but in all seriousness, you could do that in a mustang gt as well and still have fun when not going sideways... point is that the m5 is too isolated when not sliding it around
@King of sting Yes, and you could buy 4 Mustangs for this things price. It should be better, and it is better. But it's not 4x better, by any stretch of the imagination.
King of sting yes it can definitely keep up in a straight line. 1. because it finally has independent rear suspension. 2. most of the people who mow down crowds are absolutely horrible drivers whom got the car for cheap (which it is) who try to push the throttle or overcorrect at bad situations. Again who is Motor trend? The same biased channel who scores absolutely inaffordable cars on the top? At least 90% of the crowd cannot afford an m5? The m5 MIGHT perform better but it is an isolated cat and that is a fact. The exhaust note is horrible, the steering is dead, but it can do powerslides and go fast on a track while boring the hell out of you.
@King of stingThe exhaust is in fact horrible. It literally sounds like a civic fartcan that's trying to be a V8. The sound inside is completely fake and synthetic. Sometimes fake noise is supposed to make the car sound better. But in this instance it makes me feel like I'm in a video game and not driving a real car. Literally everyone complains about how it sounds like a fart from the outside and fake on the inside. They all make fun of it for sounding worse than some 4 cylinder cars. Pardon me, I thought you were talking about the mustang being able to stay in a straight line and not lose control. Didn't read your comment correctly. But for sure the m5 smokes the mustang in a straight line or whatever. The mustang to me is still better because of the looks, exhaust, engine characteristics, permanent rear wheel drive and stick shift option.
@King of stingOk I think it is safe to say we drifted off topic here.. my initial point was that the M5 is just too dead when looking at it as a fun sports car. It can slide around and accelerate fast, but that's about it. It can go fast around the track, but as savagegeese already mentioned it is still a dead car unless it is sideways. It is basically a charger hellcat but with better handling and worse exhaust note (and better interior). I think the amg gt 4 door is better as it is much more alive when driving it (many car journalists said it, I haven't driven it before). I'm not going to try to argue performance though (even though the amg has better performance) because I care more for how the car feels like to drive than how it performs. Either way both mercs & bmws are out of my reach and are absolute money pits and so I wouldn't buy either of them.
I absolutely love these reviews where you give a true technical overview and under body view. You deserve way more subs than you have! I’m so happy you finally referred to a suspension as a multi-link instead of calling everything a dual A arm.

Jack of all trades master of NONE. I’ve done a long term test drive with this car and I agree with you. The seats are too tough and suspension is too stiff to be an comfortable everyday driver, and there’s way too much tech, not enough driver feel and looks way too boring to be a sports car I felt bored it when I was getting in and felt uncomfortable when I was driving it over everyday roads.
I don't know how you do it, but Dr. Goose and his goslings just keep making better and better videos... Hell, they're not videos, they're feature presentations.... I must say, and I think I'm not alone, these are in a class all by themselves. Exceedingly well done.

I think Mark is wrong regarding the styling. The idea behind M5 is to have precisely that - a subtle sleeper. An understated saloon that smokes Ferraris if driven by someone who knows what he's doing.
Keep in mind steel you need to replace after 25k, CCB 100k, so even if they are 3-4 times more ... it's the same running cost. Pads are about $1000 vs $250, but again 4x the duration. They are easy to chip though, and I think that might be the real reason to consider steel ...
love your extensive reviews! Especially the shoppe! Totally agree that the regular 5 series + dedicated track car is much better way than a -awesome- jack of all trades. Track days can go south in a split second, won't risk my daily tbh. (The black arm in 18:17 is the lower traction arm, that controls the antisquat not the toe arm! Notice it's angle. Toe arm is the one that passes under the sway bar, rearmost one, notice the eccentric bolt)

