On a note, the author has confirmed that as he dies, each world continues to exists, he just keeps jumping from parallel world to parallel world, to Subaru this fact was crushing, he never wanted to even think about this possibility, he was betting everything that every time he created a reset all the bad things would cease to exist, but being confronted by the pain he caused everyone by his deaths was too much for him to handle.
I believe Rosswall "can't" kill Subaru because he isn't actually aware of how Subaru loops. It's easier to assume it's a conscious thing that Subaru does, so he tortures him to get him to do it, because if it was a conscious power that Subaru had to activate and not a Return by Death thing, killing Subaru would stop things in their tracks and he would never get what he wants.
Yeah, the tome must be telling him Subaru must redo a past action to achieve his desire, but it’s pretty obvious that Roswaal has no idea how it works. For if Roswaal knew that he could force it by killing Subaru, I have no doubt that he would do so.
Eh not really. She agrees she would never force him to use return by death. She just wants to see everything that changes loop to loop or maybe ask him now and then to try something to satify her curiosity. Essentially her goal is to get him to a point where he views Return by Death as something as easy as flipping a light switch so he can use it to answer all her questions.
@@poasttoasties6655 No it was more like how I was citing it. She never forces him she just convinces him until he doesent care about dying anymore. Then she can use it as much as she wants. Spoilers for greed if This is shown by how Greed Subaru is so numb to return by death that he kills himself to go back to tell Petra the weather. Why would she need to force him when he does it himself?
@@Regu269 I think i remember reading somewhere that the author said that reinhard is so overpowered he can win a fight against the sun, so he is definitely unstoppable.
The author straight up said he is the most powerful person But he wouldn’t be able to kill satella for reasons that exist but I refuse to spoil them if they are unknown
@@birdup2141lol no. The author literally said in an interview after that and I quote (this is a translation) “Reinhardt is the strongest person in re zero, well I’d say he is evenly matched with satella in terms of power but yeah, there’s no one in the world that’s as powerful as them”.
that was not Satella, emilia just gone crazy for doing the trial so many times alone, cuz puck nor subaru was there to support her. the smoke on her eyes is just a grafic representation of her madness. Roswaal knows that Subaru is restarting but he doesn't know how to trigger that ability
The anime doesn't do a good job explaining what Echidna wanted with the contract, but basically she would help Subaru get to the his most desirable outcomes. However, not before making him go through an almost endless amount of return by death in order for her to see as many possible outcomes as possible. Subaru would eventually get to the end of the story but at the cost of dying an infinite number of times in order to satiate Echidna's curiosities. It's 100% a bad deal for Subaru.
Episodes 15 is season 1 and 12 of season 2 are my favorites to see reactions for. The extreme pain of Subaru plaout like horrific poem, with death replacing words.
Well there's a theory which one was not either confirmed or denied. It basically says that "Satella" and "The Witch of Envy" are separate entities ones possesing it's own consciousness. In this theory Subaru is considered "Flugel" - the legendary Sage of the past, the one that sealed The Witch of Envy with the help of a Dragon and Reid Astrea. The Witch of Envy sickendly loved Flugel and Satella wanted him to seal them both away (The Witch and Satella posseses the same body of a half-elf) or destroy them. Being the entity that can be possesed with separate souls, Subaru is considered the one to be possesed by The Witch and to destroy her somehow with that, or to unseal her and save her somehow.
If you think about, actually it's kinda obvious that Subaru is "Flugel". In the end Shaula is said to outfit herself in the manner of her master the Flugel himself. And her apearence's colours are Black and Orange, the ones shared the same as Subaru's tracksuit.
The anime doesn't fully convey it but in the manga, Echidna's monologue is a huge crazy wall of text of exactly how greedy/intense she is and it is long. Echidna is greedy for knowledge and knowing every possibility, outcome and seeing what happens (Thus the trials and what she did to Beatrice). She doesn't care 'WHAT your answer' is... she just wants to see what you CHOOSE your answer to be. So when she says she wants a taste of Subaru's everything... everything he experiences, everything he loves, hate, etc. she is basically saying she will use return by death to try 'every possible outcome' because she is greedy and wants everything. So it isn't a 'sign your soul to the devil' and she will give you the best possible outcome. It is a sign your soul to the devil, she will ALLOW you to experience every failure (eaten by rabbits, torture, bad route ends, etc.) because she is greedy and wants to see what happens AND then at the end, she will allow you to reach your desired goal. Probably wouldn't still be sane by the end tho.
Yeah, I see someone mentioned the "What If"s stories. The one when Subaru accepts Echidna's deal is wild. Well...they are all f'd up quite a bit. Love em.
After you finish season 2 I'm hoping you guys will do reactions to the Re: Zero IF stories. There's some good fanmade summary videos on youtube. They cover alternate timelines where Subaru goes down a "bad route" that breaks off from the main story at integral parts in the story. For example, one of them branches off at "what if Subaru did accept Echidna's deal"...
I hope that you guys can read the novel of Rezero so you can read the Rezero IF stories, Rezero IF is a side story/alternate universe of the Rezero where what would happen "if".
Fun fact echidnas speech was 2 pages long in the light novel. This season (arc) of re zero is longer than the lord of the rings trilogy in light novel form. Also there are alternate stories where subaru makes bad decisions. The greed if story follows what happens if he had done the contract it would be really cool if you checked out the youtuber Echidnut since he has very well made shortened versions of the if stories.
TV Shows for you! Dinotrux, Dinotrux Supercharged sequel, Lego Ninjago, Transformers Prime, Camp Cretaceous, Max Steel, Batman The Brave and the Bold and Skylanders Academy!
I think anime lose substance when english sub i dont know why but japanese VA just seem so much more believable English VA seem like their phoning it in .

echidna is the type of person who would force subaru to kill himself over and over to learn every permutation of conversation he could have in a day.

The ending of eps.11 is the scariest, i suppose.
Especially that moment when Emilia kissed Subaru's corpse :)
Oh boy is that kiss even more messed up with later context.
