to be on this level, but I find it so hard to keep drawing and not get discouraged by my art (because I'm not really that good yet..) Thanks for uploading!

your brick and stonework is so gorgeous! i loved seeing this process 💕
This was lovely to watch! I suck at environmments and speed paintings and this is encouraging
How do you determine what you're going to draw? I always have a hard time figuring that out :/
I keep a big list of things I want to draw! I have trouble just choosing 1 at a time.
whenever you get an idea when you're out, I'd recommend writing it down or sketching it out if you have paper. just a quick thumbnail so you'll know what you want to draw later when you have time!

Watching you make art I am learning once again that good artists need to be brave with their work.
It's a beautiful painting.
Your speedpaints give me peaceeeee
I really love watching the progress of your paintings ❤️
Not gonna lie still have the background music from your last speedpaint of an environment stuck in my head!
Hi Laura!

Love the way it comes together 🙌👏 GOT TO SHOW MY CLASS!!!
I love that you're being sponsored! You do such amazing and beautiful work!
Love love how you approach environments! inspirational for sure!
The process from an artist's mind to our eyes is always such an enjoyable and unique experience. Thanks for sharing. Great work, as always.
Ahhh, I saw this one on Instagram and was shook at the realism and detail. I'm so glad you posted the process here! Beautiful piece. 😊
Love the final painting! I can imagine it as one of the puzzles with 1000+ pieces lol
Eres impresionante, llevo 5 meses de haber encontrado tu canal y me he convertido en un gran fan de tu trabajo, eres una inspiración para mi
I always feel like I learn a lot from your videos! You're a great role model for aspiring artists! Plus, your "baller as hell!".
so beautiful but when you put the 2 lines to make the sun rays...you blow my mind!!
This is my favourite painting of yours so far, it reminds me of my summer village in Spain, called Eslida. I'm mean, not my village, but the village I go in summer :D And the light and mood seems like a Sorolla, you are very talented!
What a talented person. I enjoy watching your speed painting.
Using that marquee tool to do those sharp edges is fascinating. I love the wall so much :)
Can you make a video describing how you blend your texture brushes? I love how you shade using textures it brings so much to your work.
Such a beautiful environment piece!
Man these videos are so relaxing to watch. One skill wish I had (ability to draw well). Slowly trying to improve.
I know you work for Disney, but man, you sure do have that Disney look down pat in your paintings. I can just look at your scenes and characters and immediately think "Disney."
Great videos. I enjoy watching them. Thanks.
Love the perspective of this. Feels like the eye is draw into the scene
Totally inspiring. Thanks so much.
Uwu love your art Laura!!!!! Keep up with the amazing art work!
Damn, this looks great LULU. Good job!
Such a lovely street.

Your work always amazes me. I love watching your videos. Inspires me to chase my dreams and work at building the skills I need. Thank you!
I love all of your speedpaints!!! Do more please :)

That piece is amazing! Can you make a environment painting tutorial? Or something that we could follow along and paint with you
it's awesome 😯😯😯. i wish if i could paint like you, you are really great.
its so beautiful!!! I'd buy a whole Art of Lulu sketches book if it existed
this is beautiful Laura. keep up the good work.
Hi. Beautiful artwork. Really nice lighting! How long did it take you to do this painting? Also, did you use references? Thank you.
It was so fun to watch your process! I absolutely love the finished piece.
You totally blow my mind!
Third time watching this! This turned out so amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful background!!
Great surroundings turned out. I also draw sometimes, but landscapes. How long did the drawing take?
I love your artwork! How long did it take you to do this piece?
I’ve never even considered using the pen tool and now I’m rethinking everything 🤯
This is really awesome and you are unbelievable like your paintings.. i want to make a trip inside your imaginary environments...😅😅😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.. really wanna do arts like you..

Wow! Wonderful!
I'm wondering, do you give background classes? 👀
Hey laura, what are the softwares that you use the most for digital painting?

That is awesome
HOW is this a drawing and not a picture? 6:51
Wow.. you’re so talented 😱♥️✨
Looks like a paintover (painted over rather than traced) images.app.goo.gl/v6hq8ZMamvT7FyzU7
Hi Laura! Your art is so inspiring! How long did this painting take you to do?
Seems like 2-4 hours when slowed down. It's most likely closer to 4 hours than it is to 2.
THIS MADE MY DAY!
This is amazing!
how long did it take you to finish?
How did you get the idea for this? Did you paint this from a photo?
Awesome work!!! I was wondering if you have a preference in your drawings, characters or environments, or just love doing both?
How long did you give yourself
Soooooo cool artwork
Do you paint outside?? (with Gouache or iPad)
Do you imagine those scenarios or do you modify a existing place? Love your art. You inspire me ♡
Hey Laura it was great to bump into you at Lightbox! I was the scottish guy asking you to be on my podcast haha let me know if you're up for it i would love to chat about art with you :)

How many hours do you work for your disney office in a day ? Plzz mention minimum and maximum time you spend in your office.
You should get some acoustic foam to stop that echo, it's easy to put up and it's pretty cheap nowadays.
In what program are you drawing? Is it photoshop?
Just got my XP-PEN 22e PRO Display tablet. Extremely nice. Wonderful drawing experience. Just like the Wacom but only $399. Thanks for your videos.
Beautiful~ You didn't even need a reference. You drew it from your imagination~
