The pool is so wonderful to relax in as well as work out. I struggle with being consistent with my exercise, so I decided to wake up early and walk briskly in my neighborhood for 30 minutes everyday. So that no matter what happens the rest of the day I’ve at least gotten that base 30 minute walk done. I do a weight circuit class at my gym twice a week. I’ve been surprised at how much I’m enjoying the peaceful early morning walks. Here’s to taking better care of ourselves!❤️🌴🌺
Ya I am not consistent either. Pool should make me some what consistent at least June through October anyway. We are in it most days.

Tidy Tiny Tuesday
After work I thought I would only fold the laundry but I actually did that and organized/decluttered my sock drawer. It only took 10 minutes and makes a big difference! Sometimes we put off simple tasks….

Hey Michelle! Nice self-care reminders. I need to get back to a good routine.
🔲My goal is to take care of my body so it supports me in my old age. I’ll be 67 in August.
▫️Hair cut/style. Got that done today. My hair is thinning. But, I love the gray color of my hair.
▫️Face Care. I have a good routine. Cleanse, exfoliate, lymphatic massage, moisturize. I don’t have a lot of wrinkles. I have some sagging - mostly due to recent weight loss. I have sagging skin everywhere. But, that’s life. (For you young ones - get the weight off when you’re young. As you age - your skin loses collagen and it doesn’t firm back into place.) I also do some face yoga.
▫️Eye Brows. Need waxing. My sisters get a whole face wax. I may try it.
▫️Mani/Pedi. Haven’t had those in a few years. Got out of the habit during C-19. I’ll start it back up.
▫️Leg Hair. I’m so guilty of not keeping this done. Another reason - I’ve put off pedicures.
▫️Skin Care. I’m not a big lotion user. But, I’ve been putting lotion on my elbows & feet. I’m taking a daily scoop of collagen in my morning coffee to see if that helps.
▫️Feet. I have a good routine for scrubbing my feet & using a pumice stone. I slather lotion on them and wear socks in the evenings before bed.
▫️Callus treatment. I have a big callus on my right wrist from gliding my wrist across the page when I write. And, 2-3 on fingers. (That’s how much I write.) I have a prescription treatment for it. But, I’ve been lax on using it. I need to make it a part of my morning and bedtime habit.
▫️Hydrate. I drink a lot of water throughout the day. 64-96oz. I use my 16oz Yeti and refill it frequently.
▫️Morning Sunshine. Still not doing this - as much as you tell me to do it. I think I need to make this intentional. Outside for 10 - 15 minutes in the morning. Get morning light. Sleep better at night.
▫️Cardio. I need to get back to my daily goal for steps. That’s going to require me being more intentional.
▫️Strength. Walking is a good lower body workout. When I do the Leslie Sansone walk-at-home videos I actually can get a good upper body workout. I can add weights to it.
▫️Balance. I’ve worked on this some - but I want to get a regular routine. I want to be able to balance while standing on one foot. (See YT channel Upright Health for exercises. )
▫️Flexibility. I can bend over and put my hands flat on the floor in front of me. Floor work. I like getting down into the floor and practice getting up and down from a seated position. There are some exercises I can do to strengthen the muscles I need to be able to sit and stand without using my hands. (See YT channel Upright Health for exercises. )
That pool just looks wonderful. Looks like a great day in the pool suns out and that wonderful umbrella that you have a little bit of shade for you don’t get sunburned beautiful home. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Hey Michelle, great idea for a Tiny Tidy! My husband has been eating salt lately and I have gotten on board with it too! That lounge outfit is SO cute! Love it! I think you could wear it out! Yes - I am in the process of changing up my workout to add in weight lifting! I used to lift weights once a week at the gym before Covid and never got back to going regularly. Girl, you and I are doing all of the same self care things! I have been wanting to start doing the cold shower thing! It's good to know that you get benefits just from rinsing in cold water after a regular shower. I also like listening to jazz while I cook dinner haha!! Thanks for sharing!💖
Thanks Ji! The jazz music has been helping me stay off social media. I watch a little something in the morning on UA-cam then then in jazz music and get to cleaning then again in the evening .

I've been enjoying the benefits of cold water showers since perimenopause symptoms started about 5 years ago. I always rinse my hair in very cold water anyway as it adds shine so it was just a small (but bracing!) step to also rinse my whole body. I also enjoy jazz every now and then, mostly traditional jazz. My grandad was a jazz musician who played double bass and guitar so it always makes me think of him.
I think I has been 6 months since I’ve been doing the cold water shower thing. I don’t even like hot showers anymore just warm ones. I can literally feel my body swell when I take a hot shower. Cold ending showers definitely help my inflammation as well as the pool.
My fiend who has Parkinson’s takes ice baths! 🙀 It helps with dopamine which she takes meds for too so less meds she has to take when she takes ice baths. I don’t think I could so that.

It is very relaxing and a godsend! Helps my anxiety and inflammation. I have been sleeping better lately too. Self care is always a work in progress. Some months I do well some I do not.

It has been wonderful for us to enjoy the summers now. Usually we are inside a lot here in the summer. Northerners have cabin fever in the winter, Floridians have it in the summer.

OMG! I can’t tell you how comfy it is! And two big pockets in the front one for my phone and the other pick up little stuff to put away when I’m cleaning lol! I bought another one yesterday in a different color.
Yes my friend has Parkinson’s and she does cold water plunge thing it helps with dopamine which apparently low dopamine is a problem with Parkinson’s. She takes meds for that. Bless her heart!

Oh my goodness, I had more periods in March than you had rain!!! Perimenopause is quite the trip but my thyroid problem probably makes it even worse.
I'm glad you're taking care and pacing yourself after the bad virus you had. I just washed all my daughter's bedding and clothing from when she was sick.
Oh yeah I remember perimenopause not fun or menopause. I’m sure that is what was causing my imbalance and bouts if depression but feeling much better mentally these days since I’ve been out of it for several years. I had it all early?? as have my thyroid out threw me into it all I was 48 when my thyroid was taken out. Well actually now that I think of it I probably in perimenopause and didn’t have my period for a year. Then after my operation I had my period again a few times. Weird right?
That reminds I need to make appointment with my gynecologist. I think it’s been a few years since my last apt.

🔲Cold shower rinse. When our A/C was out for a week. I took a dip in cold bath water 2-3 times a day. It was very refreshing. Especially since it was hot in the house. My body was hot. So, my body temp went from too warm to cold. I lost a lot of weight that week! But, we weren’t eating much that week either.
Oh wow! 👍💜 I am really liking the cold water shower rinse more and more. I can’t have water as hot as I use to either at beginning of my shower as I literally can feel my body swelling from it.

I’ve seen that roller thing before. What does it do?
We always called that lounging area the “den”. But, my childhood 1950s mid century ranch home had a formal living room and a den.
In our current home - we have a split-level with a Downstairs living room (hubbie’s space) and an upstairs living room (my space). Both rooms are open to each other. So, we can carry on a conversation. Nothing is formal here. 🙄

Are those just regular weights? Is there some advantage to doing that in the pool than just around the house? We are supposed to hit 90s next week. Thinking it might be time to go hang out at the pool for a bit.... I rarely ever get in so havent wanted to put money into something that only worked in the pool.
Just regular weights. They have some coating on them though but just for style not special to use in the pool.
