  • Life in London: The "Speaking Cantonese" vlogs are back! Follow me around to see what an average day living in London is like and attempt to only speak Cantonese Chinese to my friend, Elly. From exercise classes, a sushi lunch to catching up on edits. Though it's not particularly exciting, it's days like this that make me even more grateful to be able to do what i'm doing and it's a great way to unwind, relax and take a step back from constant travelling too!
    Let me know your thoughts on what I should cover in future Cantonese vlogs and how often you'd like to see them on the channel!

      Shu you’re so welcome.
      I think the Canto only speaking vlogs are helpful simply because I can visually see the objects and people which you speak of.
      Also I am completely interested in finding places to have alternative milk in my bubble tea now. I am still looking for a cup and straw to eliminate the use of toss-away plastic for my beverages too! If you find one, I’m sure you’ll share where it’s from 💛

    Oh wooden chopsticks...I don't see them much anymore.
    My Canto sucks but I am forced to be better at it thanks to my wife, I just wish her English would improve in tandem. But my issue is sometimes I get it mixed up with Taui-San which my motherside primarily speaks, and I never learned the difference till I got married. Like saying "its raining" would be "lok yeu" but Taui-San I would sometimes say "lok sui" by accident.
    I probably made out 65% of what you said without subtitle aids.

    • @dejashu
      @dejashu  5 років тому +1

      65% is an amazing effort without subtitles so I definitely wouldn’t say your Canto sucks at all! ☺️✌️
      Amazing to have multiple dialects though and didn’t realised the subtle differences between them! Do you and your wife mostly converse in Canto or English?

      Canto mostly with some English mixed in...Chinglish. But she wants me to speak more Canto to get the kids better versed. The daughter has some of it down with a bit of Mandarin thanks to her Chinese dancing lessons. The boy on the other hand barely speaks much but hes only 4.
      Coming from Canada, I also have to know at least grade 9 French on top of English, plus Cantonese as a second language. I also picked up some Italian having grown up in a predominantly Italian neighborhood. Some Japanese from my 12 years of karate. Some Mexican-Spanish from my Caribbean cruises and fellow cooks, not a lot of useful stuff unless I'm a tourist looking for beer and bathroom. And I self taught counting to 10 in Deutsch just for the heck of it...
      ...a little bad Canto should be excused...

    • @dejashu
      @dejashu  5 років тому +1
