- "Yertle Trilogy" was often played live by The Red Hot Chili Peppers since 1986 and till 1992. In 1985 the band played the regular album version of the song, but in the first part of 1986 they started playing "Freaky Styley" during the end of "Yertle" adding some more musical pieces (like "Behind the Sun"). The band then added "Cosmic Slop" & some more bits of music ("Atomic Dog", "Cholly", etc). In Spring 1992 the song was literally thrown away from the setlists, but returned for a couple of shows in August 1992 while the new guitar player Arik Marshall was in the band. After that and until 1998 the song was never played live.
For a long time it was unknown if Arik ever played "Yertle".
This exact version was recorded during Lollapalooza tour, August 28, 1992, Harriet Island.
The band: Anthony Kiedis - vocals, Michael "Flea" Balzary - bass, vocals, Arik Marshall - guitar, backing vocals, Chad Smith - drums.
