Was brought to my attention that this is NOT a competition package car, misunderstanding with the owner and I don't know enough about BMWs to tell. But this car DOES have a DME tune that puts it well above even the Competition pack Hp/Trq numbers. This car also has the sports exhaust, not sure if the Comp would have been more aggressive or not in that department.
This car has the standard exhaust for sure. The sport exhaust option has black tips, and costs about 2k extra. Competition sounds even more agressive than the sport exhaust option, cuz it has to do with the ECU as well as far as I know. But yea Comp ain't about the exhaust only, it's a considerably different car in general :)
@@BrockDM1 The Comp. has the M Sport exhaust (black tips) - in europe you can get this exhaust as an option for the "regular" M5. If this is not enough there still is the M Performance exhaust as an after market option for both versions.
Who gives a fuck, majority of us here are just watching for entertainment and don't have any real desire to carry that heavy of a note or she'll out that big of a lump sum.
Joe are u sure this is a Competition model? Because it doesn't look like one at all lol. This one doesn't even have the sport exhaust option, let alone Competition which crackles even more. Btw Competition fixes lots of the negatives you mentioned. It has harder suspension, handles much better, feels better as a whole in general, and the exhaust as I mentioned which is much better than the standard one. Lots of people agree that E63S is better than the Non Comp, but the Competition model is just something else. Way different than the standard one you tested. Non Comp = GT Cruiser mostly, Comp = Proper 4 door Sports Car. Great vid tho (y)
Honestly I’m a BMW fan boy but I agree. I fell in love with the E46 like everyone else’s when I was like 8 and worked at BMW for years and my dealership also owned a Benz that was next door to us and the E was always the one I would consider getting but I was always the one who bitched about the new M cars how they don’t feel special anymore. An M4 just feels like a dinan glorified 440. They just don’t have the fizz anymore.
I drove both AMG E63s and the new M5 comp and I would pick the E63s over the M5. Both are great fast cars but I felt that connection more with the AMG. I was more impressed driving the E63s over the M5. That AMG exhaust is amazing and definitely one if not the best sounding exhaust coming from the V8.
As a big m5 fan boy I understand your choice. It's really about personal preference not which car is better because they are both absolute monsters. Personally the exterior of the e63s is pretty disappointing in my opinion the m5 look way better. The interior is less fancy in the m5 but I think because it is made to be sporty it does more then a good job inside.
Another great video as usual, but this is a regular M5, not an M5 Competition! You can tell because the exhaust pipes are the standard silver instead of the black M Exhaust (which also makes the extra gargling noises like your E63S), and the M5 logo is silver and doesn't have "Competition" lettering at the bottom
After 18+ years of BMW ///M ownership and countless M cars, I moved to an e63s and couldnt be happier. They are both awesome cars but for me, e63S just more mean and better-looking.....
Hey Joe, I enjoy the videos. One thing about BMW that I think people don’t necessarily factor is BMW leases are phenomenal. You can lease M3’ / M4’s for almost Golf R money. You can lease 340’s all day long for not much more (actually maybe even less) than some Ford. You almost have to forget the MSRP of a BMW. It’s just on the sticker for status. When you look at the total financial transaction, you’re basically one step above Volkswagen money.

Hes not lying about it being quiet, I was at a shop near me and a new m5 was coming in for an exhaust. The tech revved it for everyone inside the garage and it was surprisingly quiet. The idle seemed just as loud as 5k-6k rpm
That's just not true ... unless you keep it with exhaust off and in efficient mode ... Inside it's quiet, but outside it's right on the legal limit of how loud modern (German) cars can be.
I think it all depends which brand do you prefer it’s like picking between brunette’s vs blondies, both cars has own pluses and minus, i have tuned F10 M5 with exhaust and downpipes being honest i like it more than new m5.
Well. It's good to have opinions - but when the M5 Competition beats every Merc - including the GT63S which is 60K more expensive in a straight line and on the road course - any road course - when it comes to handling (against the E63S) - maybe it's just easier to stick with that.
You went through hell and back with this video lol. Yeah I was a big M5 Fan but it just doesn't do anything for the amount of money. Definitely thinking of getting the AMG Next

Really Great episode Joe, Even though there where hiccups during the filming of these review it felt genuine and added a bit of flavour to it. Doesn't always need to be perfect and a shit load of VFX. And the idea of restoring an old muscle car would be fun to watch. Also fun watching you learn how to weld as-well lol. Keep them coming!
E63s is more fuel efficient, doesn't use electronic engine sounds through the speakers (lmfao), has turbos on top of the engine producing almost no turbo lag making it feel like a naturally aspirated V8, I've always liked BMW especially the E60 but since I've driven a Mercedes I've changed mind. It drives some comfortably.
It only overlay the info if you have turned of the HUD. If they HUD is on, the info get show in the HUD, and it leave the Tachometer alone. Also if you are tracking, and care about RPM ... I would suggest not to keep changing radio stations at the same time :) Was curious about the features ... which features do you miss in the BMW that the MB have ? (other than the digital dashboard configuration options).
Despite it all you still managed to pull off a great video. I love your content mate. On the project car, I recommend a 6.2 V8 C63 coupe or an E92 m3. They are modifiable with super chargers and they have v8s. Sponsorships with shops could open up too.

With only 6k miles, I don't see any car having an issue. I'm still a firm believer that these oil consumption issues arise more from owner negligence than anything mechanical, or at least it exacerbates the issue. 15k miles between oil changes is just too long, especially for a car you're going to drive spiritedly (ie: M5). Add onto that that most owners will push what's recommended and you have 20-30k oil change intervals. Then people start complaining why the rings on their pistons aren't sealing properly and the car starts burning a quart of oil every 500 miles. Gee, I wonder.
@@CU08 My take is that people are too willing to rev their engine standing still while engine is cold ...and that's harsh on the engine and the oil (something I NEVER do). Also I never red-line my cars before they are at full temp (oil). BMW make it easy showing my the dynamic red-line. Porsche I just keep it under 3k till it's at 210F water temp. Both cars will adjust oil change based on how you drive them (I race both the 911 and the M3), and neither have had any engine related issues. E63s is a great car to pick up, just make sure (BMW, MB and Audi ... and in some lesser degree Porsche) that you get an extended warranty of the car. I typically get a 7-year extended with all my cars, so when I see them after 3-5 years next owner have 2-4 years of warranty as an extra protection. NOTE: BMW no longer allow for transfer (why I leased the M5). I always just follow the mfg/car service intervals, and so far that have not caused any issues. Note: My E36 M3 did not use any oil, while my E46 drank it like it was G&J :)

I heard you say you are 6’5”. I am 6’5” and currently driving a 2017 Alpina B7 and looking at the E63S and the M5 competition. I was told the M5 has a bigger seating area since 2017. How well do you fit in both of these vehicles?
