BEST Gimbal for the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K

- I've been using and loving my BMPCC4K for a couple months now, but with that being said I've been actively searching for the best gimbal for it. The Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is oddly shaped which makes it difficult to properly mount it on most gimbals. It's also decently heavy in combination with a lens making most handheld gimbals unable to carry its weight. The Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab solves both of those problems and more; this Gimbal is amazing and here's why it's my new favourite gimbal for the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K!

Consider using no music for your next videos. Enjoy the silent moments of your editing and let your viewers concentrate on your voice and specific info that you want to pass through. It will be more cinematic.

the music isn't actually loud, its just the type of music. It's a bit too lively. A more subtle music would have been better at the same volume
funny thing is, if i didn't see the comments on the volume of the music I wouldn't even have heard it much, but now that I've seen the comments...LOL!
As an audio engineer I feel like he should have lowered the volume during dialogue and then, automated it to be loud during silence, or if he wanted to keep the music going he could have gated the music and his vocals could peer through the mix. I hope he invests in pro tools. It would help his “content”. Or at least lowered the music during the high energy parts. But yea my Audio OCD is freaking out.
@@TheTrace89 You can use sidechain compression in Resolve. He doesn't even need to buy a DAW.

The shame about the background music being way too loud is that you didn’t even need music for this. It wasn’t really used consciously. You just dumped it on the timeline and there it is. If you’re not going to use scoring intentionally, better to just not even use it. I comment more on the content, but that’s kind of the problem. That volume overwhelms everything. But I do appreciate you putting your experience with the gimbal out there.
That jitter might not be the gimbal but a dropped frame from the camera, or more specifically, the HD you record too. One way to test for sure is set the camera up to stop recording when you get a dropped frame. Do a test and see if that's the problem.
Is their a type of leather support or sling that will take stress off of wrist ,shoulders, and back for long shoots like Catholic Weddings as they can be very long.

I have read that it is better to use a Smallrig half cage to be able to use the follow focus on the Crane 3. Is this true? Have you had any problems with the complete cage? What is your opinion?

Yea, music is pretty bad on your video like others said. Also, Offsetting the plate on the camera is annoying as well... I hope 2020 gimbal fix this ! I want something that I can switch between Shouldercam to gimbal pretty quickly.

Looking at 3:42, you still need to offset it right? So when you put the camera back in a full rig with rods, you would still have to put the baseplate back in the middle.... right?

You’re a filmmaker you didn’t realize that music in the background is very annoying when trying to understand what your talking about.
you have saved me almost 500-600 on something that may not have worked well with my BMPCC4K (Ronin S/Feiyutech AK4500) so i want to thank you for this because it's only $489 on amazon. So did you have an extender handle or anything? and what kind of follow focus do i need to look into? the motor focus made for this gimbal? that would save me from buying a wireless $250 focus too! i'm so excited mow
Great video but sometimes the background music competes too much with your voice. I have a Crane 3 S but i can't get the handle to control the Blackmagic (ISO,TV,AV) anyone have this problem? any fixes? i can adjust it on my phone app but not the joystick

Hey Noahvde...you speak about jitters in diagonal movements but i seem to have it when i walk slowly too ( i noticed you were sprinting with it) can you please elaborate about the values you are assigning to the motor settings? I have tried the preset options as well as custom values but can't seem to get rid of jitters while even doing a slow walk, trying to analyse what I might be doing wrong here. Im using the BMPCC 4k with the Tilta cage (offset to the last 1/4 screw hole closest to battery) and paired it with a Helios 58mm mounted through a Viltrox M4/3 to EF converter.
How have you handled the bmpcc4k’s wank battery life using the crane 3? Loads of LP batteries or is there a better option?

Nice review but hold on??? Don't tell me you used your gimbal with no Monitor, no Follow Focus, how do you take your best shot? How do you control your subject point while you recording? I think As a pro you should get something well prepared and ready before you present it to us as videomaker.

@@TonyRush21 DirectorZ has a point though. What's the use of having a gimbal if you can't control your focus. One of the reasons I am watching some of these vids is to see what complete set up I will need to use the gimbal in a way that can give me the best results. I hate getting equipment and then realizing I need xyz to get it the shots I want.