Your videos are always exceptionally researched and produced, thank you for all the work that goes into them. As a European I have one question only - do you guys not have snow tyres or something? Areku06 Very true. Though the maintenance costs would scare me away from buying it.
Per usual, another outstanding video.
Watch till the very for a bonus Turbowski outtake.
And this 40 minute review felt like 8 minutes.
Yep, better than anything on the TV tonight by a long way!
This channel is perfect!!! I mean, they talk about the suspension setup, show us everything under the car, the interior, the engine, tech data and driving.... And in this video, we had turbowski smoking those brakes!
Scotty comes in only for cars above 100K!:))))
If it’s a V8, he will consider it
What a beautiful video you made! This is spectacular. You will go down in UA-cam history as the definitive M5 video for this generation worldwide. What an experience, and Turbowski make a celebrity appearance!
I'm giddy like a schoolgirl. What beauty. Only guy to ever do an HD pan over dessicated insect strikes and move me. Bravo.
it got real when Jack dropped the F bomb
Jack of all trades master of NONE. I’ve done a long term test drive with this car and I agree with you. The seats are too tough and suspension is too stiff to be an comfortable everyday driver, and there’s way too much tech, not enough driver feel and looks way too boring to be a sports car
I felt bored it when I was getting in and felt uncomfortable when I was driving it over everyday roads.
Yes I agree for $100000.00 plus aportscar the looks aren't special at all.
At this price point I'd expect the seat bottoms to Hoover flatulence out of the cabin and convert it into extra HP, a bit like NO2
They’ve got you covered, perfume option! For when the car detects noxious gases in the cabin.
I don't know how you do it, but Dr. Goose and his goslings just keep making better and better videos... Hell, they're not videos, they're feature presentations....
I must say, and I think I'm not alone, these are in a class all by themselves.
Exceedingly well done.
"I feel absolutely nothing from this car" - Bursts out laughing with huge smile on face. :P
I mean yea it'll accelerate like crazy and get sideways but you're still insulated from the actual feel of the road, the brakes, the steering...that's what he meant
Not only one of your longest but definitely one of your best IMhO. I like understated.
Hate it when journalists complain about more configurability. Did you complain about not being to adjust things separately on the CTR?
I just drove my F-30 M5 1600 miles, to New Mexico and back. It's a fantastic road trip car.
Hell Cat with a masters degree 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that was awesome 👏🏻
where did he say that?
His passenger said it during the ride along.....I can’t ever remember that guys name
26:03 I think
I love all the skid marks on the track where turbowski went off the track in that one corner.
Haven’t even finished the vid yet...
But thank you for reviewing this Premium Automobile!
Turbowski present (with Frappuccino in hand) puts the whipped cream on our latté!
Great work, as always 👍🏻
Perfect review, I learnt alot about the drive train and managed to see if it can suit me. It's a joy having Jack and talking about all the details.
What do I watch....oh this..ok.
Should give you guys a top gear budget. Informative, fun to watch, nice and raw at same time.
Ahh, a new video from savagegeese, or as we would say in germany, if we were to tranlsate, Ein neues Video von den verrückten Gänsen!!!! 🤤
Great video, by the way 👌
I think Mark is wrong regarding the styling. The idea behind M5 is to have precisely that - a subtle sleeper. An understated saloon that smokes Ferraris if driven by someone who knows what he's doing.
$110k for this...yikes. I'll wait 3 years and get one for $20k lol.
The Adventure Mazda funny
good luck
Hahaha, seriously. This thing will depreciate faster than the speed of gravity.
It'll still be $18k for a brake job, probably more.
@@USARAY1947 No, only if the previous owner specced carbon brakes
Seeing this review changed my opinions of needing to own one. Completely. It's a screamer, but it's going to cost a fortune to maintain it too.
thinking of buying an M5
sees the cost of repairing the breaks
goes and buy a camry :(
Keep in mind steel you need to replace after 25k, CCB 100k, so even if they are 3-4 times more ... it's the same running cost.
Pads are about $1000 vs $250, but again 4x the duration. They are easy to chip though, and I think that might be the real reason to consider steel ...
First time on the channel. I am impressed! #bmw4life
love your extensive reviews!
An old man sitting by the race track told me “don’t take anything onto the track that you aren’t prepared to leave there”
music at 34m?
5 years later , depreciation sets in. Which M5 do I buy? 2019 or 2021? Serious question
Says he Hates the car
Proceeds to laugh grin and “hooooly shit” while enjoying the car
The electronics......thus I continue to drive my E39 M5. 197,000 miles and going strong! The new cars are HUGE!
E39 M5 is still the best M5. Change my Mind.
I just picked up a preowned 2018 M550i with less than 10k. What an amazing car to complement my 2020 M4 heritage 6 spd manual. I did get the extended warranty and extended maintenance plans from BMW and wear and tear maintenance plan better safe than sorry. It was a lease return got it for 1/2 of msrp.
Hellcat with a masters degree....! Better value is the M550i which is xdrive and has 456 hp...
True
Your videos are always exceptionally researched and produced, thank you for all the work that goes into them. As a European I have one question only - do you guys not have snow tyres or something? I can never understand the references to a car being a year-round car seemingly only if it has 4wd. We use snow tyres with RWD (and that includes never having a problem on an old E 430).
It's highly inaccessible once you factor in depreciation and out of warranty cost of ownership. Five years from now, who can afford this kind of car? Fools.
You can't even write proper English and you are calling m5 drivers fools?
You’re one broke puppy
Great Video! really appreciate this from you... i am stuck right now literally, i just sold my 2016 M5 Competetion and im debating between a 2019 M5 Competettion or the 2021 M5 Competetion im looking for preowned with low miles.... what do you suggest brother? and thank you... btw i only like the 2020 digital display i think it looks much more modern
The standard F90 M5 was already a bat outta hell, but they decided that it was not fast enough, then came the BMW F90 M5 Conpetition... oml
This is the first of your videos I have seen where you have a camera pointing at the wheel/dash. I love that position! Would love to see more stuff like that!
18 grand for a brake job, wow!
I respect dis honest review about this car all the reviewers are so bias they will never talk about the faults or issues or anyting realistic
Damn this thing will ruin you faster than a loli camgirl!
What?
You sir, are the best car reviewer on planet earth. No one else comes close in any form, media or print. Comprehensiveness is often hardly marketable, but please keep doing you.

Yup, sounds about right.
mogst di aufmucka, ha?

Sorry, I don't understand Dutch.
Nice to see Mr. Geese and Turbowski together in harmony again. It brings a drop of fluid to my... eyes.
Xeno
You’re not crying, that’s just dust in your eye!
Omg Scott finally showed up!
Guess Mark just needs some Bummer piles to lure him out of his man cave garage.
Drove one at BMW M Track days at Monticello Motor Club. Made even an amateur look good. Went from terrifying to thrilling as the day went on. At the end of the day I drove home in my 540, which I felt is the most I could handle.
26:30 best moment
As a former 12volt tech I love how you actually know what your talking about with audio!
